think of the bird’s claw as a small torque wrench … similarly, when we unscrew the cap of a jar, we notice that our hands have a limited torque capacity.
Your OS being the cause of massive problems running common programs should not be something you have to have the skills to fix in the first place. And distro issue? How the hell are you even supposed to pick a distro when if you ask 10 linux users what distro you should use you’ll get 11 different answers? Sure, you could just try them all, but it takes a long time to evaluate an OS, plus just making sure that all the programs you want to run don’t just shit themselves.
Programs not designed for Linux somehow manage to run on a completely different operating system through something I can only explain as fucking technological black magic, and you’re wondering that it doesn’t work quite like it’s native environment? The fact that this is even possible is incredible
Go make the game devs release a proper Linux version and we won’t have those issues anymore
You’re right, but that’s not the point. The other poster said it’s a skill issue. Sure, if the person can’t run commands in a terminal or doesn’t know what’s an executable that’s a skill issue.
Getting stuck because the game is having weird glitches that show off once in a while and you need classes on computer graphics to debug isn’t skill issues imo. Otherwise are all gonna establish that Linux isn’t for non programmers then?
Add an additional step into your word-lookup routine: practice it a little bit. Repeat it several times, preferably out loud and with proper pronunciation, consider the definitions a little bit, and compose an original sentence or two that incorporates the word. Personally I sometimes look up the etymology as well, that stuff just interests me in general though.
This will take a few extra minutes, but will seat the new vocab word in your memory better. It can still sometimes take two or three individual encounters to finally have the word fully remembered, but eventually it does just permanently enter your vocabulary.
You’re basically trying to force it from your short-term memory into your long-term memory just like you would with basic schoolwork, using similar techniques.
I love the info it provides. I agree with many here that it’s too long. I think putting everything behind a spoiler tag that simply shows the rating would be a step in the right direction.
If you want to avoid squishing your junk, I recommend buying some elasticated boxers that are just a LITTLE bit tighter than you would buy for every day wear. Keep your business pulled in close and tight.
As for avoiding workouts… theres a lot to unpack there. The short version is “You have the DNA you have” no amount of a “Bikini body” workout is going to give you tits or a BBL booty and any workout that mentions “Targeted fat loss” is bullshit. Situps do not burn belly fat. Workouts for bodybuilding and workouts for functional strength are different. Workouts for cardio and workouts for conditioning are different.
But what might build a bunch of muscle and functional strength for a 60kg woman might only qualify as a warmup for me, programs written for women will likely be different because (THIS IS NOT SEXISM) men on average carry more muscle as a percentage and less fat. Workouts programmed for women tend to have more cardio and lower weight. Not to say that you couldnt do that workout and hit it with intensity and get results, but its likely to be suboptimal.
If you’re interested in learning more about exercise science Dr Mike Isratel of Renaissance Periodization on YT has some fantastic and easy to digest videos (not exactly geared for beginners but theres some very quality insights if you find the right videos.) As well as James Smith, Dr Pak, Jeff Nippard and their associated friends.
I think the term you’re looking for is called Sexual Dimorphism, and I have only ever heard edge-lord-feminists call it sexism. Most feminists that I have met acknowledge it.
Edit: to be clear while the conversation of gender equity is in part concerned about sexual dimorphism, the human species as a whole is sexually polymorphic. However the discussion of Turner’s syndrome, Klinefelter’s syndrome, ect is tangentially related.
What’s funny is the Mike Matthews books, they are pretty much identical advice but the one for women is called:
Thinner, Stronger, Leaner
And the men’s - Bigger Stronger Leaner
I cannot lift as heavy as my husband no way no how. But the mechanics of how we work out are not that different, only the weight.
And the body fat comment is very true - if I am carrying 20% bodyfat I look lean as fuck, and 30% just looks normal but husband at 20% bodyfat looks padded. I don’t understand how that works but it’s absolutely true and he still (we are in our 50s) gets stronger faster, both in an absolute and a proportional sense, than I can. Not just muscle mass, also power. I have to do more to keep strength, he has to do more to fight getting fat.
The LW mods are relying on a website to verify news, but it barely works outside of U.S. coverage, making it useless for global news (it’s like they think the U.S. is the whole world). They ask for feedback, but let’s be real—they’re too stubborn to accept any criticism
Dual sim. Call recording. Stereo speakers. Loud enough. Oled screen. (slight tint.) Headphone jack 5Ah battery Super light phone. 5G. 12 gigs ram. FM radio with some reception sans cable. Soft rear cover.
Biggest downside is the camera as there’s no optical zoom / telephoto lens. Also if you take a photo in low light and leave the camera app straight after taking it, it’s gone.
I heard that the bird actually tracked him down and murder him shortly after. They found the camera’s SD card is the only thing still intact at the scene.
Lemmios - Link opens in app. Everything looks and works great EXCEPT Spoilers.
Mlem - Link opens in browser, not app. Manually went to test post. As with Lemmios, everything looks and works great EXCEPT spoilers.
Remmel - Instant fail. No development in 2 years, unable to even add an instance or an account. Non-starter.
Thunder - Hard to test. Lots of lag for some reason. Link opens in browser, not app. Manually went to test post. That being said, EVERYTHING worked. The lag may have been because I had just linked my account. Testing everything above, then coming back to Thunder, I found it fast and responsive.
Voyager - Link opens in app. EVERYTHING worked. No notes.
So, ranking them:
Voyager - EVERYTHING worked. No notes.
Thunder - Everything worked, but laggy to start with when using a year old account with lots of data. Once it caught up, everything was fine. Would probably be great with a new account.
Lemmios - Link opens in app by default. Spoilers don’t work.
Mlem - Link opens in browser by default but is user configurable. Spoilers don’t work.
Arctic - A few minor failures.
Avelon - A few more failures than Arctic.
Bean - Hey, it works better than Remmel. Probably abandoned.
