People speak weird all the time, and LLMs are trained on people. Some aren’t native speakers, some just like to omit verbs, nouns, or tenses when it seems obvious and they want to be expedient, some just do it for fun or laziness (see, l33t speak and or early texting, typos).

LLMs are trained on human input, so of course it on occasion uses our bad habits. Thinking like your comment suggests is what gets people who really wrote their own stuff in trouble, because people think they can identify stuff like this more than they actually can.

He said, still not being nice. Nah man, I think it’s you.

chatokun ,

Big “I keep meeting assholes” energy.

chatokun ,

So. Guess what I’m allergic to…

My issue with “You will eat bugs” isn’t eww, it’s “Guess I’ll die.”

chatokun ,

Oh, I know that. I do t have any real complaint about the movement, was more mocking people like Alex Jones getting bent out of shape over ir. However, it’s so suggested as protein replacement in futurology, and for a greener future. I’m all for that (and despite not being vegan, I support veggie protein/synthetic meat options too) but I’m just worried about diminished options for myself. I wouldn’t put my wants over others needs though, so if it comes down to it having a smaller dietary choices is what I’ll have to do, and I’ve done it before (eggs were a favorite of mine but I developed an allergy to them about a year or two ago.)

chatokun ,

They have those too. Gyaru and manba gyaru, to name a few.

chatokun ,

Reminder that he was on Infowars on 9/11. He actually pushed back on some of Alex Jones crazier statements that day, but not quite enough, and he’s lost that subtle praise since then.

My phone runs fine. I use some apps, and many others I use websites. My ebooks, music, podcasts, and video stuff uses apps, as well as some games, my banking app, and this lemmy app. I don’t use apps for just about every other social media (mostly because I barely use em), for many websites etc. Email I do use the apps, as well as my robovac, and some other communication based ones. Also MFA apps.

Use of apps can be decided on a per use basis, as long as the person knows the possible issues stemming from them. It doesn’t need to be all or nothing, and your solution doesn’t necessarily work for everyone. It doesn’t make you better than them, nor them better than you, just different. Stop assuming everyone should do things like you do.

Gameplay mechanics were also a lot better with more replayability. (lemmy.world)

Ignoring the lack of updates if the game is buggy, games back then were also more focused on quality and make gamers replay the game with unlockable features based on skills, not money. I can’t count the number of times I played Metal Gear Solid games over and over to unlock new features playing the hardest difficulty and with...

chatokun ,

I mean, I do still play these games. I also play new games, so I don’t agree with the comic. Still, Chrono Trigger, FFT WoL, Secret of Mana, Parasite Eve, Xenogears, and some others are still on my PS Vita and I’ve been replaying them. I need to find Megaman X as well, as I loved that game.

chatokun ,

… I’m an idiot. I bought it on switch already. Time for a replay!

chatokun ,

I think the idea is that he’s the opposite of his username. I don’t agree with the execution though, wouldn’t positivity as an opposite be more general negativity rather than outright hatred and odious behavior?

chatokun ,

Legos and SNES games for me. Probably more the Legos. I used to look through the catalogs longly, wishing I could afford the bigger city, jungle, and pirate sets.

Nowadays I still look longingly, but at more sets and a little less at the city sets.

chatokun ,

Yeah, I love the adult ones too, and aside from my personal experience I’ve heard a lot of people discuss the calming feeling it gives. For people with ADHD alot of us find it calming, relaxing, and something we can focus on unlike other ventures. Gives lots of hits of dopamine for each section you do etc.

chatokun ,

Well, they also execute anyone not noble who inherits magic.

chatokun ,

Well, lots of someone’s painting watch faces with it.

Even IT work I could just say I make and fix tools. They’re different tools, but my job is simply to make sure tools work for people who do other work, or making better tools for them to do their work.

chatokun ,

True, you’d have to explain that it’s a very vague explanation, and maybe explain its a niche tool for a very specific labor force. I doubt most people have heard or care to hear a detailed explanation of NED Graphics Design and Repeat, nor its use of HASP keys, but I think saying it’s a specific tool for making patterns on clothes and I help make sure the tool works is sufficient. You or the person from a previous time may ask for more details, but especially in older times you could just say I can’t tell you more because my employers don’t want people to copy tools.

