If your domain is your actual name, then it should be trivial to create an SMTP alias for [email protected] that is for [email protected].

Attach that to your email address and inbound email for either will get to you, but only your primary address will be used for outbound communication.

Another fun one…

Gmail ignores periods in addresses.

So [email protected] also gets email for:

[email protected]
[email protected]

Or any combination…

[email protected]

This should disqualify him from ever holding office again. I know it won’t, but it should.

Open Office was a cesspool of disease, even before covid it was problematic:

passporthealthusa.com/…/2020-2-how-do-open-office…

Studies have found that that those who work in open offices are more likely to take short term sick leave or a sick day. Those employees might be using 62% more of their sick days due to the environment. Employees with this office layout are also more prone to headaches and respiratory problems due to weakened immune systems.

“why, in a universe vast and ancient enough to host billions of potentially habitable planets, we have not detected any signs of alien civilizations.”

Our solar system is essentially in the boondocks galactically speaking.

It’s the equivalent of an Iowa farmer going out on his front porch and going “Well, shit, I can see for MILES and I don’t see any evidence of any ‘New York City!’”

There are LOTS of reasons we might not be able to detect alien civilizations, #1 being we’ve spent entirely too much time looking at radio waves.

As of last year, we’re on the edge of having a communications system that doesn’t use radio waves:

asme.org/…/passive-wireless-system-is-powered-by-…

My favorite is the potential to send 1s and 0s via quantum entanglement, but that’s still sci-fi at this point:

thequantuminsider.com/…/quantum-entanglement-comm…

So, what? A 100 year window of using radio waves before they become obsolete?

It gets worse… Here in Oregon, if you moved, they would just print and ship you a sticker with the corrected address.

Now, they don’t even do that. They update the address in the computer system, but the drivers license will continue to have the old address.

jordanlund ,
@jordanlund@lemmy.world avatar

Or just bypass the stupidity and get a passport/passport card instead.

jordanlund ,
@jordanlund@lemmy.world avatar

It’s used as address verification for employers, but you just tell them “Oh, that’s old, my new address is…”

Problem: It’s a different kind of plastic from the bottle and isn’t recyclable. So it’s going to need to be cut off the bottle anyway. :(

I seriously doubt bottlecaps are any different elsewhere.

Naw, naw, it’s cool… see, surely their income went up 30% in 5 years, right?.. Right?

jordanlund ,
@jordanlund@lemmy.world avatar

951 to 1136, Q1 2020 to Q1 2024.

+19.45% from Q1 2020, which doesn’t help you if rent is +30% and inflation in general hit +9%.

Q1 2019 was 899, so +26%, a little closer.

But the REAL problem is workers don’t see that gain unless they change jobs. Working the same job year after year you’re lucky to get 4% per year.

Shit like this is why women want to go live in the woods with the bears.

WTF was camera guy doing? He clearly moves the camera as the attack is ongoing. Maybe get up off your ass and do something?

jordanlund ,

Well, that makes more sense… I can’t imagine anyone just watching this happen.

Why when it’s explained in the reply?

Israel crossed the line from self defense into genocide when they started ruthlessly executing innocent civilians and aid workers. You cannot justify their bullshit.

Propaganda/Genocide denial/justification removed.

jordanlund ,

You simply are not paying attention or sea lioning if you’re demanding sources.

But for anyone else who may have missed it:

Israel illegally attacked and killed aid workers in Southern Lebanon:

hrw.org/…/israel-us-arms-used-strike-killed-leban…

Then followed it up by illegally and attacking World Central Kitchen workers in Gaza.

I’ve been saying this for years now ever since they pulled out of Gamescom and just let Sony have Europe.

When was that? 2016?

I mean he JUST turned 18… I’ll give Trump that one… plus, I can’t remember how old my kid is either… Coming up on 28 here in a few months.

jordanlund ,
@jordanlund@lemmy.world avatar

My kid was tricky because of the date… I couldn’t remember if he was turning 18 on the 19th or 19 on the 18th. It was one of those…

But that was 10 years ago now.

jordanlund ,
@jordanlund@lemmy.world avatar

Lawyers aren’t entering in to remembering how old your kid is, I’m just saying I’ve been there so I give him a pass on that one. Only that one though. :) The rest of his fuckery is on him.

