If you spend 10 minutes looking into Dolly Parton, you’ll find a Fucking Angel.
Legitimately. Look into her reading program. Not just the news articles, but the written deals. She makes sure that if her program is a success, that the county is contracted to keep it going FOR-FUCKING-EVER. Her legacy is generations of kids who graduate high school because she sent them books.
And that’s just ONE thing she did, with a legacy that will outlast every one of us.
There’s a better life
And you think about it, don’t you?
It’s a rich man’s game
No matter what they call it
And you spend your life
Putting money in his wallet
Did you censor the word “bitch” or is this some sort of fucking idiot censorship on lemmy.world? Fucking swear I’ll leave this instance at a drop of a hat if it is dumbass censorship. (Edit: It’s shitty ass lemmy.ml that’s censoring it, which is the above users home instance.)
Words don’t need to be blanket censored on the internet. Go ham with moderation but censoring words is how we end up with weird phrases like “unalive” instead of what they actually are murder, suicide, and death. Which makes it fucking hard to talk about fucking real god damn mother fucking problems people are dealing with you corporate bitch ass shills.
That’s a bit fucking dumb to reciprocate censorship, but also it would be hard to stop that functionality as well. But yeah I logged out and checked and my comment is 100% intact. Should defederate from .ml and put them on an island. Editing my comment to make it clear what idiot instance is the issue.
The word was “female dog.” Not ass. Because dessalinator is a bitch himself who has decided that that word is exclusively for referring to women negatively, I guess, which sounds pretty fucking dumb (if not misogynist itself) to me considering all the other contexts (especially “bad female dog,” “I’m 100% that female dog,” etc).
I had the same thing on another comment when I quoted the pope and I got downvoted because morons thought I self censored instead of the instance doing it.
if you think misandry is real (as in, an oppressive feature of our "society (whatever that means)), it’s on you to show it. until then you’re just posturing.
These guys are really entertaining. Flat earth people are boring by comparison. Sovcits will use 15 legal and Latin terms they learned from their redneck uncle, cram all of them into a single rage Facebook post not understanding what any of them mean. Wonderful.
Explaining it is a multi page response, you have the ability to go to Wikipedia or Google and figure it out yourself. They told you what to research, so don’t be the laziest Internet user and read up on it yourself.
A sovereign citizen is a loosely associated group of right wing anti-government extremists that emerged in the 1970s as an offshoot of the white supremacist religion Christian Identity. They believe they are not governed by the laws of where they live (hence sovereign), and that they are not required to have licenses, plates, insurance, ID, etc, and that they can pay bills by sending in nonsense correspondence with magic codes they think will eradicate their debt. They believe the government holds a 2 million dollar secret trust in everyone’s name and that you can pay your bills by “accessing” that trust through magic paperwork. They are a huge nuisance to cops and courts, “paper terrorize” the government to the tune of millions per year in frivolous litigation, and are a frequent source of hilarity in YouTube for their notorious traffic stop videos where they almost always end up dragged out of their car. They are properly bonkers.
Redneck uncle? Guess those Sov Cits are a diverse bunch. The few I have ever dealt with were minority, a couple black Americans and the most memorable was a Carribean Islander (my guess from accent, surprisingly he didn’t want to show me his Passport).
Forget the Facebook rage. Hit up YouTube or your favorite more free alternative and you can watch amazingly confident sovcit nitwits square up against cops and judges.
Yeah, in an article talking about how news stories about crime often show pictures of tents, they pointed out that the photo is of a crime scene, but the crime was not committed by those living in the tents.
I thought Arch was the only rolling distro that doesn’t have the backdoor. Its sshd is not linked with liblzma, and even if it were, they compile xz directly from git so they wouldn’t have gotten the backdoor anyway.
Yes, this sshd attack vector isn’t possible. However, they haven’t decomposed the exploit and we don’t know the extent of the attack. The reporter of the issue just scratched the surface. If you are using Arch, you should run pacman right now to downgrade.
They actually have an upgrade fix for it, at least for the known parts of it. Doing a standard system upgrade will replace the xz package with one with the known backdoor removed.
The extent of the exploit is still being analyzed so I would update and keep your eye on the news. If you don’t need your computer you could always power down.
That might make me consider actually going to the state fair instead of bitching about it making traffic terrible by bringing a ton of people into the middle of the city
Our state fair is in some little ass town in the middle of nowhere. I’ve always wanted to make the 3 hour drive, just never gotten around to it, $15 lemonades don’t sound very encouraging.
Also, almost all of that is written in C, which is a successor to B, which is a simplified version of the Basic Combined Programming Language. There was never an A.
As a dev who works on both Java and C# code, modern Java (17+) and C# feel almost exactly the same (not sure if Java has extension methods though).
Bonus points for using Kotlin instead tho. I dislike both Java and C# just because they both allow any object to be null and that’s usually a headache whenever a null exception shows up.
The only thing I like better about C# is the Fixture library for testing. I haven’t found any mature libraries like it for Java yet.
they both allow any object to be null and that’s usually a headache whenever a null exception shows up.
C# has nullable reference types now: learn.microsoft.com/en-us/…/nullable-references. If you enable it, you have to explicitly make reference types nullable (like ?string) and you’ll get build warnings if you try to use a variable that’s potentially null.
“Humanity is a disease” is not the same statement as “humanity is capable of committing atrocities” though. The latter leaves the door open for a “but”, while the former makes humanity itself a systemic problem but refuses or “forgets” to pin the blame on anyone or any system.
Such statements devolve the conversation into defeatist pseudo-nihilism, where a “true nihilist” knows that the betterment of humanity will have to come from within.
I do agree that capitalism is not the root of all evil, but it is central to the particular “planet’s fucked, housing is unaffordable, and no-one cares” doomer sentiment that is depicted in the meme (at least that is how I read it).
Some one on that “we need more sensitive men like in LOTR” post one of the top comments was about how men aren’t like this because capitalism. I point out the absurdity of that message and get ratio’d
Like yeah capitalism in it’s current state us the cuase of a lot of problems, but the inevitable communist revolution isn’t going to do much about the crushing expectations society puts on men.
People really do love to try and tie every world issue into one thing, when the fact of the matter is that things like “the patriarchy” or “capitalism” are just tools of the oppressor and not the oppressor themselves.
It doesn’t matter what ideology you run a society with if the people are the top are all shortsighted, self interested ideologues.
People accosiate monarchs with oppression for a reason.
Small nitpick, but you shouldn’t mix “usted” (“se ha desmayado”) with informal “tú” (“te estamos deteniendo”). Also a cop isn’t going to be so polite to a drug trafficker. Not one they’re detaining at least.
