Needs moar caps to be truly conservative.

4ish years ago when I bought a house I was convinced not to get a house inspection, would it be crazy to get one now just to make sure it's all good?

Was 25 and super nervous, so when the realtor was like “oh yeah they just check for basic stuff, but I looked around and it looks great” I was like “Oh okay, this is so astronomically expensive every penny saved is good…”...

Work remote from rural areas. Or just find a reasonable paying job in those areas. I see nice places in the 200k’s in towns under 5000 near me.

I’d imagine this is more about making sure facial recognition works. Can’t Big Brother if they plebs are covering their faces.

I don’t mind the electric ones, but I had a neighbour that would fire up a two-stroke backpack monster at 6 AM any morning there was the barest skiff of snow. And he’d try for hours blowing heavier snow that he could have had shovelled in 15 minutes. He was generally just an asshole neighbour all around.

I wish there was a way to ban all these pricks that mine on grid power. Between that and AI, energy prices have gone through the roof.

Gore is extremely time sensitive?

I wonder what internet I’ve been using for the last 30 years.

Decades of fire suppression have built the conditions for wildfires. Fires were pretty common in the boreal forest, but not letting them burn so the forestry companies didn’t lose product has lead to this.

I have a golden and she’s awesome and gentle. That said, I had heard because there’s so many goldens, they are the number one dog for total number of dog bites on children. I guess even a golden has their limits and a kid can find that limit unerringly.

You can’t sell bombs if you take away the reason to bomb things.

I have a number of Grand Cherokees (including a WK), and modded /r/grandcherokee for 15 years as an enthusiast.

The WK was the last one that I would call somewhat offroad capable, before they completely Fiatized the line. It’s not as easily modded for good offroad capability since it has IFS instead of a front live axle like the predecessor models, but still had a fairly robust 4WD system and you could add lockers, rear disconnects, etc. The engine options were kind of anemic, though. Lots of room in the back if you pulled the seats for camping, etc.

Moose. We get European summer students and seeing one is the highlight of their animal watching when they’re here, apparently.

Personally, I’m more impressed with elk, a bull elk with a full rack is pretty awesome.

Jesus, I don’t miss that shit. Now, it has to be something way the hell out in left field to not be picked up and installed silently. linux-firmware ftw

I’ve used it about as long, and I’ve never seen it as easy to maintain as the AIO container strategy they’re on now. It’s effortless, and after years of failed updates and rolling shit back via occ, it’s night and day. Even NCPi wasn’t as bulletproof.

Nobara has a lot of fixes in it that are made for video editing and graphics, particularly davinci and blender. It’s quite cutting edge on it’s packages (despite being based on Fedora 39 it has Plasma 6 for last few weeks). but otherwise quite stable to use. All non-free package repos are enabled. Overall, it’s been a low-maintenance, high productivity environment for me.

Wow, compelling argument.

As China and Iran hunt for dissidents in the US, the FBI is racing to counter the threat (apnews.com)

After a student leader of the historic Tiananmen Square protests entered a 2022 congressional race in New York, a Chinese intelligence operative wasted little time enlisting a private investigator to hunt for any mistresses or tax problems that could upend the candidate’s bid, prosecutors say....

I’m not sure how well docker-in-docker would work via portainer. Maybe it does, I’ve not tried it.

I would just do it from a folder you set up yourself and drop the docker-compose.yml in it, and go. If you want to share your dockercompose I can see if I notice a problem. I remember having to get over a couple issues at the time, but it’s been a while and can’t remember them offhand.

I think NC is worth setting up, but YMMV.
