I love waterproof phones. I love that manufacturers can charge me almost as much as my phone is worth for a battery change, because of a feature I didn‘t ask for and I don‘t need at all.

For more easily replaceable batteries? You can get a Fairphone (www.fairphone.com) if water resistance is not important to you. Fairphone 4 is IP54 so it is somewhat water resistant, but not submerge-resistant. If you want repairability, you can get a fairphone.
There are also phones with both water-submerge resistance and replacible batteries (but not as repairable as a Fairphone): Samsung Galaxy xCover (www.samsung.com/us/business/…/galaxy-xcover-pro/)
May I ask why you avoid Samsung? After trying out many different brands (currently using a Sony Xperia) I actually think Samsung might be the best option out there. There is always a big selection of cases and screen protectors available and the user experience is usually great. Not trying to advertise or anything, just curious.
As a kid, it was where you got all the coolest remote controlled cars and helicopters (pre drones). As an electronics tinkerer, they had drawers full of components and other parts for all electronic needs.
The same old 555 timers, opamps, and LED PCB xmas trees they've been selling for 30 years are nice but...there's much more interesting shit now and they didnt seem to catch on to that until the very end when they suddenly rushed out all the Arduino shit.
Around here, Micro Center replaced Radio Shack for my component impulse buy needs, and they even have Adafruit and Sparkfun stuff, and several aisles of a variety of other hobby electronics stuff. It's RadioShack x100.

When the jerboa was crashing right after opening it. That was a better experience than using the official Reddit app. And since 99% of my time on Reddit was spent on mobile devices, I‘m not going back there.
We still have Toys R Us in Canada. As an adult there’s really not much to get excited about in there anymore. At least Radio Shack could bring out some middle aged tinkering in me.
I’ve got notifications for when a new release comes out and I normally get at least one a day, one time I got like 5 in a day The development is going crazy fast, and it’s still amazingly good!
But if they day is less than 12 you have no way of verifying it’s not supposed to actually be DD-MM-YYYY, plus sorting by date is all fucked if you don’t put year first…
