Sunny ,

Sorry for the noob question.

I know Gparted helps format disks and stuff, but what can you do with it on a USB stick? Is it to format and partition other computers you come across? And how did you get Gparted on the stick itself?

Thanks

Sunny OP ,

Not tried pinging (when it’s not working). However I’m unsure this is a problem with the switch if my wireless devices are also having the issue? Unless you mean the AP itself is being affected by this?

Sunny OP ,

omg i cant believe it actually was DNS… hahahah

I had it at default settings - but all of my devices are connected over Tailscale which uses NextDNS. Somehow when connected to the WiFi i guess things weren’t compatible…? Anyway i changed my Omada system to use NextDNS and voila! all devices connects flawlessly!

Sunny OP ,

It was DNS… godammit…

Sunny OP ,

It was DNS… thanks for the help nonetheless!

Sunny OP ,

It was DNS…

Sunny OP ,

I have not tried it, but would like to! Think I will stick to using what Omada has to offer first, as I am rather inexperienced with networking. But have heard great things about OpenWrt though, so its on the future agenda :)

Sunny OP ,

It was DNS… its always DNS… godammit…

Sunny OP ,

Fair point, I’d love to take a look at this resource though if you find back to it!

Sunny OP ,

Hahaha I liked the name too much not to use it myself 😅

Sunny ,

It was announced a few days ago that they were in some sort of legal problems… So it’s safe to assume they’re gone for now.

torrentfreak.com/fmovies-has-gone-offline-the-end…

Sunny OP ,

Not seen that as an option in the close-by shops, but I could perhaps widen my search for this!

Sunny OP ,

Yeah I saw these ones, while they certainly look good - they are a little outside my budget right now.

Sunny OP ,

Certainly interesting!

Sunny OP ,

So what brand and model is this then haha

Sunny OP ,

This website is exactly what I have been looking for! Thanks for sharing 🌻

Do you poweroff your server during night / unused times? (f)

I believe this is a slightly controversial topic, at least from what I have gathered so far. Some say its best to leave the server on to spare the life time of the spinning rust. Other seem to prefer to save power and boot the server off each night. So wanted to chip in and hear what folks here do and why do what you do....

Sunny OP ,

Ignore the URL; I wasn’t allowed to post without a link?? kept getting invalid URL, without anything in the field. Not sure why…?

Sunny OP ,

Posted using Photon frontend. Doesn’t give that choice, you just include what you want in the post normally…

Sunny OP ,

Yeah I would use that when I am on my phone too, but for web i much prefer Photon :)

Sunny OP ,

Thank you 🙌

What email client are you guys using?

I just can’t find a decent email client that looks like it’s from the last 20 years. Geary and Evolution both appear to be pretty modern but something about using Gmail with a Yubikey just doesn’t work and neither of them will connect to my account. Both on Fedora and OpenSUSE. Thunderbird works but it’s so old fashioned...

Sunny ,

Wouldn’t hold my breath for it… 😅

Sunny OP ,

Great tip! Thank you 🙌

Sunny OP ,

That is indeed a drawback this has. On the other hand I don’t think a larger aeropress would make much sense either. This size is just perfect, but definitely for one cup.

Sunny ,

APKmirror is alright, otherwise you can download RacoonAPK that connects to o Playstore to extracts any APK you want.

Sunny ,

Got the aeropress about a month ago and have not used anything since. Freaking love the results and how easy going it is! Next on the list is a new grinder, but unsure to go handgrinder or electrical.

Been using local coffee, labelled as French Roasted Coffee, it’s pretty nice.

Sunny ,

Roger that haha

Sunny ,

Commenting as I am curious about this too!

Where should I post a piracy guide?

I’ve written a guide about how to pirate fonts from a particular subscription service. I’m not sure where I should post it so it can be of help to anyone who is interested. I don’t think the mods would be happy if I posted it here, because it might be too much of a liability for the instance if the company behind...

Sunny OP ,

Norway. It works, but I dont have a networking card anyways and much prefer having things wired if possible.

Sunny OP ,

Didn’t know this was an option even, will defo look into this asap and evaluate wether this fits my use case or not, thanks!

Sunny OP ,

A set of four what? I’m sorry, not quite following.

Sunny OP ,

You’re probably right, I need to look again at running cables. But it is on separate floors too. Have not moved in yet, so will have to evaluate again when I move in. Thanks for the tips.

Sunny OP ,

Thanks for the write up! 🙌

I will likely go for either option 1 or 3. I need to reevaluate wether cable is possible or not. If not then I’ll go with a mesh. Only “problem” with mesh is that I really wanted to buy into the unifi ecosystem, but their mesh stuff is above my budget. Bit maybe I could just get the unifi express and pair that with another branded mesh system? The place is only 85 square metres, but on two floors. My office is ofcourse furthest away from where the modem comes into the house. Anyway, I will need to evaluate again when I’m there to see if it’s possible or not to run cables. Thanks again for detailed response 💛

Sunny OP ,

I live in Norway, thanks for the tips though!

Sunny OP ,

Normally I wouldn’t mind doing this too. But my server is fairly large back box and the Internet comes into the house in a really awkward spot. I might however buy into the new Fractal Mood case, as those seem super slick for leaving servers anywhere in the house.

Sunny OP ,

Woah I wish I had the same knowledge you do about networking haha! Taking notes here that’s for sure, thanks for the input!

New to Linux - Some beginner questions about Bazzite

Hey guys, so I installed Bazzite on my 2nd SSD last weekend and I’ve installed some games and searched through the OS to familiarize myself with it, but I still have a few questions about Bazzite and Linux in general that I’d like some help with! I’ve used Ubuntu and Linux mint in the past (2014ish) just to mess around...

Sunny ,

In terms of installing and managing apps in Bazzite there is an official guide for this, universal-blue.discourse.group/t/…/35.

It’s best not to “layer” packages as you described with ‘sudo rpm-ostree’, as that will add to the reboot time of the PC. At least as far as I know. Anyway, there are a couple of different ways of installing packages, best explained in the link attached.

Sunny ,

Hey that’s all good dude, don’t knock yourself down for it. I also used to ask questions before looking around as it felt easier at the time. Fortunately Bazzite actually has some really nice and well documented pages, not always super intuitive to find them, but they are there. Feel free to ask about more if u have further questions 😊

Sunny ,

Not a camera suggestion, but cameractrls, is a great piece of software to tweak all camera related things on Linux.

Issue with MX Master 3 on Linux

Hiya, got a very small, but annoying issue with this mouse. Every time I put the computer to sleep, and wake it up again the scrollwheel will barely scroll on websites and applications. To fix this i just have to turn the mouse on and off again, but am still wondering what causes this to be an issue or if there are any known...

Sunny OP ,

Wow this did solve my issue actually, thanks :)
