That’s a phase diagram, there’s probably lots of cool things going on in the solid state below that line. Probably different ratio solids at each peak. 1:4 3:2 etc. The % are goofy because it is reported by weight but behaves based on count.

Depends on temperature and pressure. This diagram doesn’t go that low, but I would guess it’s a solid in the near vacuum of space based on what I know of space ice like Saturns rings and comet tails.

I should be able to do this but it isn’t working. Another commenter fixed.mr moskeeto but I found other problems after that like Madagascar.

You are going to be trapped in a room for 12 hours with a mid 2000s office desktop with no internet connection and an external hard drive; what are you putting on the hard drive?

I’ve got some DOOM WADs I have been meaning to play so I would probably grab Trench Foot, Total Chaos, and the sequel to Ashes 2063, Ashes: Afterglow with a portable install of GZDoom to play them....

Pulptastic ,

StarCraft, warcraft 2, HL, Portal, doom 1-2, Simpsons doom, quake 1-2, command and conquer series, Dune, NES emulator and the full game library zip.

I probably don’t need that many but yeah.

Pulptastic ,

When in Rome? I’ve only played the originals and they should all play on mid 00s hardware.

Define your standard of clean. How much clutter do you want? How much dirt is OK?

Then break tasks up - decluttering, vacuuming, dusting, mopping, and schedule each as often as is needed.tp.mwet the above standards.

My personal standard is to do light vacuuming and decluttering every day. Dishes and cleaning kitchen +dining room at least daily, sometimes twice as needed. Bathroom cleaning and more extensive vacuuming every week. Dusting and mopping every couple weeks.

Most of my non-floor surface cleaning is done with method pink or 409 and microfiber cloths. A battery Dyson vacuum was a game changer and makes touch ups way easier; no wrangling with cords, just grab it off the wall charger and push it around for a few minutes hitting spots you can see dirt.

Nature’s miracle is great for pet or kid messes, I use both the hardwood and carpet formulas.

One of the local roasters sells whole bean at Costco so that is my go to. I occasionally splurge on local fresh roasted single origin, one in particular that is my favorite local bean.

I got a cheap conical burr grinder 16 years ago. I’ve had to replace a resistor 3 times but otherwise working great.

I love to use my stainless French press but most days brew a pot on the Keurig out of convenience. The wife doesn’t like the silt and it’s not worth brewing two batches different ways. If I am alone I’ll French press it.

Fake eclipse glasses are hitting the market. Here’s how to tell if you have a pair (www.cnn.com)

As the total solar eclipse, occurring across Mexico, the United States and Canada on April 8, draws near, experts are reminding spectators to grab a pair of eclipse glasses to view the celestial event safely — and to make sure they aren’t fake....

Amazon is not worth the risk. But from a reputable source, you are worth it.

Do want.

Edit: but it needs some form of hot pepper.

Pulptastic ,

News outlets made it worse. I read three articles and all three suggestively mentioned the Indian crew but none mentioned non-Indian captains.

They also mentioned the SOS call and power failure so I assumed it was a maintenance problem, not necessarily a people problem.

Do you have some kind of subconscious awareness of interests you already have or know you eventually will take deep dives into at some point in life?

I mean like awareness that, just under the surface, there are deep explorations waiting for the right time and place to emerge; things you’ve set aside or placed on the back burner but will tackle eventually/many you already have tackled....

Pulptastic ,

I identify interesting rabbit holes as I go, and I do eventually pursue some of them when the timing is right. It’s not really subconscious though, conscious me is making those decisions.

Sigurd is good but they took it too far with the middle names.

Can old growth vines be transposed to more suitable locations?

Pulptastic ,

Ha, tell each one that you hate a different one!

I personally would rather follow topics than people. I don’t know or care what the founder of Adobe had for breakfast. I like the idea of community aggregate voting to drive an interesting feed. Maybe Mastodon can do that better than I know because I only gave it a few days… but I was nowhere near what I wanted after a few days where Lemmy was good from day 0.

Too much delta t leads to too much delta T.

I wonder if the tater could be sous vide after slicing to perfect temp and then somehow flash crusted. Similar idea to twice cooked fries that are boiled, frozen, then fried.

Antibiotics May Soon Become Useless | The Walrus (thewalrus.ca)

As living organisms, bacteria are encoded by DNA, and DNA occasionally mutates. Sometimes genetic mutations render a bacterium immune to an antibiotic’s chemical tactics. The few cells that might escape antibiotic pressure then have a sudden advantage: with their counterparts wiped out, resources abound, and the remaining...

Pulptastic ,

We should have stopped irresponsible use of antibiotics decades ago.

I wonder if they still lean in to the turns. I can’t not do that.

