Has anyone ever done a quick calculation about the above with the population?

8 billion people x distance to Jupiter = Anywhere close to Proxima Centauri?

I’ll be not lazy when I’m done shitting then someone can come in and correct my math after if ai even remember to do it by the time I get back to my PC.

E: 714 million km distance to jupiter. 40,208,000,000,000 km to Proxima Centauri.

40,208,000,000,000 / 714,000,000 = 56313.72549019608

714,000,000*100 = 71,400,000,000 km end to end for dna is more likely per reddit.

Alternate non nasa distance to proxima centauri is 39,900,000,000,000

39,900,000,000,000 / 71,400,000,000 = 558.8235294117647 people’s dna end to end to reach proxima Centauri.

How about light years? A light-year is 9.44 trillion km or 9,440,000,000,000 so 132.2128851540616 people’s DNA to go 1 light year.

8,000,000,000 / 132.2128851540616 = 60,508,474.5762712 light years of travel distance using the entire population of earth.

Milky way is 100,000 light years across.

So end to end every current human’s DNA would stretch across the Milky Way 605.084745762712 times.

Andromeda Galaxy is 2.5 million light years away.

60,508,474.5762712 / 2,500,000 = 24.20338983050848 times to Andromeda Galaxy and back.

We have galaxies even closer to us so really it’s just a hop and a skip away…

944,000,000,000,000,000 km.

They do. And for most purposes each reservation is it’s own little defacto nation. They aren’t truly, but definitely in spirit lol.

blanketswithsmallpox ,

Explaination please?

blanketswithsmallpox ,

Clever link and way to show it. That legit helped me see it lol.

So the bacon meat inside essentially looks like a little cartoon person and the meme is Saddam Hussein stuff from a person being stuck in that hole.

Less hole in this one and more general person (mummy to me) outline.

TIL a new meme though so that’s nice.

blanketswithsmallpox ,

I’m sorry sir we are talking about the US needing to aid all countries all the time with no military here. Not about some random African nation they should’ve helped the years ago already.

Not help like they helped the middle east though. Or not not helped like they did with the middle east.

Either way, we blame America regardless of whether they had anything remotely to do with it.

blanketswithsmallpox ,

Is he even male anymore? I thought that was more like a dead sex to him since he was AMAB but is now a god.

blanketswithsmallpox ,

But that ONE time it was a drag queen like six months ago! See! BothsidesthesameSpOnGeBoB.jpg

blanketswithsmallpox , (edited )

… The worst part is I’m decent with math by US standards in school and couldn’t even solve the middle school one with a quick glance.

Multiply the top by the bottom to erase it. Reverse the square root of something. + Or - threw me right off…

blanketswithsmallpox ,

Except for all the times when it’s not thanks to deflation and variable prices.

It’s okay to be Trump supporter on Lemmy Viking_Hippie. I know you regularly like to pretend Biden is bad but don’t be a useful idiot at least.

blanketswithsmallpox ,

No, you’re just literally parroting russian fascist republican propaganda equating the two no matter how much you badmouth Trump. Everyone shits on Trump already, it’s not special, nobody cares anymore lol.

Saying insane patently false shit like you have about Biden though makes you a useful idiot which is even worse than an idiot. I know I’m fucking stupid, I’m talking to you on Lemmy right now proving your point.

The difference being that you’re actively making the world worse whether knowingly or unknowingly.

blanketswithsmallpox ,
blanketswithsmallpox ,

Yeah there’s been a few Lemmy or Reddit links that have had similar lists I thought I saved but couldn’t find them. Had to default to that.

blanketswithsmallpox ,

Yeah and of the entire subgroup they pick furry talk to be drunk? Near every one of those cat fuckers are alcoholics. At minimum triple this. To really get that meow meow talk you’d need to convince one of those teetotaler tiny girls to drink but you know she won’t. Instead you’re trying to get an alcoholic 190lb man named Blaze drunk enough to start that kitty babble? Try six lol.

blanketswithsmallpox ,

No heat, no radiation, no mass anymore, so heath is a vacuum?

blanketswithsmallpox ,

Reminds me of the fight porn video on reddit recently where a sp./port. Andrew Tate elbowed someone out because another guy fell asleep on his shoulder ring the subway and he had to have a closet gay fit of felonies.

Lynn Conway, leading computer scientist and transgender pioneer, dies at 85 (www.latimes.com)

I have mixed feelings on the pronoun use, but having read some of her autobiographical writing I don’t think she would have taken much issue with it. This piece is more focused on her work in computer engineering, so I felt it was appropriate to post here.

blanketswithsmallpox ,

Man makes fire and farming. Is subsequently responsible for every death known to man.

How dare they!

blanketswithsmallpox ,

Fire cook food. Fire also kill…

So no, it’s really not lol. Most people smart enough to invent shit know that in can be used for evil. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t use nuclear energy. There is nuance behind advancing civilization.

The people intelligent enough to make these things are usually looking far beyond anyone else and the military’s money is just as good as anyones.

blanketswithsmallpox ,

You gross ass JeeBaiChow mother fucker this is why people get sick from going to stores.