Hiding the exact details of your trade was so common back then it caused problems for apprentices, as they were often expected to learn from watching or laboring a long time rather than directly taught.

Warner Bros. is now erasing games as it plans to delist Adult Swim-published titles (www.polygon.com)

Warner Bros. Discovery is telling developers it plans to start “retiring” games published by its Adult Swim Games label, game makers who worked with the publisher tell Polygon. At least three games are under threat of being removed from Steam and other digital stores, with the fate of other games published by Adult Swim...

chatokun ,

It exists, but isn’t 1 year. Closer to 20 I think? There are also deals that require constant usage, like Sony’s hold on spiderman. Quick search says 5 years 9 months for them to hold on to it.

Back to copyright, there was a game Wizards of the Coast acquired from Gygax’s company that a neonazi and one of Gygax’s sons tried to use claiming WoTC abandoned it. It was blatantly racist so one of the few times people were rooting for WoTC to win. WoTC hadn’t made a new game, but claimed they were still selling manuals digitally.

Edit might be trademark rather than copyright.

chatokun ,

America too, if you look at the guy who ran boy bands like NSync.

chatokun ,

I’d say some of us weebs work etc, but all the ones I know who do simply like Anime and arent obsessed with getting an Asian waifu or husbando. In fact, most I associate with are in long stable relationships already, and I’ve seen no evidence the others have such a preference.

My family and I do want to visit Japan, and one of my sisters lived there. Another of my sisters lived in Korea, and she found dating hard there because none of the men wanted a serious relationship, they just thought a black American girl would be kinky. They’d tell her they still want to marry another Korean, because no one would want to have mixed babies. Iirc she told me they specifically used [nword]babies.

So personally I especially wouldn’t see myself living in such a racism country easily.

chatokun ,

Your name is Bani-chan but you don’t know what was probably rated as the top rated Anime for the longest time of the last 2 decades? (Well, at least in English speaking circles).

chatokun ,

Yeah we do. Same with that police office yelling “I’m hit!” Over the acorn. I still see people who don’t have the context, and not everyone is as online as you or I. Pieces of shit don’t deserve to not be known as such, and not everyone gets the memo the first time.

No, electric vehicle sales aren’t dropping. Here’s what’s really going on (www.cnn.com)

No, electric vehicle sales aren’t dropping. Here’s what’s really going on::Tesla has been slashing prices. Ford just cut the price of its Mustang Mach-E, too, plus it cut back production of its electric pickup. And General Motors is thinking about bringing back plug-in hybrids, arguably a step back from EVs.

chatokun ,

I have a terrible EV. Claims it has 80 miles of range but is really around 50 miles. A drive to work brings it down to 20%. The fast charge port is CHAdeMO, which at least around here is barely used, and even the electrify America places usually only have 1.

I still don’t want to switch back, I just want a better one with a more common port. I work from home except for the occasional mandatory in office stuff (one coming this Thurs and probably another next month). Most of the stuff I want to drive to is within a battery’s distance to go to and from. About the only thing that really sucks is vacations to visit family.

chatokun ,

My sister lived in S Korea a few years ago, and keeps up on some stuff. She mentioned the feminist 4B movement. Quoting an article:

4B is shorthand for four Korean words that all start with bi-, or “no”: The first no, bihon, is the refusal of heterosexual marriage. Bichulsan is the refusal of childbirth, biyeonae is saying no to dating, and bisekseu is the rejection of heterosexual sexual relationships. It is both an ideological stance and a lifestyle, and many women I spoke to extend their boycott to nearly all the men in their lives, including distancing themselves from male friends.

So some of this might be the movement, which is against the patriarchal society Asian countries are famous for (and part of why so many weeb incels want Asian “submissive” wives). Has my respect too. Iirc some men have been violently attacking women over it, bur I can’t find a link in the limited time I have atm.

