Some people evidently do not hear a voice in their head. It generally blows the minds of people who do, but minds are so varied its possible we’re misunderstanding each other when discussing voices in head. Similar to the question if two people see red, but only know it’s red because someone taught them, can we be absolutely sure we both experience the exact same “red”?

If your mental white balance is off, everything would vary in the same amount, but if you could b9th project the image you see somehow into another mind it would look different.

I got beat regularly, and my stepfather at the time used to do stuff like make me wait in the basement for 30 mins, then he’d slowly walk down the stairs with his belt unbuckled so we could hear the jingling in each step, then he’d tell us some scriptures and say this hurt him more than us.

Then if you cried right away it was faking, but if you held on too long it was you being rebellious and stubborn, so my brother and I learned to start faking our cries after the 6th or 7th hit.

I told that to friends as an adult as what I thought was a kinda funny story, and they properly realized I was abused in a somewhat sadistic way and pointed it out to me.

They weren’t calling me out for having a different environment, they were correcting my incorrect belief that it was normal or acceptable.

People are doing the same for you. You made it out safely, but giving unstable teens access to guns is definitely a risk that probably shouldn’t be taken. Survivor bias isn’t an excuse to say it’s fine.

A bit confused, are you reacting to sadistic? That word doesn’t mean evil, it means enjoying giving pain to others. There are murders that aren’t as sadistic, as they could try to poison someone in sleep etc, giving no pain.

The wording is suggesting they very much enjoyed the process of committing the murder, making it more painful on purpose.

I got hit in the eye (long story short, my cousin learned to throw cards like Gambit and nailed me straight in the eye).

While I didn’t downvote nor did it bother me much, making jokes on topics that enrage or trigger people is bound to have at least some negative reaction. This is about a woman arrested and almost sent to prison because something that has a percentage of always occurring happened to her, and terrible people want to punish her. It’s scary.

Ahmad Arbery case scared me because I’m black, live in GA (literally lived in White GA at the time, down the street from a lumbermill with Confederate and MAGA flags), and do like exploring, especially if walking. I had seen people with Confederate flags on trucks giving me what appeared to be hard looks (but who knows, maybe just resting bitchface).

I know some people use humor around hard topics to cope, but it can easily feel like our quite concrete fears are being joked away dismissively.

I’ve used it for pulled chicken for a soup. I believe the instructions said boil, but I pressure cook/steam it for a few mins then add it into the muchbmore flavorful soup. Though I just as often just use canned chicken breast instead.

Only thing I’ve ever done that for, since I love chicken to have a browned somewhat firm to crunchy crust, depending on which cut it is.

Someone is into OP or whoever is in gold, at least for now. Even if you don’t find it cool, flatter to keep conversation and interest. It could be genuine as in finding interest in anything your crush is into interesting, or be just practical.

Also, people are attractive/interesting when they speak about stuff they’re passionate about. Lots of people will listen to you blab on about something they know nothing about or care nothing about if you interest them in your delivery.

I work in IT and don’t want to have to use annoying long passwords, so I’ve been team mfa for at least a decade now. I had physical code devices for SWOTR and FFXIV until I got a software one for the latter. I don’t play the former much but I still have a working physical key somewhere.

I wouldn’t hit you for a slur. I will write you off as a asshole. As for the South Park thing, the reveal is specifically calling put what you said about it sounding the same. Let’s preface this by saying I don’t watch much South Park, really just small clips like these to get context.

Additional context is understanding South Park likes to bring up social issues in offensive ways, which some find funny and others find distasteful. I’m pretty sure when it started it was just a joke, though one to make fun of shows with one black character. The retcon to me just feels like an evolution of the joke as humor, sensitivities, and acknowledgement of these issues grew. Plus hopefully the writers matured (as mentioned, I really only see popular clips so not sure).

To me, the way the Tolkien thing played out felt like it was similar to ManBearPig. The latter is technically a self own; they mocked climate change in the past and are now saying it’s true and they were wrong.

Is the apology genuine? I couldn’t say, I don’t know them. I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt though.

Now it might just be my bias, but I feel O’Brien was taunting trolling, while the hard-right guy was posturing. Of the two, I expect the hard-right guy to be more of the unstable child in the situation, but also agree probably not willing to actually fight. With O’Brien or however it’s spelled, I feel like getting that reaction was his win… but again probably a lot of personal bias.
