With the recent issues of transgender people in sports, why don’t we move some sports over to a weight-class system?

Obviously this won’t work for all sports, but things like football, track, soccer, it would allow for de-gendered team, even allowing athletes with the skills but not the genetically-endowed physical attributes to have a place to play....

An average of ~600 calories a day or so from liquid cheey.

That’s good, but 2 lattes and 2 croissants here would be $16 plus tax and tip.

Lattes only with tax and tip are pretty close to $15 and would be my choice. Well, I’d get a latte for her and a cortado with half n half for me.

Onani sounds like a manga one would fap to.

Fortis was either a typo or a very clever conjunction of “for it is”, either way I love it.

This is why I went to Mac. I can set it to notify rather than auto update and it actually does that. So many times my work windows laptop has started an update as I am shutting it down for the night, delaying my departure.

Skate backwards. I am really good going forwards, carving, hockey stops, but try to go backwards and I’m an unsteady infant.

F off with that “larger select a size” crap though.

Welding is a good trade and plenty of welders are introverts. At the shop I work at, most of the welders are introverts, with one notable extrovert that nobody likes. Welding is a solitary craft due to safety constraints, it’s just you and the part in your weld cell.

You don’t need to be an extrovert to prove yourself. If you want to prove yourself, you could work on becoming a very skilled welder. Learn the methods, master them, pay attention to details, perfect your craft, learn to weld exotic materials, and your introverted self will be revered and paid handsomely for your abilities. None of that requires you to be a loud dudebrochug.

If you’re comfortable on computers, add robot welding to your repertoire. That is the hot new thing, and could make you even more money since your setups will allow you to put out even more parts with less manual labor.

The Mac alone is 563 kcal, and that easily fits. Ditch the fries and soda.

Fun story. 12 years ago I lost 80 lbs with keto. 4 years ago I quit keto for convenience because grad school. Gain 10 lb/yr since.

January this year I started keto, didn’t lose an ounce in 2 weeks. Eat less via IF and portion control but still keto, start losing. Eat a carb meal but still IF and portion control, still losing. Now I am on a standard ish diet (more emphasis on protein, more restriction on simple carbs) with portion control and gradually losing weight.

I tried dieting like this in 2010 but it “didn’t work”. In 2012 keto worked great but in hindsight it was likely the forced restriction and eventually calorie counting. Now that I’m good at calorie counting, CICO works great.

Do the copper IEDs have negative side effects? I thought the objection to those was purely moral.

Edit: I meant IUD lol

The clear brittle kind. Cups too, the clear ones that snap when you squeeze them too hard.

I’m sure it has a marginal effect, the drag would have to reduce average velocity somewhat, but maybe it is negligible. Or maybe the overall drag is equal to an unmodified tip due to other changes such as reduced restriction.

I drink about 11kg dried beans on average. Daily brew is 60g and I drink half, so 30g. 365*30 = 10950g, just under 11 kg. There are occasional days I’ll have an extra cup out and about.

Vast majority of it is locally roasted.

I need to wake up early (lemmy.world)

All the vibrating alarm clocks I could find do not sync with your phone, and have to be set manually. I thought about getting an Arduino, but then I will have to build the whole thing by myself. The only logical conclusion I could come up with is to get a programable vibrator. But most of them are either very expensive of look...

As someone who is aging. Late thirties. How can I keep my finger on the pulse of current trends, particularly in music?

As an example. I grew up in hip-hop but at a certain point I stopped listening to new people and realised recently that I’d slept on some bangers. Like Kendrick particularly, but even people like Juice WRLD and Xxxtentacion....

YouTube music made discovery worse compared to Google music, but it is still OK.

When I hear a good song on a show or movie, I ID it with my phone and explore others by the artist or genre. I also thumbs up it to get more recommendations from YTM

Same when friends recommended music. So yeah, talk to friends about music. And then do the above two steps with their suggestions and likes.

How old is the oldest building in the town you live in?

To those from the Western hemisphere, it’s always fascinating to hear that some homes and businesses from the times of the Greek philosophers still have inhabitants, and then you remember that the Western hemisphere is itself not without its own examples, for example some Mexican villages still have temples from the times of...

How do you store your grounded coffee? (slrpnk.net)

Hiya, just quickly wondering how people store their coffee? Mine is in a tin box I got second hand, cos I thought it looked nice. Any rules regarding storing grounded coffee? I don’t store much at the time, it’s just if I grind a little too much and what not. I’m assuming the general thumb rule for this is to store it in a...

I have a counterpoint. I used to be the same way but then I realized I just had a bunch of amateur photos of places where professional photos were readily available, basically wasted effort. So now I try to capture the people I’m with in the photos as a way to remember our trip together. This is also great fodder to make photo books for the grandmas.

Can we all agree that whatever version of predictive text we have nowadays is crap, and has been for a long time?

I’m sick of random capitalisations mid sentence. I’m sick of common words being replaced by less common ones or even downright nonsense. I’m sick of it taking three attempts to successfully get the word I want. I swear it’s been like this for five years or more. Can we have a better version yet, or at least the old one...

Google keyboard was even better that Swype back then. Only when they started trying to make it smarter by scrubbing all our text input did it start getting worse. However they need the pretense to collect all our input so they’re never going back.

Wouldn’t N by M be a tensor? Magnitude and direction only need one entry per DOF.

Pulptastic ,

All vectors are tensors but not vice versa. And every page/definition of vector I’ve seen references magnitude and direction, even the vector space page you linked.

It looks like “vector” commonly refers to geometric vectors which is what most folks in this thread are discussing.

Would N by M vectors be imaginary, where each DOF has real and imaginary components?