Timor more often than Hips don’t lie.

chatokun ,

There is a legal concern about that so some IVF places are halting transporting across state lines while their lawyers review. People are making “trafficking” jokes already.

chatokun ,

Are you still growing (teenager) or are very active or both? Calorie needs vary based on stuff like that, so if you’re discussing with people above 25 who are only mildly active they wouldn’t be able to burn away those calories as easily. Our base metabolic rate slows down too.

chatokun ,

Oh they know. Discipline doesn’t mean punishment for wrong deeds, it means forceful changes in any behavior, concepts, or ideas that the one executing the discipline dislikes. Disrespecting your “betters” is always a part of this too. I got pulled over once because I passed a police office. He was going under the speed limit so u went the speed limit and passed him. His reason was not showing due respect.

chatokun ,

I have two sets of indoor slippers, so don’t really wear shoes inside per say… though one of the slippers does close around feet somewhat like a shoe.

chatokun ,

As someone mentioned, I’ve only seen em at Aldi. Some dollar stores keep the carts inside with a pole ro prevent them exiting the store. I’ve mostly lived up and down the east coast (plus some young years in St Vincent and the Grenadines), plus visited a few big cities like Chicago, LA, Vegas. Aside from Aldi, I haven’t seen locked up shopping carts, even at places that have basically a second locked down section of the store for life necessary items like diapers, detergent, etc.

I’m only posting this to answer the question though, as the only thing I care about locked down carts is that I almost never carry quarters (mostly pay card, not cash, and for tolls I have a Peachpass).

chatokun ,

The “Genocide Convention” defined it as “A crime committed with the intent to destroy a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group, in whole or in part.” This excludes political groups.

So yes, many things more than simply killing counts as genocides. What slave owners in the US did to separate families and squash the previous culture of said slaves counts. Canada’s resident schools that tried to make indigenous people more like “normal” Canadians counts. Re-education camps count. What Israel is doing to Palestine counts, and the treatment of the Uyghur people also counts, among numerous other examples I didn’t mention, including very obvious ones.

chatokun ,

Apologies, I was a bit tired yesterday and missed that.

chatokun ,

Slight problem with the meme vs what OP is doing: Someone evaluating choices isn’t going to know what to search for from logos. They’ll n only recognize Google, Apple, and Windows, with a slight possibility on Linux distros.

chatokun ,

Elder Millennial here, I hate the whole mocking of generations and hoped ours wouldn’t do it as much, but I’m still seeing people of my generation doing so. We did stuff others might call dumb too, or just stuff for the hell of it.

chatokun ,

This is not going to be helpful, but I started weight loss that resulted in about 35 pounds lost simply by going to a con and waiting for people to meet up to eat. Ended up with me not eating until like 8pm each day, so close to 24 hour fasts for 4 days in a row.

Once I was kinda used to it, I did shorter ones and started roughly calorie counting as well.

chatokun ,

Wait, I missed the space exploration part. Why is that partisan now?

'Better than a real man': young Chinese women turn to AI boyfriends (techxplore.com)

‘Better than a real man’: young Chinese women turn to AI boyfriends::Twenty-five-year-old Chinese office worker Tufei says her boyfriend has everything she could ask for in a romantic partner: he’s kind, empathetic, and sometimes they talk for hours.

chatokun ,

Yes I am real man want to go skateboards?

chatokun ,

Nape of the neck being sexualized due to Japanese kimonos. We need to ban these abhorrent neck revealing robes and wrap up women’s entire neck.

Up next, we have to stop all this Niqab and burka porn!

chatokun ,

We’re still getting blamed often. I haven’t in a month or two, but normally I listen to a podcast called Knowledge Fight which critically analyzes Alex Jones and a few similar grifters in a taking them in full context way(generally outlets miss the truly heinous stuff Jones says for quick soundbites, and he uses it as a defense to his audience).

Now you may think ol AJ isn’t relevant, but you still see right wing talking points come either early on his show or he repeats them quickly. He keeps basically a “rogues gallery” of people to blame for whatever, and BLM, Jessie Smollet, Obama aren’t always on the list, but at least one of them shows back up monthly, along with Antifa, Soros, Klaus Schwab, communism, Bill Gates, vaccines, trans people, gay people, China, etc

It’s not that they stopped blaming black people (and never stopped blaming queer people), it’s that they have so many buzz words to swap us out on rotation. They haven’t forgotten though. They still hate us.

chatokun ,

Some programs just didn’t work on NT though. A lot of installers were more OS specific back then.

chatokun ,

8h later, I’m still seeing it too. Looks like the delete may not have either taken or may not have synced.
