Enlisting in the military.

I was an insufferable piece of shit back in the day, constantly self sabotaging and blaming everyone else for the problems I caused. I was on the verge of homelessness due to my own stubbornness and bad attitude.

The military gave me the swift kick in the ass that I desperately needed. Now I can self reflect and recognize when the problem is me, and I can admit when I’m wrong and course correct.

Military isn’t for everyone, but for me it was exactly what I needed. I learned a ton of life skills and healthy coping mechanisms that my parents never taught me.

cashmaggot OP ,

I've met some wonderful former military as of late. They're some of the kindness, easy going folk. They just believe in teamwork, and they're absolutely zero-fuss. I really dig people who benefit from the whole exprience. I just wish it was the common take-away. But really, grounded military are amazing.

anamethatisnt , to android in I just got a device with an audio jack (Moto G84), very satisfying.

AUX, MicroSD, smaller format and big battery was the reason I went for my Sony Xperia 10 IV (budget phone, got mine new for 260€) device.
Sadly their software updates are only for two years as otherwise I would’ve been interested in the Sony Xperia 5 series (compact flagship). I’m not paying flagship prices for a phone that stops updating after two years.

I hope that the EU regulation forcing 5 years of updates for phones and tablets starting June 2025 will allow me a compact flagship phone with aux, big battery and updates for a long time.

I just wish there was a PC compatible like standard for smartphones (and ARM in general). If smartphones were like PCs where a third party can relatively easily maintain 10+ years support, worrying about whether a manufacturer cares to update becomes irrelevant.

anamethatisnt ,

Historically I’ve gone for Lenovo laptops, at least for their business segments they’ve been good with releasing updates to fix security issues for many years. Having a promise of 5 years of firmware updates would be lovely though.

Blaze OP ,

Sony Xperia 10 IV (budget phone, got mine new for 260€) device.

Xperia were really on my list, but not very popular in the second hand market where I live. Hopefully one day I’ll get one, they seem to be nice devices.

So is it time for a new news community then if the admins don’t want to listen?

Rooki OP ,
@Rooki@lemmy.world avatar

You can even be better than that! You can make a community that fact check news article / news pages. Then we can add the threads from that community to the bot and have there news page specific discussion.

Behind the Bastards, Linux Lads, Linux Late Night, The Infinite Monkey Cage (when they do episodes), some spanish stuff for listening practice (mostly Hoy Hablamos), Hack-a-Day, Self-Hosted, and Cory Doctorow…

tamal3 ,

Have you found Spanish Obsessed? It’s a Colombian/English couple who just have conversations in Spanish about random topics at an intermediate level.

They have several podcasts, so make sure to find the intermediate level for the conversations. Their beginner level has much more spoken English and basic Spanish vocab, which I’m not as into.

Trent ,

No, but I’ll check them out. Thanks for the suggestion.

Yes, I used the Markdown Format Guide linked above. For user and community links I used this comment, and for inline images I checked the FOSS icon here.

Arctic, Avelon, Bean, Lemmios, Mlem, Remmel, Thunder, Voyager.

Does she gain more nerve endings from stretching her clit or once it hits football size does it feel no different than a finger?

areyouevenreal ,

Anatomically the external part of the clit is the same structure as the dick in a male. So I am guessing that making it penis sized would result in the same sensitivity as a regular male penis.

It’s illegal to post photos of the Eiffel Tower at night. (No one cares.)

Track_Shovel OP ,

Really?

ArmokGoB ,

The lighting is copyrighted, so it’s technically copyright infringement. They only seem to care if you do it in a professional/commercial capacity though.

the_crotch ,

I’ll start obeying French law when they extradite Roman Polanski

AnUnusualRelic ,
@AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world avatar

Track_Shovel OP ,

I’m sorry, fucking what?

How can lighting, or the sight of something be copyright?

Fuck what wonderful captialistic hellscape we live in

ArmokGoB ,

Architecture is an artistic medium, so it’s subject to copyright. It gets a little complicated though, because this wasn’t legally decided until the latter half of the 20th century.

Johanno ,

While architecture could be copyrighted. Public buildings are excluded from that for obvious reasons. This includes the eifel tower.

ArmokGoB ,
Gork ,

Does the architect hold the copyright of a photograph that a photographer has taken though?

I can see it getting murky quickly. What if the building is in frame, but is not the focus of the photograph. Can the architect still claim copyright infringement on that particular photo?

Capricorn_Geriatric ,

The Eiffel Tower in the meme is as illegal as the Rattaouile frame since if the photo is from a broadcast the royalties have already been dealt with.
