Thank you for this. I’m going to use it at work.

And in the mm/dd/yy format it’s also 2x ascending.

Nah I’m not nice though I am considerate. I’m not socially… apt… but I know how to act.

I mean… we grow teeth a total of 3 times. The first for our baby teeth, the second time for our ‘mature’ teeth, and the make up ‘wisdom’ teeth to fill any that might’ve fallen out at that point. I’m guessing those three growths were the most needed for humans early survival before we got all fancy with farming and hygiene. At which point we kind of broke survival of the fittest and things just kind of happen now.

Kind of like how humans are one of a handful of mammals that didn’t evolve out of menstruation.

I don’t think I played anything over the past week. I’ve been thinking about trying some fresh builds in nova drift, which is in it’s final steps to full release.

I remembered that I played dragons dogma 2, as I also did last night and there is something inherently wrong with the later parts in that game. I’m wandering through the desert sections of the map, clearing everything as I go, and I’ve flat out lost pawns while just walking on major paths. They get stuck running into a cliff face somewhere and no commands or anything else will tell them to knock it off. I literally have to go to them, pick them up, and move them away from the wall. I must have missed one of them getting this stuck as she simply despawned completely instead of teleporting back to the group. I have been besieged by roaming groups of what might as well be orcs only to look at the minimal and realize my front men are somewhere 100m back. It’s so incredibly frustrating.

Coskii ,
@Coskii@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

There were ‘sales’ on the game before it even launched, putting it back down to less than $60. Units sold doesn’t really seem like a useful metric from that standpoint.

I don’t recall ever seeing ads on reddit, and I know exactly why. On Mobile, RiF barely had ads, and desktop was all adblocked.

Though they were often the topic of crank posts, specifically the Christian ones around the atheism sub.

Coskii ,

And as soon as RiF announced it wasn’t going to be able to continue, I moved here.

When minimum wage workers requesting vacation time 3 months in advance during a non-holiday month get denied, knowing full well that the weekly schedules arent posted until just about the day before they go into effect… Yeah. People are going to do what they need to do. Goodness knows I did everytime that happened. You’d never guess how many times I’ve claimed getting Mono before covid was an option.

There are three subsets of flat earth believers.

The truthers: they legitimately believe in the flat earth. They generally haven’t traveled much or at all and have no idea the scale of things. They aren’t willing to test stuff themselves, but they will parrot anything that sounds decent.

The grifters: much like telemarket scammers asking about something antiquated (like TV boxes) they know their audience is likely going to fall for whatever they have to offer. They make videos online constantly, ask for people to join their group, squeeze whatever they can from people who want the echo chamber.

The “anti” 's who have become the Qanons: the flat earth isn’t the whole iceberg, it’s barely even the tip. It’s all just a method of control that ‘they’ want you to believe in so that you are simple sheep to their new world order and anti religious rhetoric. They don’t really care if the flat earth is real, it’s just close enough to their beliefs that they’ll assimilate it to spite ‘the man’.

And the fourth group that aren’t flat earthers at all: the trolls. They fan the flames, make the images that don’t fit the models, and generally seem to ally themselves with the flat earthers, just to laugh about it later, while also getting people who notice stuff like this to so laugh along. Flat earth is the joke and their assistance is the punchline.

There was some random video on YouTube about the original fable and I had the urge to play it again. At some point had received the anniversary edition on steam so I loaded it up. 30 minutes and a bit of motion sickness later I uninstalled it and went hunting for my actual original disk. Found it, installed it, and the options and controls are so much better… It’s amazing that they ported the Xbox version for the anniversary edition and didn’t bother to include things like mouse sensitivity, smoothing, acceleration, or really any pc specific options.

The main issue is that the camera seems to be connected to more than just character location, it seems to also be connected to orientation of some part of the character, like the hip. Combat is jittery as all hell, movement isn’t pleasant, and everything else hardly matters… I will be playing the original.

Coskii ,
@Coskii@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

After spending a bit of time back on the original, I can say that the camera controls are just naturally janky, though it is significantly worse on the anniversary edition and it might be due to something as simple as the increased aspect ratio.

Coskii ,
@Coskii@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

And then hilariously I happen across this article today about a free unreal 5 version of fable some fan has made. From the looks it seems like a prettying up of the original, but might not have changed much if anything about the gameplay.

D-pad for precision, analog for thereabouts.

Or in monster hunter, d-pad for camera with index finger, analog for movement with thumb, embrace claw until everything cramps.

I guess this is the day I’m remembering my psn password.

