They are. That’s all we buy for TVs. Monitors are great too. Have super fancy ones at work. Not that I go to the office much, because that place sucks.
I got an LG last time, never again, WebOS is trash and there is no way to flash anything else on it. I’m kinda over smart tvs all around, but if I have to get one it will run that shit.
My next TV is gonna be a projector. I only ever use it at night for movie/shows occasionally. I don’t really need a TV, my pc is what I’m using most days.
My Samsung fridge has been fantastic over the past 10 years but for one thing. The control panel is borked so I can’t actually change any settings lol. But as it stands, doing a solid job.
Most would agree with your point - right up until you suggest that having an “uncorrupt government” is remotely possible.
Pretty much the same level of unrealistic idealism as folks who think it’s remotely possible to transition a state to communism without it turning into authoritarianism.
There, now I’ve pissed off everyone lol
Edit: Except, I guess for the hardcore capitalists, but I assume those guys are all too dumb to read, so no point, really 🤷

You should spread the word about lemmyunleashed.net its a really small instance that operates democratically. I’m the only ancom here (that I know of) but I think it’d be a great place for anarchists due to its direct democratic nature. And anarchists don’t really have a space of their own on lemmy that I know of
Luckily an entirely uncorrupt government is not necessary, since that is indeed quite unlikely to ever happen. It is enough to have low corruption, which is much more achievable.
i think i agree, it’s not that hard because you only need 3 ingredients for a prosperous capitalist society: 1) reasonably clean and effective government; 2) good regulation, which takes care of workers and the environment in the country; 3) a heavily exploited third world where 1st world mining companies go to get cheap resources and employ a semi-slave labor force that has to drink the resulting poisoned water, and if they ever have the gall to revolt you just sanction or nato-bomb their asses back to the stone age
it has been working for centuries, i dunno why these leftoids keep talking shit
Maybe so, but… That might be because China and America have too much international power. Power attracts the corrupt and global power attracts the most corrupt on the globe.
There’s a book about why power seems to attract this sort of people - can’t remember the name right now, might update later.
In short, it’s not power on its own, but rather the systems we built around and for power, making it unattractive for people we want to end up in power, while the people who we don’t want to end up in power pursue it regardless because they want power for the sake of it.
What I’m trying to say is, this is another issue that we can actually tackle and solve to a large degree. There’s hope!
All states are authoritarian. Where do you think all the authority comes from?
A state having authority isn’t always a bad thing though, the current state is really great if you’re a white male property owner!
And those guys won’t be too happy if you take that state away from them, so whatever comes next would need the authority to resist that counter-revolution.
But that’s authoritarian, so we should just let them take back over and keep doing the authoritarianism that supports their interests.
same level of unrealistic idealism as folks who think it’s remotely possible to transition a state to communism without it turning into authoritarianism.

Thats the problem tho, the new mozilla leadership is on the “do anything but nothing” ship. I really hope they either dont do anything too horrible or someone forks it if they do.
You mean hope that they too don’t become subject to enshittification? I don’t have a lot of faith in that.
Besides that, Google is controlling as fuck. They might keep fucking themselves over but there’s no way they won’t start attempting to ruin things for the rest of us.
Thankfully the AI use is very tame so far, used for stuff like offline alt text generation and offline translation. I’m personally still concerned about copyrights and ethics of the models used, but at least it’s directed towards providing specific features, not a magic cure-all.
OP doesn’t know shit about arictechture OR history.
Early on in Italy they did finish buildings but due to the gravity situation and the soil there they would tilt over. Using the protractor (invented by da Vinci, an ITALIAN) they started calculating which part of the buildings to leave off so they would stay level.
and it could’ve been another work of art from u/shittymorph if In nineteen ninety eight the undertaker had thrown mankind off hеll in a cell, and plummeted sixteen feet through an announcer’s table and…
I do think it’s important that people know what it is they’re celebrating, but yeah like my local Chinese community always does a lunar new year celebration that is open to everyone. I think a lot of Chinese people (and other communities that celebrate the lunar new year, like Okinawan Korean Vietnamese and many others) see open celebration as creating more appreciation for and understanding of their culture.
