I mean, I do care. We share a world, so some interest in other countries is healthy. Now I’m not super invested or anything, but I still care to some extent, on at least basic levels.

Behind the Bastards has an episode about Jim Caviezel, and in it they discussed several anonymous and one non anonymous retelling of working with the man. If the allegations are to be believed, he kept being worse and worse not understanding his characters motivations, and they had to adjust some stuff to stop him ruining the show. They mention him doing stuff like actually harming other actors/stunt doubles if he was doing action scenes, a desire to just kill and shoot up enemies, and being really bad later on about following the script.

There’s a Last Week Tonight on it. He basically wasn’t actually popular and 9/11 saved his image. Rudy was also was in the tough on crime crowd and allowed Stop and Frisk, which of course turned very racist. The episode has a number of other issues he had before 9/11 also.

Edit: as for making it better, I don’t have a ton of details, but crime was already trending down before his tenure, while his tenure as mentioned got pretty bad for people of color. So it might depend on who you ask.

Actually, you’re wrong on that “Nobody even suggested that COVID is similar” remark. Nobody credible, or Nobody who knows what they’re talking about and not lying, then sure, you’re probably right. However antivaxers and disingenuous scientists absolutely have been doing that since covid was discovered.

Knowledge Fight is a podcast that critically analyzes Alex Jones and a few other grifters, and during 2020 and beyond they had so many lies and fake studies. One of Jones’s big talking points was that COVID was a manufactured virus with HIV inserts, which originally came from a discredited, retracted, and non-peer reviewed study out of India that suggested such a thing. Despite the retraction, bad actors don’t care. They got a “study” and headline to confirm their beliefs, so they just act like retraction never happened and just lie lie lie. Echo chambers allows this to run unchecked, and then you have people believing they’re equal.

I had this problem at an Indian place near me (though I am of carrib descent, not white). I wanted to go light just in case, so I asked for 6 or 7 out of 10. I couldn’t taste any spice. I make hotter stuff at home daily. It was frankly an insult.

I’m not defending PornHub hear, but sometimes you don’t want to leave associatable stuff up simply because you font know if they might do something stupid and harm their brand. Like if it turned out heavy sexual harassment/assault was happening at PrawnHub and it gets found out; now people might associate that with PornHub, especially with the sexual aspect.