It's called "social jet lag". Yes I know about sleep hygiene. (lemmy.world)

It’s absolutely true that a lot of modern-day problems with being tired come from bad sleep habits. What I’m talking about is a real phenomenon that isn’t being in front of a screen too close to bedtime. If anyone wants to know more, here’s a 3-minute video from AsapSCIENCE about what research shows.

Coskii ,
@Coskii@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

This was true for me in my younger years especially, I ran on about a 32 hour cycle. As I’ve gotten used to my weekday work routine I’m much closer to a 28ish hour routine now.

Coskii ,
@Coskii@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

I wonder if all Nintendo content was removed from the internet if they’d be able to survive on word of mouth and advertisements alone?

Coskii ,

I thought about playing a lot of things. I spent about 2 hours in helldivers 2 and that was about it for the week.

My American city has at least 2 roundabouts in it, and I happen to get confused by at least one of them every time I’m trying to get somewhere.

To be fair, it’s the most American roundabout ever. Changing numbers of lanes, stop lights around it, and completely unintuitive. I seem to always be one lane more to the right of where I thought I needed to be.

Coskii ,
@Coskii@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Considering it was asked to copy the previous text, it could easily be something the creator of this screen cap had written and the chat or literally just copied. A ‘repeat after me’ into a gotcha.

Nevermind. Enough other screenshot have shown the exact same text in realistic looking prompts that I suppose this is legit… Sadly.

Coskii ,
@Coskii@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

And just like that, the boundary testing from the American extremists started their next chapter. Let’s see how this labrat does. If he gets away they’ll burn others offices, if those succeed, they’ll start with private residences. Inch by inch, they will become more aggressive. If someone gets caught, they pull back a bit… But it doesn’t stop until they have something larger to point their extremism in the direction of.

Round about a day or two. I’d likely make an oopsie while letting the zoo animals out and get myself slaughtered.

I’m not opposed to a 4 day work week, but I am always curious as to what jobs the studies have looked at to conclude that people with 4 work days instead of 5 do the same amount or more work.

I’m a construction worker. Despite the jokes about standing around, we work hard. I do not think that a 4 day work week would produce better results than a 5 day in my field.

Just for reference I’ve been doing home rehabilitations for lower income families. There’s not a ton of heavy lifting, there’s just a lot to do.

Also, a lot of guys in my line of work also work side jobs on their days off.

Coskii , (edited )
@Coskii@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

I specifically mentioned not much heavy lifting. The most taxing work I’ve had to do in the past few months was yesterday, lifting a solid core exterior for into place. And the entire second half the day was recovery while I finger painted with wood putty on all the doors and trim.

Regardless of my personal work situation, I can’t deny that there would be mental and health benefits for shorter work weeks. I just really don’t think that more work would get done in less time, which is what a lot of studies on “office” work seem to say.

Coskii ,
@Coskii@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

It would have been really nice to have had him as a president for a term. He’d be doing all the same things he’s doing now, but with more authority. It would have been really interesting to watch mainstream media have a meltdown over everything he put forward.

Coskii ,
@Coskii@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

My base comment was more about the 32 hour work week studies which usually coincide with bills of this nature, showing improved productivity and so the lobbyists overlords had nothing to worry about from the change.

As much as I enjoy my work, making end meet isn’t ever a simple task.

In no particular order:

  1. Half minute hero: quirky, quick, hilarious, and a bit stressful at times. It’s a perfect mobile title.
  2. Disgaea: infinitely scaling/playable strategy rpg. You can power through the game pretty quickly, or take your time and slowly become a god so strong that even friendly healing spells miss you.
  3. Patapon (2 and 3): rhythm based game about using drum commands to get your little dudes to complete missions.
  4. Dj max (any/all):dance dance revolution for your thumbs. Korean game featuring Korean artists. One of my favorite continuing series.
  5. Monster hunter (freedom through portable 3rd): action rpg all about them boss fights. Kill monsters, use their parts to hunt tougher monsters in a game all about incremental progression, inventory management, and learning movement patterns to git gud.
  6. Patchwork hero: do you like the dig dug stages where you slice off bits of the land to drop enemies into the water? This is that except they are airships and you must defend your homeland
  7. Lumines (1 and 2): musical game about matching colors and making combos in a tetris-esque style game. The devs went on to make tetris effect.
  8. Cladun 2: so I heard you like action rpgs, infinite scaling, pixel art, and enough grindy systems that even my power tools get jealous. Enter Cladun.

I’m wondering if I missed any I spent a disproportionate amount of time on… But these were the first ones to pop into my head.

Edit: I am finally home so I can look over my games… and I definitely forgot a couple.

