I’m positive the caption is made up for a joke. The only places that talk about the true origin are subreddits which all seem to say it was drawn in a military bunker.
As a Taiwanese, I can confirm the caption was made up. I just looked up “life sentence” and “suicide” in Chinese and got no relevant results. The vibe of the picture does look Taiwanese though
Hasn’t there been a recent trend where the media doesn’t talk about suicides that happened because of copycat suicides that can occur after reporting it?
I hate you. Today I discovered a server that appeared to be in working order was actually just hanging on by a thread. The crash when the crowdstrike driver caused the blue screen of death must have corrupted some of the network configuration in the registry. When I couldnt make the failover cluster live migrate to or from that server I ejected it from the cluster and rebooted it, only it never came back up 😥
Now all my servers are suspect until I can verify that they are healthy.
In general, I don’t think the concept of a configuration database is bad - at least not inherently moreso than every application putting its own configuration file(s) in whichever format it wants somewhere on the filesystem.
Whether the window registry is a good implementation of this concept is surely debatable.
My spouse was admitted to hospital for two weeks and had several geriatric roommates. The nurse asked one of them if she knew where she was, and she yelled “IN SATAN’S ASSHOLE”.
I’m actually involved in the filming of a local horror movie that’s going to be truly awful.
It’s about mermaid monsters. I help coordinate some of the water work and act as the !production photographer and backup safety diver for the underwater scenes.
It’s going to be really, really bad. But it’s still fun!
Nurse here: we ask ‘orientation’ questions as part of our assessment
I had a younger patient going through the straights with hallucinations (newly diagnosed schizophrenia)… and I had been asking the same questions (as we do) a lot
So I asked them once again, “Do you know why you’re in the hospital?”. Their response: “Deez nuts!”
I always appreciate a good “Deez nuts” joke, but that one has been my favorite so far. The volition on their face and the shitty smirk; they’re completely tied down with a guard because they would occasionally be violent… but hot damn, that was a zinger.
I counted their response as oriented— they know what they did lol
I’m not even a vegetarian and I’ve heard way more fellow meat eaters fucking constantly bitching about vegans than I’ve ever heard vegans being annoying about it.
Tbf, there are way more non-vegans than there are vegans. I feel like this should be expected to an extent. This meme is dumb though. What vegan is out there calling non-vegans rapists?
What vegan is out there calling non-vegans rapists?
I’ve been told that before. Not being vegan implies you support terrible breeding practices which makes you a rapist… apparently… Which is especially dumb considering nobody likes the terrible breeding practices to begin with
Nobody likes the practice, the difference is that vegans take a moral stand and choose not to contribute to it, while meat eaters shrug it off and continue to pay the people committing those acts, because they’d rather cows get anally fisted and forcibly impregnated than drink a milk with a different flavour.
Your comment actually made me wonder if the Lemmy community’s vegan/vegetarian communities are better, and I need to look it up!
The reddit ones seem very hostile when I tried to participate as a person who eats meat but mostly has a vegetarian diet (and my wife is fully vegetarian)
They’re overpaying for them. Which then makes companies calculate “we could sell a lot of product at small profit margins to the general vegetarian and flexi public” vs. “we could not invest in production capacity and charge affluent urban vegans and arm and a leg” and guess what they’re going for.
The reason why there’s tons of almond etc. milks costing 3-4 times as much per litre as actual milk is not because of subsidies. It’s because vegans are stupid enough to buy 20 cents of ingredients for that price.
Interestingly, British consumer rights guru Martin Lewis is currently running a crowdsourced data gathering exercise on this in the UK.
The purpose being to identify if companies are purposefully playing these sorts of message no matter their actual call volume. (Which we all know they are, but this will help prove it)
Dandelions actually do important work for your lawn. They break up the hardened soil to make the ground softer for the grass to grow in. Letting dandelions grow will lead to a more beautiful lawn.
I like dandelions. I’d let them grow even without the additional benefits just because they’re pretty. And also fun for kids when the seeds mature and you can pluck them and blow them into the wind.
I completely agree. But for all those that want the lawn to be beautiful and healthy it’s good to have that knowledge about them. They’re useful and good looking. And you can make shitty wine from them.
