There’s no way this isn’t a known spell somewhere within the wizarding world. Another example of the shitty education system found in the Harry Potter universe
Not sure how much longer I’ll be using the 5950x tbh. We’ve reached a point where the mobile processors have faster multicore (for the AI 370) than the 5950X without gulping down boatloads of power.
To put this into context, the zen5 X3D chips aren’t out yet so this isn’t really an apples to apples comparison between generations. Also, zen5 was heavily optimized for efficiency rather than speed - they’re only like 5% faster than zen4 (X series, not X3D ofc) last I saw but they do that at the zen3 TDPs, which is crazy impressive. I’m not disagreeing with you about the 7800X3D - I love that chip, it’s def a good one - just don’t want people to get the wrong idea about zen5.
I mean yeah, all these big tech companies are trying to make their products feel faster, because that’s the only space they can compete. When it comes to privacy, they all lose.
Google just maliciously makes their websites work way worse on Firefox. For YouTube I personally just use FreeTube on desktop and Tubular (A NewPipe fork) on Android so I never have to interact with that goddamn website
I’m fine with a slow update cycle as long as they don’t wait too long to actually merge app breaking features, like when recently youtube changed a few things and videos would no longer load.
Maybe instead of “Alive” you should go with “Currently able to form full sentences”. Because Biden is just as “alive” as Trump in regards to how you are trying to frame him. The same issues Biden has, Trump has - just Trump’s cult doesn’t care.
Trump makes full sentences, the fullest sentences ever by any candidate current or past, no one could ever make fuller sentences, especially the losers and suckers that Trump is running against that hate America and want to turn us into a weak nation that only produces organic electricity that can’t run our great country because it can’t go through all the rivers and lakes because the water just stops it in its tracks and it stalls like those foreign import cars that Trump is going to put tariffs on because our great capitalist America doesn’t need a bunch of foreigners telling us how to drive our cars in our country because America is great and we can do whatever we want unlike Taiwan, which isn’t even a country, and needs to go away just like NATO and NASA and NOAA and all those other government agencies in the swamp that needs to be drained because it’s full of gators that are making it difficult for people to use their yachts in all of this electric water that’s taking over this great country!
70b model taking 1.5GB? So 0.02 bit per parameter?
Are you sure you’re not thinking of a heavily quantised and compressed 7b model or something? Ollama llama3 70b is 40GB from what i can find, that’s a lot of DVDs
Failed attempts are enough to escalate things. And with enough attempts, some especially against smaller targets might succeed. It’s gonna get intetesting
The same Secret Service who left one of the only buildings in the area unsecured? Who when told there was a shooter by the crowd, ignored them? Making a lot of assumptions about competency here when that’s already directly in question.
How does one make a point using an example they know nothing about? To be clear, I agree with you, but as someone who has read a fair amount of M&E and know a ton of people who have read M&E, they are among the top 1% of readers in terms of sheer volume, but also curiosity and intellectual honesty.
Combined with the fact that the vast majority of Marx and Engels was social science, not ideological polemic, I get the impression that you are giving advice that you haven’t actually taken. Which would be fine, we are all contradictory beings to some extent. But it does beg the question.
And if you had read them, then I would want to know your insights on what you had read
That’s a lot of conclusions you jump to there, buddy.
I simply got the feeling that I got to a real Marx-head, when mentioning him and Engels in passing gets that reaction. Since I don’t particularly enjoy these kinds of conversations, I backed off.
I’ve read a bit of both Marx and Engels and watched a lecture on Marxism. I enjoy parts of Marx and don’t really like what I’ve read of Engel’s original work., is that enough?
What have you read of Engels? Socialism: Utopian and Scientific is one of my favorites. Other than some of his letters, forewords, and some essays, I’ve been really wanting to read The Conditions of the Working Class in England, since it’s referenced in Capital; and I think I have something else saved by him on my Kobo, can’t think of it ATM. I think Engels is really easy to grasp; Marx is a phenomenal writer but unless you’re in the mood to read about 1. Economics 2. Dense academic history or 3. A blistering criticism of some “Young Hegelian” scholar like Feuerbach or Bruno Bauer its hard to find something of his to just easy-read. The Manifesto is pretty accessible but it was mostly written by Engels, the two men were really one author most of the time, and I’ve read the manifesto several times and while its good its not my favorite work.
Sorry for coming off confrontational, but you picked two very good and influential thinkers to target. You could have said “don’t just read Malcolm Gladwell and Sam Harris” or “Jordan Peterson and Ben Shapiro,” who are all hacks, but very popular authors; whereas Marx and Engels have fallen out of fashion. It’s conspicuous, is all.
Dude, I told you that I’m not into that kind of discussion. And it turned out exactly the way I was afraid it would. I think that’s why you got downvoted, btw.
Also, you sound like the kind of guy I was making fun of in my first comment.
True and the worse the people are the higher up they go, great for the inverters tho, bad for society as a whole (www.yewtu.be/watch?v=STYgeA9VSc) (the video goes over how the biggest investment companies stagger society as a whole, and how the normal person buying shares in a company DONT use their voting power to change the company for the better.)
It’s sad how consumers have zero rights when it comes to digital content. Companies can retroactively make changes, removing content legitimately bought by consumers with no repercussions. I get “not owning” but for a company to collect money for services provided and not actually provide those services will never not astound me.
I mean, Telly is giving away TVs that have a camera and second screen to play ads. Sony might not think they could get away with it a decade ago, but consumers seem to slowly accept more bullshit over time so I could definitely see their calculus changing in the future.
Oh it has a second screen… have to answer ~100 questions about your viewing habits to get it… so they must only ship to likely profitable demographics. Yeah pretty much hate it :D
Honestly I think it’s just a shit idea. Only way I could see it flying is if you heavily (or completely) subsidized the cost of the television. There’s already a company giving away free ad supported TVs.
Oh yeah it’s obviously a shit idea, but that generally doesn’t stop executives when they think there’s money to be made – considering how eg. YouTube’s trying to stop you from blocking ads and will apparently start showing ads when videos are paused, requiring attention seems like a logical next step to drive that CPM up to fund the CEO’s new yacht
It’s crazy that this is real. It looks like a comic someone would make to make fun of the idea. Like the fact that they’re watching some guy shoot someone, then the burger commercial comes on and the guy stands up and cheers “McDonalds!” Before sitting back down to watch more of guy shooting other guy.
This is peak “dumb Americans” humor, and they’re using this unironically to describe their business idea.
Gary M. Zalewski is listed as the inventor. He is listed on 99 patents, several of which are related to increasing advertising proliferation and penetration. He’s basically a driver of enshittification. My favorite was “System and method for taking control of a system during a commercial break”. Can’t have the plebs changing channels!