“That vehicle was completely unmarked. In my mind, this was not good, right?" Dr. Sean Hollonbeck told WEAR News.

I can’t say I’ve seen an unmarked Uber or Lyft car, generally they’re very good about displaying one or both signs, so doubting this statement from the jump.

“I served 31 years, I was an Army doctor, I trained as a Navy flight surgeon, I served with the 7th Special Forces Group, I served with the 160th," Hollonbeck said. "I served six tours.”

Then you should know better.

weartv.com/…/milton-dad-accomplished-veteran-tell…

“And everybody knows what’s going on in this country with fentanyl and child trafficking and rape. Terrible stuff.”

If they were engaging in child trafficking, why would they be bringing her BACK to your house? 🤔

“In this country you’re innocent until proven guilty,”

You mean, like the Uber driver?

jordanlund ,
@jordanlund@lemmy.world avatar

For the sticker thing, we had this solution waaaaaaay back in the day when I was in college…

Parking sticker had to be displayed, but if you didn’t want to permanently mount it to one car, you did this:

Take the lid off a casette tape case, put the sticker on that, put the lid on the dashboard. Take it with you when you don’t need it.

https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/84ee3f01-4a2c-4756-a612-509e6cee9c47.jpeg

I guess nowadays you’d use the lid off a CD case. :)

jordanlund ,
@jordanlund@lemmy.world avatar

Replaced casette tapes. :)

‘We will fight with our fingernails’ says Netanyahu after US threat to curb arms (www.theguardian.com)

Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed that Israel will stand alone and “fight with our fingernails” in defiance of US threats to further restrict arms deliveries if Israeli forces proceeded with an offensive on the southern Gazan city of Rafah....

It wouldn’t end the war, Israel will keep re-categorizing Palestinians as “the enemy” to justify their extermination campaign.

You have to keep in mind that the reason the Palestinians voted Hamas into power was a direct reaction to Israeli hostility.

It existed before Hamas, and will continue after Hamas.

Study reveals "widespread, bipartisan aversion" to neighbors owning AR-15 rifles (www.psypost.org)

A recent study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences reveals that across all political and social groups in the United States, there is a strong preference against living near AR-15 rifle owners and neighbors who store guns outside of locked safes. This surprising consensus suggests that when it comes...

jordanlund ,
@jordanlund@lemmy.world avatar

I’d be more concerned about a neighbor wearing a MAGA hat and flying a Trump 2024 flag than someone quietly owning an AR-15.

But that’s because I’m aware of the statistics.

statista.com/…/mass-shootings-in-the-us-by-weapon…

“Handguns are the most common weapon type used in mass shootings in the United States, with a total of 166 different handguns being used in 116 incidents between 1982 and December 2023. These figures are calculated from a total of 149 reported cases over this period, meaning handguns are involved in about 78 percent of mass shootings.”

jordanlund ,
@jordanlund@lemmy.world avatar

They actually do mention it when used, but like I say, the use is minimal compared to handguns.

AR-15 shootings get more ATTENTION when they happen which gives the impression they are more prevelant than they are.

I think this year there have been two? The woman at Joel Osteen’s church back in February who shot two people before being killed herself.

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lakewood_Church_shooting

And this idiot who shot up a fleeing car back in April, injuring nobody. Police couldn’t even find property damage.

wjla.com/…/washington-dc-crime-man-released-from-…

Had to google for that one. Nobody got hurt so lower press coverage.

jordanlund ,
@jordanlund@lemmy.world avatar

Deadliest again is not “most prevalent”. Yes, that is what gets the attention and makes everyone scared, but they are not as common as the media wants everyone to believe.

jordanlund ,
@jordanlund@lemmy.world avatar

I see Bond Arms is working around that by releasing a lever action AR-15. Will be interesting to see where that goes.

It would still run afoul of the magazine size ban, but I expect that to get struck down by the Supreme Court.