What I love about my Garmin is it does all it does without a subscription. I’ve looked at oura, whoop, and withings and they all need a subscription for full functionality. It seems Garmin bakes that cost into the device price, so you pay more up front but also get what you pay for.

My Venu 2 is awesome. Sleep, stress, body battery, vO2max, and almost any activity I do including hike, bike, snowshoe, snowboard, paddle board, disc golf. The battery lasts 5-10 days depending on how much GPS I use.

It has a few smart features but the above is more important to me.

Is there any medicine that can give me happy hormones and does not need a doctor's prescription?

Things are becoming more depressing every day and I can’t afford for professionals and don’t want to jump to the last resort or drugs. Is there a medicine that can make me happy if I take it in proper doses and does not require a doctor’s prescription?

Exercise, sauna, and completing small projects can help.

Hi i am a complete noob who want to get into torrenting and piracy in general can people here help??

And before you say i have read the megathread atleast as much as i can because it feels too buzzwordy for me and i think it is more suitable with people with a little more experience than for litteral noobs also i want to leaen how to in android and not a pc and the megathread leans heavily into pc ....

Pulptastic ,

Start small, don’t dive in to the Arr suite right away unless you’re Linux savvy.

Get a VPN like Airvpn or mullvad, get torrent software like qbittorrent, and browse torrent sites on the top ten list at torrentfreak.com

Use jellyfin or Plex to stream your library from your computer to your TV if you’re into that or just connect a computer to your TV.

This is a very brief summary of my 2 year MBA: business school is the scientific method applied to business.

Pulptastic ,

They call it PDSA or PDCA, plan do study/check act. They taught me how to make realistic plans, ways to execute and track the execution, ways and metrics to evaluate success, and then how to modify the plan and try again. This is analogous to hypothesis testing in science.

Use low heat, add butter or bacon grease to pan and melt before cooking the eggs.

Once you get good at that, try it on a seasoned cast iron. Once you get good at that, ditch the nonstick disposable health and environmental hazard. Cast irons last lifetimes and the worst thing they put in your food is iron.

Pulptastic ,

Heat, salt, fat, acid. Technique matters more than secret ingredients.

Using low and slow or high and fast where appropriate depending on the goal. Plenty of fat and salt on everything, and a little acid to brighten up the dish.

I am always put off a bit when I notice nutmeg where it doesn’t belong, like in chili. I love it in fall sweets and maybe on roasted squash but that’s about it.

Pulptastic ,

I grow and dry my own herbs, jar the whole leaves, and grind them as needed. It does help.

What lunches do you eat on a weekly basis?

I’m looking for easy and cheap options for lunches on weekdays. I mostly eat deli sandwiches and hot dogs right now and I always feel like shit after eating them. I think I need something healthier but I don’t have time over my lunch hour to cook anything too fancy. What do you all do for reliable healthy easy lunches?

Pulptastic ,

Leftovers or salami+cheese+almonds. It’s yummy, satisfying, and can survive a few hours out of the fridge.

I don’t really want to towell off my butt after I poop. Wet wipes do the trick and I need way less paper.

Edit: downvoted by the bidet brigade. I tried not to come off as offensive but I guess it’s always a risk when sharing an unpopular opinion.

Pulptastic ,

Only poop goes in the butt. I’m not putting it near my mouth like I wood my hands. If I am going to eat ass I want it washed first.

Insulation and conduction are opposites. Vacuum (empty space) and stagnant air are great insulators, that’s how double walled bottles insulate.

Aluminum conducts heat quickly for the same reason it conducts electricity well. It has a relatively low heat capacity too so it doesn’t take much energy to heat or cool it so it will more quickly heat or cool its contents.

Toss that alu can in the freezer to cool it quickly, then put it in an insulated colster to keep it cold.

Pulptastic ,

How did you get your hands on that? Are you James McTeigue or one of the Wachowskis?

Pulptastic ,

That is simultaneously shitty and awesome! Glad you got some memories and supported a good cause.

Pulptastic ,

I draw the line at using just “Engineer”. The word Engineer has baggage, it means something pretty specific already. If you engineer something other than physical structures you should list what that something is, like Software Engineer or Network Engineer.

Train Engineer is a bit confusing because they also have historical claim to “Engineer” but no longer have the same electrical and mechanical education afaik. Correct me if I’m wrong!

Japan PM Kishida slams ruling party event with scantily-clad dancers (www.bbc.com)

Leaked footage of the event, organised by a chapter of the Liberal Democratic Party, showed women in swimwear sitting on participants’ laps, reports said. The event was “highly inappropriate and most regrettable”, said Mr Kishida when grilled by lawmakers on Friday. At least one of the event organisers has since resigned...

They can use slam but as you suggest I need to see the suplex that goes with it.
