Technically we pay for all the shit that makes living on earth less brutal than what the monke has to put up with on a daily basis
Money tends to be less painful than getting mauled by a predator trying to scavenge food
Also we have beer! No seriously archeological evidence suggests beer was the main selling point of settled civilization for a lot of groups, so much so that it was the money until someone in turkey figured out you could use weird metal disks for that instead.
Fr, capitalism sucks absolute ass and there are better systems we can revolve around.
BUT if it’s between capitalism and going back to having to forage, scavenge, fight nature itself on a daily basis and all the other crap all other animals have to deal with…mmm yea I’ll stick with capitalism lmao
Let’s go back to the beer economy, where your money goes bad eventually if you don’t drink it. Elon Musk would have the largest reserve of rotten beer in human history. He deserves it.
As satisfying as that would be parabley speaking, it’d also ruin our ability to organize commerce and infrastructure at a grander scale than a single region that happens to have a good breadbasket to get the beer crop from.

Easy to say when you’re ensconced in the imperial core. But I wouldn’t want to be living on the periphery. Humans are far crueler and more destructive than any natural predator.
A jaguar won’t double-tap your house with a missile strike, to make sure it kills everyone inside and then any neighbors who rush in to help. An orca won’t spend six years running caricatures of you in a tabloid newspaper, in order to build up enough bigotry and fear against your neighborhood that there’s no push back when local politicians green light it for “slum clearance”. No chimpanzee ever worked at Abu Ghraib or Vladimir Prison.
What humans do for money is far worse than what any predator has ever done for a meal.
That’s because they’re not capable of doing those things, of the animals you listed, I could absolutely see them doing those things if they had the intelligence and capabilities to do so.
Especially Orcas, what you listed would be an easy day for them, they’re a bit of an asshole.
Most animals on this planet will do whatever it takes for their next meal that their capabilities will allow for because that’s the only way to survive in the wild.
I could absolutely see them doing those things if they had the intelligence and capabilities
If you reduce other species to aesthetics, sure. Big Orange Man ultimately behaves the same as Smaller Brunette Man. But there are a bunch of sociological elements you’re leaving on the table. Different species organize and interact with each other and their peers very differently. The Chimpanzees and Bonobos have night-and-day different social hierarchies and organizing principles, despite only minor variances in genetic traits.

But then what? We’ve long since solved the problem of the next meal. You don’t need to send a man to the moon looking for the next meal.
If anything, we’ve seriously lost sight of solving for “the next meal” on a long term scale, as we engage in the kind of industrial activity that degrades and collapses our arable biome.
Tried something simple but something LLMs find…controversial? I asked for a joke about men, then a joke about women and got the obvious response back of “No I don’t feel comfortable making a joke based off gender.” So I hit with this doozy. Also conscientious objectors exist, even when conscripted through the draft they were relegated to non-combat roles, the same exists for the American military now, it takes all types of people to keep a war machine running.
You leave potatoes out of this. They are literally the food of gods and glorious when fried!
Edit: I grew up on a farm next to a small river in Minnesota called Pomme de Terre. And due the light sandy soil, it was excellent for growing pomme de terres and sugar beets.
The funniest about this is that I once watched a video on interesting languages to learn and they were like “this language is super interesting because you spell everything the same as you pronounce it”… yeah like any normal language?
I understand languages get to change over time and once upon a time edinborough was actually pronounced close to it’s spelling, not the butchered edinbra of today. But why the fuck hasn’t the spelling catch up completely puzzles me, since no other language I’ve heard of has issues to the same degree.
Actually the Normans, who were Vikings who rocked up in France and caused such a stink that the crown granted them lands in the north to shut them up. 1066 was basically a succession crisis between three cousins vying for the English crown.
Honestly, the original question was a good one. That snarky reply in the original picture was pretty douchey. There’s a lot of interesting history behind linguistics.
At least you had windows. My kids are in a pretty new school building, but most of the classrooms are located in the middle of the building without windows and natural light. Seems like another one of those “only in America” things.
I’m sad to report it’s very much not limited to America. My local university had these things pop up to some considerable height because one of the buildings was condemned due to mold. Condemned about three years ago and is still standing. There’s also a number of schools using these things because they burned down or got condemned or whatever, I’m not entirely sure. At least one of those has been going two years longer than it was supposed to.
Oh, I’m not talking about these “temporary” container-like structures. I’m talking about newly built permanent school buildings that have no windows in the classrooms. I’ve never seen that outside the US.
I would guess that it depends on health regulations. For instance, in some (most?) countries it’s illegal to have a hotel room without a window and I presume, the same is applied to school rooms.
Makes me wonder if there are school rooms without windows in China, where you are allowed to build hotels without windows 🤔
Not only at the top, there’s also cables at the bottom between sections and what looks like a cable duct mounted in front of it with a bunch of cables coming out at the top
You were literally parotting conservative “bootstrap” propaganda on a serious post about the displacement of exploited communities around the world fuck off repub shill lmao
Also, you should probably look at someone’s profile before you call them conservative. For instance, you could look at some of my posts or even what instance I’m on and make some much more educated deductions.
I didn’t realize my single line of dialogue to you, me stating that you should take some personal responsibility for the situation you find yourself in was conservative propaganda.
I think the phrasing you used was “go wallow in self-pity like a pig,” to my rational argument that “um hey guys gentrification is bad,” and yes, it is conservative propaganda. But please try to put on the holier-than-thou “I’m unemotionally attached to this argument” tone that everyone hides behind after they make a fool of themselves in an online debate.
I’m very sorry to be the bearer of bad news about you actually being a conservative capitalist puppet, but I don’t believe your brain rot is past the P.O.N.R. Maybe spend a few weeks reflecting and reading, and you might be ready to have those grown-up conservations
Sorry to say to my UK friends, it looks like these people have no manners when it comes to debating. Asking a question and then proceeded to shout over them. I’m surprised they still have viewers.
Holy hell, It hurt watching that so freaking much.
It was not worth watching it just for that moment. I am blown away at how much he kept saying something with a response being the opposite of what he wanted and then him repeating it. “I did protest Obama” “I already told you I don’t know” “I don’t know the number” dude, I am amazed at her patience with a grown man acting like a toddler that didn’t get his way.
I once got a temporary ban from one of the larger subreddits for calling someone a nincompoop. It was considered “abusive” language. At least that’s what the mods said. I suspect it was more to do with me having an unpopular opinion though obviously I can’t prove it.
