I’m just a weird, furry, pan guy (cis he/him). I also have a big, blue username.

If I was a character in Danganronpa, my talent would be The Ultimate Loser and I’d be the first character killed in the murder game.

Kangaroos are just anthropomorphic camels. They all look like the mascot for the cigarettes, which they also look like they probably smoke.

I have about that in ARMA 3.

I am pretty good… So long as I am alone in the map. I’m insane in the little bird… But if there are any actual enemies in the map, I’m dead before I even hear the missile alert beeping 😩

It’s actually not so bad when it’s online and the enemies are other humans. The AI is just a cheating bastard and they have Terminator aim, vision and endurance.

I think there’s a big difference from “playing jewface” and simply using a minor bit of prosthetics and makeup to make an actor who already sorta resembles the real person they are portraying to look even more like that person. Are there any Jewish actors that look like Bernstein more than Cooper?

Kolanaki ,
@Kolanaki@yiffit.net avatar

Is it just a black dude without any makeup, pretending to be a white dude with blackface makeup? Cuz that sounds like it could have been a great Chappelle show skit.

Or would it be like White Chicks?

Yeah. Some dingus put the book I was wanting back the shelf after it was marked reserved by another person, so I couldn’t take it that day.

It feels the same to me, but with less jackasses. So it’s better.

What funding?

Uh… Didn’t WOTC commission and pay for the game? I read that they went to Larian, not the other way around.

BG3 has still been riddled with bugs for me and since it doesn’t have MTX or a store or anything, it feels kinda worse. At least I know why the crap riddled with MTX is rife with issues; what is BG3’s excuse?

I probably wouldn’t mind the bugs so much if the whole game was shit. But the game is fucking awesome. I just want to play it without being frustrated by technical issues. 😩

I’m hoping that by the time the PS5 version launches, it’ll be much smoother.

I feel you on the deepthroating shit. It’s a great game, no doubt about it. But some of these articles act like it’s the second coming of Christ, and if I am to be entirely honest… It’s not quite as good as the original games. It’s lacking a lot of depth in the story telling (it’s almost entirely voiced so there’s more brevity in any given conversation than the pages upon pages of text even a random nobody can give you in BG2), but makes up for it with mechanical depth.

I agree it’s a big deal for a major release to not have MTX or a season pass or other bullshit, and that should definitely be applauded. But some of the things I’ve seen said about the game are out right fraudulent. Like an article the other day saying it is the most polished AAA game in over a decade, which is absurd. The game is plagued with issues and the polish is literally the one thing I can not give it praises for. It even feels amateur in a lot of ways. Like it has many little issues I would not expect from a seasoned developer, and many bugs ranging from minor inconveniences to full blown game breaking stuff like scripts firing wrong leading to an outcome you didn’t choose to take or characters becoming comoletely broken being unable to move or be interacted with.

Story is great. It actually feels like a remix of the first Baldur’s Gate story. Characters are some of the best I’ve seen in a long time. The combat is super fun, especially when you try to do weird random shit just to see if it works; cuz 90% of the time it does. There is a depth to the changes you can have on the world at large that are extremely cool and haven’t been done on such a scale before in all the RPGs I’ve played over the years…

Although that last part is where the previous talk about bugs really starts to drag the experience down. There have been so many points in my two playthroughs of the game where I took one path, but got the dialogue and changes to the world of another path. Like currently, my party keeps talking about one of the companions killing another. But they didn’t; I stopped that from happening. So now this character is standing around in the background while other characters talk about her death. And that’s not even the worst one I’ve encountered.

Kolanaki ,
@Kolanaki@yiffit.net avatar

It’s almost perfect… But whenever I get into a new game, especially something kinda niche, I can’t find a place to talk about it. I miss that.

Not quite as fantastical as aliens, but miners with jetpacks sounds sci-fi as fuck.

I usually go with Steam because it has all the other tertiary features that may or may not be there for GOG titles. I usually only use GOG if it’s the only way to get a good old game or if that’s the only version that will possibly work on a modern PC. I do not even consider them for brand new games, unless I want to pirate them to demo before buying.

In your case, you just so happened to choose right. Dark Corners of the Earth on Steam has hella issues and the game may not even run. But the GOG version is just fine. I also bought that a while back after watching a review of it and getting nostalgic (since I played it on Xbox back when it was new), and thankfully he had mentioned this or I might have been screwed.

There is still overlap in the societal aspects, just not the governmental aspects. Mostly because anarchy has no government. That’s the point. People can still choose to work together and basically create a communist society, without any enforcement from a government. Unlikely, but it’s not impossible.

I find it funny as hell that when I search for “where can I stream X?” Most of the time, I can only watch the thing on a pirate streaming site, unless I want to pay $15.99 for a single viewing on Amazon. lol fuck that.

I read some research paper not too long ago that showed how a majority of managers promoted from within are bad at their jobs because they got all their experience in other jobs along the way to management that are not even remotely similar to the tasks required for management, thus they don’t actually develop skills that make for good managers.

Like just because you flipped burgers really good at McDonald’s doesn’t mean you would be good at managing other burger flippers.

