I get where you’re going but on the other side of your fear of the state you are denied release from what could be immense suffering because the state deems it.

Body autonomy is in my opinion a very crucial part of human rights even if the decisions is ultimately a mistake. You can’t really stop people from committing suicide, all you can do is make it less humane.

But this doesn’t stop anyone from spying on them. Data collection, aggregation, sale, and exploitation is entirely legal so if the Chinese government wants your data they can buy it wholesale for less than maintaining TikTok from Google, Microsoft, Apple, Meta, Discord, and Amazon.

All you’re doing is taking a bunch of blubbering buffoon’s at their word that this is for your protection.

Not only does the salary go down in small towns but the number of positions are greatly reduced. All it takes is a layoff and that “cheaper” small town could be too expensive because there are no more positions to fill.

It’s not about the legal liability and more that publically traded corporations only want profit. Reddit would need to cater to advertisers who would not like all the porn, it’s why Tumblr and Imgur removed the porn.

It’s one thing to regulate foreign corporations and you don’t see me making a case against the EU for regulating Apple or Google. You see me saying this isn’t about data collection like they say, it’s about preserving US power in the software space. The US is completely within it’s rights to block TikTok but you don’t need to lie to me and say it’s for security. The servers are located in the US, there’s no real evidence China has done anything illegal and if Google did the same thing and sold the data to China it would be fine. This whole issue is a bunch of individuals sucking on billionaire tech giant toes.

Many studios are in a real pinch because the executives are fucking awful and the first people they punish are the people who would also never get raises because Valve took 12% instead of 20%.

The real difference is for games that don’t sell a lot of copies, that don’t reach that 20% at $50 million in sales and 25% at $10 million in sales. We’re talking about really small games at this point. Even games like Factorio should be around this $50 million in sales point with 3.5 million sales although idk how much for each sale with regional pricing.

We’d honestly be pretty hard-pressed to come up with a game small enough to be in the 30% cut tier but also a game where the cut is what makes or breaks the game instead of market saturation. I agree that Steam should lower the cut they take but I do not believe in the crap Sweeny spits about caring for devs while also making the devs who work for him do so much overtime.

He doesn’t mean “devs” he means “profits” that he will never share with devs, he just can’t play with your emotions and make you care as the trickle down economics never come around again.

A bigger cut for developers would be nice if mostly any gaming studio actually did profit sharing. I’m not going to be riled up and motivated for some capitalists to get a fat fucking bonus while using a shittier platform. But billionaire Sweeny is all for claiming it’s all for the little guy while not giving a shit if his own employees stack up 60hr work weeks.

How has it been anal about Linux? Are we talking Galaxy? The launcher is pretty butt and it’s better to just download the games directly and then they can be run with proton because of the lack of DRM.

Generally Steam does a lot more, especially for linux but GoG is the only store offering DRM free as the default.

Edit to add: I’m talking about the US. The 13th amendment didn’t outlaw slavery, all it takes is for the government to decide you are a criminal and you’re now legally a slave. You can imagine this might be a good reason to not want the US government involved in your privacy because it can lead to you being a literal slave.

Chevy doesn’t make the Volt anymore and stopped making the Bolt. They are cutting off android auto and apple carplay to make you pay a subscription just like Tesla and Rivian. You can not pay for their connection service and just use those services with Ford and Hyundai I think but beyond that we’re talking extremely niche EVs.

Tesla is the market trend in the US and all of the EVs in the US are trying for that tablet in a hospital waiting room vibe.