Get your fucking fingers out of your god damn mouth. Yuck. What the hell did you do during Covid lockdowns?

blanketswithsmallpox ,

Dad, you fucking suck.

blanketswithsmallpox ,

We’ve established that already. This is why she left you for uncle.

blanketswithsmallpox ,

No, I get my terrible habits from you apparently ya germ spreading Covid weasel.

blanketswithsmallpox ,

Old shit?: Bimetallic strips and clever designs.

New shit: Read the manual!

blanketswithsmallpox ,

$5 Black Mesa brother. It looks phenomenal now.

blanketswithsmallpox ,

New Black Mesa is Half Life…

blanketswithsmallpox ,

Negative. I’ll take a look, thanks.

blanketswithsmallpox ,

Black Mesa is literally just better looking Half-Life approved by Valve. I can really only say the same thing so many times before you understand that what I’m saying is what it is lol.

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Mesa_(video_game)

blanketswithsmallpox ,

No, I just think you’re kinda dumb now looking for a pedantic fight on Lemmy of all places trying to argue that Half-Life and Black Mesa aren’t the same story and essential game lol.

Study finds 1/4 of bosses hoped Return to Office would make staff quit (www.theregister.com)

HR software biz BambooHR surveyed more than 1,500 employees, a third of whom work in HR. The findings suggest the return to office movement has been a poorly-executed failure, but one particular figure stands out - a quarter of executives and a fifth of HR professionals hoped RTO mandates would result in staff leaving....

blanketswithsmallpox ,

I go in to eat all the pussy and dick I can find.

blanketswithsmallpox ,

Survey says: the same.

McDonalds tastes the same everywhere. Which is why it’s the go to home food for people who travel.

Just like Panda Garden is for Asian people at airports lol. It’s American food that’s close enough to what they’d actually prefer.

blanketswithsmallpox ,

Oh absolutely. McDonalds and most other conventional American fast food joints can have crazy menus in some countries.

Japanese KFC and McDonalds look particularly fun.

blanketswithsmallpox ,

Emergence in action.

blanketswithsmallpox ,

Emergence. As in when something becomes greater than the sum of it’s parts. Sapience. Life. Consciousness.

m.youtube.com/watch?v=16W7c0mb-rE

m.youtube.com/watch?v=UebSfjmQNvs

blanketswithsmallpox ,

WhaaaaaaaaaaaAaaaaaaat? Lol.

Homie you’re overthinking emergence.

You cannot explain consciousness through the collision of atoms.

It’s literally something being bigger in human thought than the sum of it’s parts. That’s it.

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emergence

blanketswithsmallpox , (edited )

The second video goes into that a lot. You’re right though that the lens of how people view the world is a belief. People tend to fall on one side or the other for a reason, most of which is related to external vs internal locus of control which is also an order beyond lol. I get it, people want science to be black and white for a reason because order.

And no, you genuinely cannot explain politics with particle physics because it’s a human construct sufficiently advanced to not be explained by it’s baser inputs. Explaining the concept of philosophy through particle physics is a fools errand because they have nothing to do with each other lol. You’re trying to fit the circular block in the square hole… hehe.

There are orders of magnitude to these things where something can be explained sufficiently as long as they’re close enough in literal size scale to each other, but you go further and it breaks down.

You’re not an automaton, you’re thinking to yourself right now and have probably formed relationships with many people which requires concepts like love which can be explained partly with oxytocin but you don’t get love by saying this hydrogen couples with this oxygen spot on a hormone receptive cell, biomarker, particle, etc… You have to introduce hormones, larger systems, human bonds, replication, feel good molecules up and up until it’s something different that’s lost on just saying this fits here and does this other thing.

Could you explain the entire science_meme culture experience browsing Lemmy by only describing chemistry? You’d be hard pressed to not be able to describe it without having to use multiple human-only concepts once you get past the internet, simple changes in your body to make you feel good browsing, seeing, color, reddit exodus, keyboard, breathing, laughing, the dichotomy, the concept of false or propaganda lol.

blanketswithsmallpox , (edited )

Besides thirty minutes of well sourced videos and an entire wiki page with more source than I could ever provide?

It sounds like you’re just obstinately head in sand sealioning stupid now lol. It’s like asking for a source paper on the entirety of particle physics lmfao. Like what?

blanketswithsmallpox , (edited )

I mean you’re not wrong with how you’re thinking about hard STEM sciences but it’s needlessly gatekeeping and full on incorrect to say others aren’t good science. Most of them are very necessary and very real science usually far more important to the world than anyone to the right of the graph in your end of the Purity kxcd lol.

FWIW there’s not competing sciences for even most of the STEM ones either. If you think there is… well you might just be studying string theory still lmfao.

Gotta feel sorry for made up quirks of mathematics that always fall apart when applied in the real world though lol. They make for fun what ifs but damn if they aren’t fleecing their way to a paycheck for hypersensationalized headlines for super fringe never proveable theorems.

blanketswithsmallpox ,

It’s not about some ideological purity but a basic difference in the ability to learn things because of our inability to control the relevant variables.

We are just going to have to disagree then. Said variables are heavily controlled, well known about, and usually spoken about in every paper about issues it might have.

I’m pretty confident we’re at an impasse now so not much more to say since the long thread has brought in too many side musings too.

Take care.
