23andMe is much, much worse than the others due to the nature of the data it sells.

Mongostein ,

How do you mean?

Jolteon ,

I consider your personal genetic data to be a much more dangerous thing to sell, at least in the long term, compared to browser history.

MajorMajormajormajor ,

Even if the corporation that holds onto the genetic data isn’t selling it for profit (which I doubt), they still likely have terrible security on their servers. How many data breaches have there been over the years?

pineapplelover ,

I think it’s arguable. You can control thought with algorithms and feed addictions with browsing history. Both are still dangerous if abused.

Mongostein ,

Oh right. I forgot what 23&me was

SexualPolytope ,
@SexualPolytope@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

Frozengyro ,

I’m guessing you exercise regularly? I suspect the young pains thing is mostly from living a sedentary lifestyle.

DinosaurSr ,

I lived a really sedentary lifestyle for about 10 years and everything started hurting. The good news for people in their 30s is that it’s probably not too late to turn it around. It’s crazy what a little exercise can do

LittleBorat2 ,

I exercised a lot in my 20s but with my office job and working from home post pandemic I became extremely sedentary. Maybe it’s a good call to exercise again. I also have to get over a sports injury with physio so I really should go back to the gym.

In poetic metre, a trochee (/ˈtroʊkiː/) is a metrical foot consisting of a stressed syllable followed by an unstressed one, in qualitative meter, as found in English, and in modern linguistics; or in quantitative meter, as found in Latin and Ancient Greek, a heavy syllable followed by a light one (also described as a long syllable followed by a short one).

If you look at the site I provided, you’ll see that they have plenty of atheist/agnostic meetings [labelled ‘secular.’]

They also have a lot of LGBTQ+ meetings, as well as men only and women only options.

AA suggests people try to find a Higher Power of their own understanding.

    lars ,

These are religious meetings for addicts and alcoholics. The atheist and agnostic meetings are well-meaning but they talk about gods even more than at the non-secular meetings.

    Anticorp ,

When I was putting myself through school, I could never afford any of the textbooks. I pretty much lived in the school library for mid-terms and finals. It sucked. When most kids were studying at home, I’d have to camp out in the library because it’s the only place that I had access to the textbooks. If a particular class didn’t have their textbook available in the library then I couldn’t take that class. This was before Bit Torrent, so piracy and PDFs weren’t available options.

Theoretically, anything that can implement boolean logic can be used to build a Turing-complete CPU. It just needs to represent a "true" state", a "false" state, a way to make a comparisons, and an input and output mechanism to feed other subunits or retrieve data from them. Stuff like this has also been implemented using water pumps/valves, and even in Minecraft using redstone. Computers don't have to be based on electronics.
