2 may be the only even prime - that is it’s the only prime divisible by 2 - but 3 is the only prime divisible by 3 and 5 is the only prime divisible by 5, so I fail to see how this is unique.
Exactly, “even” litterally means divisible by 2. We could easily come up with a term for divisible by 3 or 5. Maybe there even is one. So yeah 2 is nothing special.
My 3 favorite experiences with language as an American:
(1) My Jamaican coworker who I couldn’t understand for the life of me and my Ukrainian coworker who my Jamaican couldn’t understand at all, the Ukrainian coworker understood the Jamaican coworker just fine though and I understood my Ukrainian coworker just fine. Basically it turns into a fun game of telephone whenever we need to talk.
(2) My former coworker from Haiti who no one but the hiring manager and I could understand, the best part about this is that I didn’t know he had an accent. I just didn’t hear it somehow. He was a great guy, he went back home a few years ago when his mother passed. Got stuck due to the pandemic and never came back to the company. I hope he’s doing well.
(3) My former coworker from Guatemala insisting English wasn’t my first language as to him it sounded like English was my second language at best. I’ve been working on it since then. I still suck at it.
All entertainment fills a need in your daily life. It only makes sense that the need changes as you grow older.
When I was younger, I was poor and had something to prove. Thus, I loved big games with hundreds of hours of gameplay, grinding for the best bobbles, and competitive multiplayer experiences.
But as I get older, I don’t care about any of that anymore. What I need instead is a way to relax within my short gaming windows, to have unique experiences, and maybe have a sense of control as my life gets more chaotic. As a result, I’ve tended more towards shorter indie titles. But also towards non-gaming things like travel, gardening, and crafting hobbies.
We spent so much of our lives building our identity around a single hobby - gaming. And maybe that was a mistake. So many of us end up sliding away from gaming as we get older and that change is okay and even expected, that shouldn’t give us an existential crisis.
Your identity should reflect the person you are, not the thing you do.
Getting old is strange. I keep trying to go to house or techno shows in the basement of restaurants or other weird places, convinced it’ll be a great time because I used to enjoy it. My knees hurt and I’d rather be home most of the time. It’s okay for things to have a beginning, middle, and end. Also, not to be nitpicky but just because I think it’s a fun word: it’s “baubles”
I just don’t want to be homeless when I am old. That’s all I want. Having food and housing. A two room apartment for me and my husband would be nice. If I can use the public transport on top of that, I’m all set. A three room apartment would be a luxury and being able to go out every once in a while would be absolutely astronomical.
(I also want to have healthcare but I am in Germany so I got that going for me which is nice. )
Modest home. Stone fruit trees. Nice big pole barn for projects.
My wife and I have been searching for community and reasonable housing costs. My data analyst self began mad research of all sorts for about a year. Then, we moved into a vehicle and explored for eight months.
Boots on the ground, we learned that everything is much, much better if you’re at least 40 minutes from the closest Walmart. This is harder than it seems. It’ll likely be an hour+ commute to a workplace with decent pay. But, it’s been consistently true wherever we’ve traveled (US): No Walmart nearby means a solid community and cheap land.
We found a place we like. My wife accepted a job offer today. We bought a 14’ enclosed utility trailer and will build a temporary home in the two weeks before we leave, avoiding rent and mortgage until we find the perfect piece of land.
Those 5-10‰ of the time are absolutely excruciating when you’ve gotten used to SSD gaming, though. Especially when you have moderate to severe ADHD so any kind of waiting sets the Gears of Distraction in motion lol.
And it’s almost always an AAA game even though those are the ones with the LEAST excuse for not being optimized
Dunno sometimes it’s gotta be something with their asset loading methodology. I put Battletech on my NVME and it still had crazy like 3-5-minute loads. A mod fixes it really well though and made the otherwise-great game much more playable.
Yeah I built my pc two years ago. Didn’t bother with an ssd, wound up getting 4tb of ssd last year because it needed it (well I thought that’s what it needed, it did need it, but my problem was in addition to dragging over my old hdds I also just kept the same 8gb ram stick, turns out games actually run when you have 32gb ram)
I personally just compensate for my HDD array’s slowness with RAM. Cyberpunk 2077 runs at more than 30fps on an rx580 being loaded off a HDD with 20GB RAM on Linux.
it’s not just that though, AAA gameplay has largely evolved to waste time. pointless side quests, pointless collectibles, pointless giant maps, pointlessly going from one end of the map to the other back and forth just to complete some bullshit quest, pointless grinding…
well i say pointless, but there is actually a reason to make playing these games such a chore.
100% XP boost: would you like to pay us for the privilege to play our game half as much this week?
Lately, it’s been Hades II, Jusant, trying to finish Cocoon, and I’m gonna retry starting Outer Worlds (couldn’t get into it before for some reason).
But I can’t really give you a comprehensive list since playing indie games usually means playing tons of different stuff all the time. These are just my very current games at this point.
I do play some AAA games. C2077 was pretty good; I finished the main game but still haven’t gotten into the DLC though. I also still regularly play Overwatch, begrudgingly. I like the gameplay but still hate the monetization and the fact that there is no real competition that scratches the same itch.
Either go do some marksmanship training and finally do something about it yourself for once in your pathetic life, or shut the fuck up about wishing other people dead on the internet because it’s not nice.
Obligatory fuck that orange piece of shit I hope he loses and mopes back to his paradise Florida mansion to die an old man.
I know you dont have any friends or loved ones that value your life but i do and i have obligations so until the cities descend into full madness and chaos i have people that rely on me for support.
So shut the fuck up before i take my marksman training to yours first before i start the war on conservation. I wish you dead as well fucker.
I think non-militarized cops, so most non-American ones, are not that bad and are generally more decent people than militarized cops. It’s amazing how much better policing can be when cops don’t carry guns with them all the time
In Europe all cops carry guns and yet most cops I’ve gotten to talk to are great. I’m Italian and all Italian cops I’ve talked to have been great to me and often times I ask them for directions when I get lost in our metropolitan cities. I don’t think it has got to do with guns, but rather police training. Compared to the US most EU countries have a training period of 2yr rather than the 6mo I’ve heard from friends and family typical of the US, which ultimately allows cops to be better prepared and police trainers to weed out the unsuitable.
As Snowden, Assange, and other whistleblowers have shown, in The Land of the Free™ the carriers are in bed with the government. I doubt it’s all that different in other Five/Nine/Fourteen Eyes countries.
I’m pretty sure that him being an ex-president is a better known fact. But still, him being the first and only criminal ex-president is pretty remarkable. Keep it in the first sentence!
No. A lot of his followers think he is not convicted. That’s a shame jury. A lot still think he is president and didn’t loose to Joe Biden. The most damning truths about him have been pushed aside and ignored.
I’m inclined to agree with this comment, to be honest:
Use Barak Obama page as an example. First sentence is about him as a US President. The second sentence is about something he was particularly special for – bring first African-American US President. Both sentences are above the portrait.
The same should be done for Donald Trump – first sentence is about him being a US President. The second sentence (still above the portrait) is about him being the first US President convicted of a felony
It’s Wikipedia, even the Nazis have to try to sound rational or they get banned. Don’t be fooled by the tone. They are lying and there’s tons of articles of politicians with their criminal history in the lede.
