Yeah, not only are these crocs instead of gators, the roads are straight with no pot holes

I have never experienced any of this. Have you only been in cars that have been made after 2015 or something? Cars don’t make most people sick. Food doesn’t get anywhere in the car with even a modicum of care. Last point is moot because with even the slightest amount of care, food doesn’t drop into the car. Unless you are trying to scarf onion rings while flying down the interstate, I don’t see any of this ever happening.

I was explaining to my daughter about the differences between Gimp and Photoshop and saw that Adobe had a page that claimed to compare the two. It never compares the two. It barely mentions Gimp. (www.adobe.com)

I expected ridiculous propaganda from Adobe, but they give absolutely no reasons why Photoshop is better than Gimp and list a bunch of things that Gimp can do too....

Of all video game bosses in existence, fighting game bosses are the most bullshit of them all. You typically have to find some way to cheese them to death before they do it to you.

New bloatware installs with every update. I hate it.

This ties into the comment I was going to make separately. For context, my dad recently passed. First father’s day without him. My mom asked to watch a movie that meant something to the both of them because they saw it together in a drive in on release and it was very memorable because the technology and techniques used were fascinating at the time. She complained that it wasn’t on Disney+ or anywhere.

You may have guessed it, but she requested Song of the South. One serious moral quandary later, I got it ready for her to watch.

Tomorrow is gonna be rough, but at least my sailing might bring some good memories for her.

No. Megaton is a blight on the scenic view from that tower, not to mention that the longer it exists, the higher the threat is to the people around it.

It goes back to the origin stated here. It was desirable because they could afford to effectively waste a lot of acreage on a crop that had no benefit. Simply for show.

Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home Was Forced To Follow A Strict William Shatner Rule. [It's all about Kirk all the time.] (www.slashfilm.com)

“The approach we were told to take is that Kirk really had to be the one to lead everyone. […] Not necessarily that he had to actually have the idea to do something, but it had to appear as if he has the idea.”...

jawa21 ,
@jawa21@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

If you have fun watching it, then go for it. The whole Shatner focused thing makes a lot of sense. He would setup shots in minutes instead of the industry norm of hours just for that focus.

Hi! We imagine that Starfleet runs NixOS here.

jawa21 OP ,
@jawa21@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

Yeah, I get that. I do, however, really like how FireDragon comes with a lot of the extension I’d like to use, and with searx as the default web search. It also takes almost no time to switch to a much better KDE layout as opposed to the seemingly script kiddie dr4a6onized default.

jawa21 OP ,
@jawa21@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

Very fair. I’m a far cry from an advanced user - I know just enough to be dangerous to myself, and didn’t see that. As I said in another comment, though, I do like that the default browser is somewhat hardened and uses a decent searx instance as the default search. It does seem to be marketed towards teenagers, though, unfortunately.

jawa21 OP ,
@jawa21@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

I mostly appreciate the pre-installed browser that takes many less steps to harden than a fresh install.

jawa21 OP ,
@jawa21@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

Yeah, it is obvious hyperbole.

Thanks for this. I just tested with a VPN active and had the same issue. It may be the poor overworked adapter. I am going to get a cheap USB adapter and see if it will hold up.With VPN on and losing DNS, it has to be the adapter finally giving up the ghost =/

Commenting to update: With great sadness, I tried undoing my multimonitor setup and going back to just the laptop display, This worked flawlessly! I don’t know if if the system wasn’t respecting my configs, the hardware somehow healed itself, or what. For now, I’m back in pure laptop mode (which sucks, because 22" vs 15" is a giant downgrade). However, it’s all working…

I didn’t want to do any of that crap either, which is why I installed Garuda. I love the workflow of ocean and may, but have no interest in spending an entire day installing an OS. It has been really good to me.

jawa21 ,
@jawa21@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

I am beyond excited for this new season!

jawa21 ,
@jawa21@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

Despite being a prequel, I think they are telling a unique (and imo awesome) story. We know the end result, but between the decent writing and S tier acting I think that this has the chance to be remembered as the best Trek ever imo. I may be in the minority, but having a hard coded ending shields the show from Paramount getting bored with it and forcing a bs ending. Even if they try, we know what happens in the end.

jawa21 ,
@jawa21@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

As long as we don’t get a Mass Effect style ending, I’ll be fine. I’ve always liked Trek, but SNW made me love it. I love the acting so much that it’d take a lot to get me to hate what the writers are potentially forced to do. My only real problem with Discovery is that in the end it focuses on a single character, and that can feel tiring at best. SNW makes it feel like the whole crew is important with a story to tell. My head cannon is that whatever is written, Pike is willing to use 7th century cookware inventions to make his crew happy, and to great effect. I’ll never get over him giving a shit about the entire crew.

As far as the potential ending BS goes, I think the writers for this series legitimately have more respect for the franchise than to just make final episode simply “Pike got hurt and now can only beep boop in a chair like a boss.” The “minor” characters matter here. This might be me just fangirling, but I have huge hopes for SNW going into (hopefully) S5 or beyond.

KDEnlive is useful for inline video editing, and Davinci Resolve is more of a pro level tool. I have no idea about Vegas.

Garuda has been great to me. Changing the universal theme in KDE is a really painless process, too.

It is recommended to start with a simple, cheap, orb from a big box retailer. After that, you should be able to craft your own and ponder it.