Kolanaki ,
@Kolanaki@yiffit.net avatar

Oh for sure. The last decade, most of the jobs I’ve had tell me they want to eventually make me a manager; but then they never actually train me how to manage so I never take the position.

The original Fable. I wasn’t yet aware of Moleyneux’s reputation as a liar and bought into all the neat shit that was supposed to be in the game. Like at one point he said you could cut a tree and then adventure for years in game and the scar would still be there. Outrageous to think now, but he also said there would be a dragon fight and even back then this wasn’t difficult to make happen, yet it didn’t even have a dragon.

Also Oblivion. I had found Morrowind and fell in love, went back and got Arena and Daggerfall and loved those, too. They talked about all kinds of things it would have and showed graphics that looked top tier in magazines during development. It came out and didn’t look as good, was majorly dumbed down compared to Morrowind, and had even more technical issues. It was disappointing, but it still turned out to be a fun game regardless.

But it takes 69 years to make one! (lemmy.world)

In stark contrast to Europe, which enjoyed an abundance of high-quality iron, Japan’s geographical limitations meant that the availability of good iron ore was scarce. Japanese bladesmiths had to work with whatever they could find, which was often of inferior quality. Despite these challenges, the Japanese developed a process...

Kolanaki ,
@Kolanaki@yiffit.net avatar

Imagine using the techniques they came up with but with actually good ore.

Don’t they also have some special technique for folding the metal? 🤔

I don’t mind a reasonable person who disagrees and may see logic, or show me something I didn’t know.

I’m not tryna to engage with people who are batshit fucking insane, tho. It will always end in a stalemate where everyone comes out feeling dirty and possibly even losing a few IQ points in the end.

I can already see the nothing and clouds out the side window. You think the front is gonna be different? At least you can also look down below out of the side windows. You can’t really look at the ground from the cockpit. Well, I mean… You can, but it’s not very fun because you have to point the nose of the plane down.

The cool things done with the nudity include:

  • Karlach’s chest glowing from the Infernal Engine she uses as a heart

And that’s it. They’re not particularly good looking or anything. Other than Karlach, the nudity is quite generic and unsexy.

I feel like having full nudity is just a cheap gimmick that doesn’t add anything of value. The only mainstream game I’ve played that even uses nudity as a mechanic to do something special is Elden Ring and you’re not even totally nude in that game.

Do libraries also violate copyright laws? 🤔

The lawsuit said the recordings are all available on authorized streaming services and “face no danger of being lost, forgotten, or destroyed.”

Until, that is, they succeed in having the archives destroyed. Then they can continue making shit artificially scarce to drive up the cost/demand.

Buy tickets for their shows at the venue. Buy their merchandise directly from the band. Never go through a middle man. Deal with the musicians directly. They don’t really make shit off record sales; they make up the bulk of their money from touring and self-selling merch.

If the virus could mutate AIs, why couldn’t it mutate ICE and just fuck up the black wall, too? Thing was designed to break into Datafortresses. Those would have had the strongest ICE to exist before the Blackwall, and what a virus would need to cut past anyway.

Plenty of games are able to determine what you’re using without having such a screen. The “press any key to continue” screen has been a thing my entire life (born in 85), and it has never been necessary for anything other than simulating the “insert coin” screen for arcade games.

BG3 can use both at the same time, and yet it still has two of these screens. If you’re playing with a controller, it will say press any key then you press a button and it changes to “press A to continue” before you actually get to the main menu.

And it’s even dumber because you can see the game detects your controller before the first logo screen ends when the cursor is auto hidden.

Kolanaki ,
@Kolanaki@yiffit.net avatar

Personally, I think if I cant just use both at the same time it’s kind of shit. Only a handful of games actually work like that, and it’s insane. I shouldn’t have to go into the settings and switch control types. I should just be able to use them if they’re plugged in, like GTA or BG3.

Kolanaki ,
@Kolanaki@yiffit.net avatar

I don’t think Early Access should go away as it’s not inherently bad in and of itself.

What’s bad about it is when it’s used to sell a totally unfinished piece of shit that stays an unfinished piece of shit indefinitely.

Kolanaki ,
@Kolanaki@yiffit.net avatar

That’s just part of the mismanagement.

What worries me is that one of the leakers who was leaking shit about Redfall prior to release who was 100% correct about everything, also said he saw Starfield and it was in worse shape than Redfall was. It’s obviously coming out later, but not that much later.

Kolanaki ,
@Kolanaki@yiffit.net avatar

While true, the state of Redfall was far worse than the expectation for a mainline Bethesda RPG (comparatively), even as bad as they have been in the past. So saying Starfield was in worse shape still has some hefty weight to it, if the leak is true. It will have at least had more time in the oven for things to be fixed up a bit more in line with normal expectations. And that’s my hope.

Kolanaki ,
@Kolanaki@yiffit.net avatar

They would have to also start charging to save scum. Why would I pay $5 for a crit when I can just reload my save and try until I get one? Every new save is $0.50 and every reload is also $0.50.
