Holy shit America is crazy. How do you get to the point where more kids are dying of guns than cars in a country with too many cars. And why has poisoning gone up so much?
It was his math contributions people liked. Particularly his invention of calculus which could be used to solve a plethora of unsolved math problems. It’s not because he said things fell.
On the other hand, spontaneous generation was very much still a thing at this point, so a lot of the basic rules of the world around us were really not worked out yet
I love that Newton had to invent calculus twice, because he was trying to teach it to someone else and they weren’t getting it, so Isaac got frustrated and threw the only copy of his notes into the lit fireplace.
Is the game worth tuning into? I maybe catch 2-3 games a season but I almost never watch the super bowl any more because its like, never a good exciting, close game.
Though plenty would disagree I’m sure, I’d say it was one of the best Superbowls ever. Both defensive squads played their hearts out and the game was 75 minutes of back and forth scrambling. Kind of sad that Mahomes won the MVP, he had a pretty meh game (by his normal standards). It was their defense that deserves credit for the win, hell even Butker more so than Mahomes. The fact that they broke the old field goal distance record three times in this one game is crazy.
yeah I caughttheast 5 minutes and the over time. Very exciting game. def the best super bowl I’ve ever seen, at least since Pats Seattle when Seattle blew it.
Refunding simply the sales price means the users lose out because the $100 I paid for my library 5 years ago is worth less now due to inflation. Simply giving me back $100 now would yield a value of $80 back in 2019.
Me at 14 trying to recreate my favorite palm-muted metal strumming patterns from songs I know: "what the hell why does their shit sound so good and thumping and my shit sounds like AM radio static in a tin can?"
Me, many many years later: "BASS! IT WAS ALL MISSING THE FUCKING BASS!"
It took a while as a guitarist/keyboard player just learning and starting out to realize how fundamental it is. I kept trying to turn up the low end of things in the mixer in my software to compensate without realizing what I was missing.
I had exactly the same experience. The manager answered me “wait, I can actually raise you! Here it is!”. I merely had to be a dick like them for them to do something. I still left.
Wife an I met and got married when I was 25 and she was 19. We had some life experience and knew what we wanted. 15 years later, it’s still amazing, we’re still best friends and inseparable. When I met her I got this weird feeling, like I met someone I had somehow known all my life. It felt like I met my wife in a past life, and was immediately like “oh there you are!” When I met her in this one.
Similarly, my wife and I married at ages 23 and 22, respectively, just over twenty years ago. Altogether, we’ll have been by each other’s side for 24 years this Friday (a date I consider more important than our elopement anniversary) and I can’t imagine anyone else by my side on this stupid, cruel journey around the sun.
I maintain that I was married to her in a past life. From our first date we clicked immediately. It felt like I was back into a groove with someone I’ve known forever. She came over to stay at my place for the weekend after like our 4th date, she never left. We’ve been living together since like 3 weeks after meeting, and we have never regretted it. We have kids and love each other and our life immensely.
And that can be cool! Discussions can get heated sometimes and that can be healthy. Debate is awesome as long as both people are willing to be possibly be proven wrong or stop the conversation when it is unresolvable.
If you can agree in one thread and disagree in another, awesome.
Discussions on the internets can devolve into ad hominem attacks quickly though. Another thing I noticed is that it’s very tempting to “get the last word in”, at all costs. Both of these things suck ass.
Words are hard. Words are harder when you type them. Words change meaning based on your frame of mind or specific biases. (Can someone please invent telepathy???)