  1. LOCO ROCO! It’s a very simple platformer in which you guide your little dudes through stages by using the L and R to tilt the stage. You collect fruits to increase your dude into a larger dude, or several dudes, depending on the situation.
  2. N+ Be a platforming Ninja, die a lot… like a lot a lot. It’s… simple and hard and so satisfying to clear one set of 4 stages at a time. You can even make your own stages if you’re feeling up to the challenge.

Coskii ,

Pretty much this. The floor at home isn’t in good shape, so you choose between shoes or potential splinters. I could get into a whole rant about why I live like this, but this is not the time or place.

It’s good to see those who are willing to vote with their wallets. I’m still very much playing helldivers 2. The matchmaking was recently broken and will likely be fixed before the mid week, though it certainly hurt those who just tried it out.

Matchmaking being down means I have to coordinate with the folks I know who are also playing. Thankfully for me, I have plenty of options.

Helldivers 2 was the only game I played this past week.

It clearly has a few major issues, but I’m having a ball, even when the defense mission types are completely busted and the game seemingly isn’t satisfied until it hits the cap for enemies and maintains it.

From a quick googling, most 55in led tvs use 60-90.

Coskii ,

That sucks to hear. I’ve been playing a bit here and there, and other than a few post missions crashes haven’t had any major issues.

Coskii ,

Coskii ,

  1. Consider what it is and why it made you angry
  2. Think about ways to avoid that issue/reason again

2.5. If that reason is a person, figure out if there’s anything you can reasonably do to change the situation which caused the anger

  1. If you can make changes, make them. If not, don’t fret over it and continue your day with the full understanding that you’ve done all you can and it isn’t worth any more of your time.

I my life, anger has always been a very short lived emotion. I cannot fathom being actively angry for more than 30 seconds at a time. Even if I hit the full 30 I figure it’s probably time to break from whatever I’m doing and hydrate/eat.

Helldivers 2. After a somewhat rocky launch, the game is good and enjoyable. It’s missing a lot at the moment in terms of what the first game offered, but the third person shooting is very refreshing from the top down game it once was. I was planning to spend my whole weekend on it, but seeing how quickly I’m progressing through the ranks and knowing how the difficulty curve is, I’ve decided that taking my time and waiting for further updates is preferable.

Edit: seems I missed out on login issues yesterday from literal hundreds of thousands of people joining in.

Why make them illegal? I used a vape to limit my nicotine intake and weaned myself off of smoking (and vaping) completely. It still sucked for the first 6 months and the occasional random craving that comes from being a smoker for over a decade, but at least I fought each part of the smoking addictions separately which made it bearable.

For clarity, I got 0% nicotine vape juice for a month or so before I quit puffing completely so let the withdrawal from the substance run its course, and then had to deal with the psychological side of things. Which was VERY annoying. Everytime I’d do anything where I’d normally smoke triggered a craving.

If you want to jump in head first and worry about everything else later, youtube’s DIYPerks has amazing builds with plenty of skills to back them up. It’s been great to watch him go from little led mushroom lights to literally recasing a ps5 into a portable gaming all-in-one.

It’s always a Rollercoaster with Sega. After announcing so many IPs returning after nearly two decades (or more for some titles), most people who knows of those was very happy, and now it’s tainted with this shit. I loved crazy taxi and jet set radio, but now I will really have to wait and see how they handle those games on release.

It seems you have missed the point of being in therapy. They’re not a friend, they are a guide for you to use to better understand yourself. Therapy is meant to explore parts of yourself that you want to work on or that need to be addressed (such as self harm).

Some people find it difficult to think about themselves and having someone to listen to those people’s explanation of their week might just shed some light for that person on why they feel a certain way about the things which happen around them.

It’s also something that you must actually commit to. Going to therapy and either lying constantly or being very tight lipped about things because you feel like you are being teated/judged/analysed are not going to yield any real results compared to someone who is as open as they can possibly be about themselves.

Coskii ,
@Coskii@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

It heavily depends on the reason for being in therapy, but a lot of times what people do get out of it is a different perspective on themselves and the world around them. It’s not a cure, it’s a series of plans/strategies to handle those feelings in non-destructive ways. It’s about understanding where their issue stems from, sometimes it’s just an imbalance of brain juices, sometimes it’s something to do with their past or upbringing, or education. If it’s the second one, therapy can help those people explore those parts of their past to understand the reasons why they are feeling the things they are feeling and how to mitigate or better handle those feelings.

Others have explained it fairly well too, I think you’ve got a decent enough handle on why therapists are a thing.
