UoPeople doesn’t charge for online college courses, course materials, or annual enrollment. Pay our minimal fees as you go, never upfront.

What are these minimal fees, and what are they for? I’m always skeptical of these online learning providers that imply they are free but don’t quite say as much.

I think the writers are using that kind of language to show the personality of that character. He doesn’t want to admit (or can’t see/believe) his girlfriend left him because he was a bad partner, and so explains it by saying she became a lesbian. By doing this he absolves himself of any blame, fault, or responsibility for the relationship failing.

‘We were once paid $50 to quit’: new wave heroes Devo on boos, Bowie and retiring after 50 years (www.theguardian.com)

And while Devo may be saying farewell to touring, it’s not entirely the end. A new box set of rarities, Art Devo 1973-1977, is coming in September along with a documentary in production by Tiger King director Chris Smith. However, there’s no sloppy sentiment about retiring from performing from Mothersbaugh. “I’m looking...

They did see the criticism; in fact a lot of it was aimed directly at them. But they thought that they were right.

A spokesperson told Bloomberg that the fee will “help cover the costs of running a separate infrastructure and measuring its effectiveness.” So a significant part of the fee is to pay for measuring it? What’s that phrase about the bureaucracy expanding to meet the needs of the expanding bureaucracy again…?

This is why Sony was making such a big deal about Call of Duty during the discussions about Microsoft acquiring Activision (owners of the Call of Duty franchise). Sony wanted reassurance that the Call of Duty games would still come out on the PlayStation consoles, and not be exclusive to Microsoft’s platforms (Xbox and Windows). When you see that Call of Duty has been the best selling game nearly every year recently, you can understand Sony’s plea.

Microsoft’s Xbox Series S Parity Demands Are Now Handing Sony Free Wins (www.forbes.com)

At the start of this console generation, Microsoft made a surprising decision. Rather than split its consoles between disc and digital-only like Sony, it actually split them between power level. The Xbox Series S was cheaper, but lacked the horsepower of the more expensive Series X. It was meant to be a bridge between...

Yes, weirdly the very same website wrote about it back then (iflscience.com/fully-intact-dinosaur-embryo-found…). I’m not sure what inspired another article now.

This was originally published in 2021 so I wonder why it has a new article.

Fan Ports PlayStation Classic [WipeOut], Dares Sony To Shut Him Down And Make Its Own (kotaku.com)

WipeOut was Sony’s initial first-party exclusive for the original PlayStation when it launched back in 1995. The anti-gravity racing game was phenomenal. Now it’s abandoned. So one dedicated programmer took it upon himself to excavate the game’s leaked source code and make it playable for free in any web browser....

I should have commented in the post that it is not my view and is supposed to initiate discussion. I’ve edited the original post with the following question:

While questioning scientific practices has led to some significant improvements despite heavy criticism at the time, how do we today justify dismissing unpopular/uncomfortable ideas while continuing to make scientific progress?

This bot should see when a link has already been posted and not duplicate it. Similarly, some kind of automod should prevent the same article being posted twice.
