After working in a really big company for a while and seeing how incredibly degrading the hiring process is nowadays i simply woulnd’t want to apply for a job for those companies.
I just signed the contract for a much smaller company and the process was:
Apply online… via mail and just attaching some PDFs :D
"We are interested in you, we would love to do an interview. Can you come over or do you want to do this Online?"
Meeting them in person, having a nice interview and chat afterwards.
Agreeing to do this and sign the contract.
Thats it. No Booking time slots to getting interviewed bullshit. This is just ridicilous.
Even with big companies I’ve never seen one where the applicant had to find a schedule for the interview, instead of the recruiter reaching out out and checking availability. This is odd even for bigger corporations, or maybe times have changed (I haven’t applied for a new job for a while now).
That poor baby is going to end up getting raised in secret in the basement or something… Why do these people have to make their kids suffer for this nonsense? Even if that kid has a quasi normal childhood, having no SSN means they won’t be able to do almost anything as an adult
I started needing my SSN card in elementary school so I could have a savings account at a bank instead of like burying money in the yard. Can you even get health insurance without SSN?
I know ITINumbers are a thing for people who can’t get a SSN to help with taxes. I have no idea if a US born person without documents can get one though.
I think the lack of birth certificate is the bigger problem. There are in place processes for getting a social security number as an adult. I don’t know about birth certificates though.
Also, don’t they believe the government sets aside millions of dollars for every child born that the child supposedly would have access to? By their own logic, aren’t they just depriving their children of millions of dollars they would eventually be able to withdraw from using magic words?

It’s actually a really interesting question. It’s commonly believed that on horses the vestigial remnants of additional toes/hooves/foot structure are the chestnuts and ergots. They grow a material similar to a nail or horse hoof - ergots are similar, but in a different location. When they get big you just peel or clip it off. They can smell a bit strong when you trim them, but hooves smell worse when the farrier comes out!
The only good thing about the security industry in my country is all breaks are paid. However if there is a security emergency on your break you need to drop everything and sort it, as these things tend to be time sensitive.
That said do NOT get into the security industry, workers are treated terribly by the public and higher ups, if you can imagine.
That seems like a US thing? All Nordic Europe countries 8-16 is the US version of 9-5. 8-17 (9-6) would be a 4 days a week job hitting the normal 37 hour work week.
Not all Nordic countries. The main standard work weeks in Sweden are 40 hours for office work employees. Our collective union agreements for most office work places I know of agree on at least half hour unpaid lunch and at least two 15 minute paid breaks each work day. Every place I worked for had flexible hours, which meant I could choose between turning up between 7 or 9, as long as I didn’t miss meetings and worked 40 hours a week at an average, based on monthly calculations. And any overtime was compensated with double time off and/or monetary overtime compensation.
This will of course be different for shift work or nurse/doctor positions. But I’ve never worked an 8-16 job.
8-16 each day is 40 hours not counting the breaks. (Counting them would make it 37)
So do Swedish people work from 8-16, 9-5 or do office workers work from 8-17, 9-6 everyday (inkluding Friday)?
I have family in Malmö and that is not the case for them. Can’t speak in the standard for Sweden but I worked closely with Norwegians and they had the same 8-16 (8-15 Friday) in Oslo as we did in in Denmark(KBH).
Well, the standard recommended work hours would be 08-17 (8 AM to 5 PM), with one hour unpaid lunch, so 8 hours paid. And you can take those paid breaks, or even combine them with lunch. Most places (that don’t have shifts, scheduled appointments or aren’t school or health care related) allow for this kind of flexibility.
My current work place has 39 hours a week during the half year during or close to winter and around 37 hours during the summer or the months adjoining summer. Then again, most people tend to flex actual hours worked, e.g. working 4 hours on Monday and Friday, and working more hours during the same week or compensating for it later. But you HAVE to take at least 30 minutes of lunch, and the workplace tries to enforce the paid breaks as well. So some, like me, take an hour off for lunch, but use our half hour unpaid lunch and add on breaks 2x15 with pay (which is billed to our clients, as we’re legally entitled to). So I can show up anywhere between 06:30 and 11:00 (as long as I don’t have deadlines or meetings) and decide how I want to dispose the hours of my time on schedule.
And I get 7 weeks off, paid, every year. And pad it out with overtime so that I work maybe a week of overtime and get two weeks extra off for holidays.

You aren’t paid by the hour as long as it suits the company. As soon as it suits you, you’re damn well going to sit there until 5pm staring at the ceiling if you have to, THEN you can go home.
That depends on your manager. Ive had some that let me work whenever, one that wanted butt in seat, and right now, I play video games so long as Im reachable.
If you’re in the US, Federal labor laws explicitly allow “meal periods” to not be paid, though short breaks must be paid. Neither is required to be offered to employees, though.
State laws differ, of course, and many states - e.g., California - have much more employee-friendly laws. However, even in CA, a meal period must be offered but isn’t required to be paid (unless it’s an on-duty meal break).
Before my current job, any job I’ve had had an 8.5 hour shift with a half an hour unpaid lunch. But I managed to score a gig where I have an 8.0 hour shift with a half an hour paid lunch. It seems uncommon in the US, but I guess it must be common elsewhere.
It’s because they reckon on 8-hour days but then under UK law they have to give you two 15-minute breaks and one 30-minute lunch. So they decide that they don’t like that so you’ve got to work the hours back so they add an extra hour on and then claim that your break times don’t count.
But the problem with that is the only reason that I’m having a break in the town rather than at my house is because of all the other hours I’m doing around it. So really they should be paying for it. Capitalism is going to capitalism.

If I try to unzip the “full set” zip, it produces a folder called РсЙ╠ГЖГtТPУ╞Й╣ГtГЛГZГbГgБi111025Бj. But unar detects the encoding and properly extracts it as 雪歌ユフ単独音フルセット（111025). I’m sure there’s some flag you can pass to unzip to specify the encoding, but I like having unar handle it for me automatically.
I know inabakumori! Their music is so cool! When I first listened to rainy boots and lagtrain, it made me feel emotions I thought I had forgotten a long time ago… I wish my japanese was good enough to understand the lyrics without looking them up ._. I’m also a huge fan of Kikuo. His music is just something completely unique, not to mention his insane tuning. He makes Miku sing in ways I didn’t think were possible lol
I get you, I want to learn more Japanese. I only understand a very small amount at this point. I don’t have any Miku songs that I have really wanted to listen to, but that could change. I might check out Kikuo then. Also I love the animations Inabakumori release with their songs too. They have some new stuff that’s really good if you haven’t checked it out yet.
It’s gotta be exhausting to work in a workspace, warehouse, or factory, not knowing which it will be day to day! At least they arrive knowing the random workplace is ventilated!
