Not a bad looking effort either, no black pudding or tattie scone, and some iced coffee looking abomination over a good builders tea keeps it from perfection, but good go. Glad you liked it.
Yeah, I haven’t found any coffee shop around me where I can buy myself something better than instant coffee for home, so when I saw they had coffee I had to go for it!
There’s been a real boom in roasters over here in the UK over event years. No idea how you like your coffee but I love Roaring Stag up in Ballater, Scotland. They so online delivery, if you like a real dark roast their Dark Lochnagar is great.
I was thinking of trying this year coffee with a filter where you drop water on it, last year I tried coffee with an Italian Machine. I’m not big into coffee but I want to try different ways and the difference it makes
I have a beginner question, if i’d go for an aeropress, or a simple filter. The coffee always has to be grinded before putting the water, so either I also need a grinding machine, or I would be limited to buying pre-grinded coffee which I am guessing from what I’ve looked at, is rarer to find
That is a good point, yes it needs to be ground and finely at that. The pages I but my brand from do offer to grind for you though. Also I’m the supermarkets in the UK it is mostly ground that is sold, though I don’t know how finely.
Decent electric grinders are pretty cheap, and worth it, I’d say.
But pre-ground coffee is much easier to find than beans, you just need to make sure you get the right grind for your preferences. In an Aeropress, if it’s an Espresso grind, don’t brew it for more than ~30 seconds (with a bit of a stir). If it’s a coarser grind, use the inverted method and brew it for 2-3 minutes before pressing. You’ll need to experiment a bit to find out how you like it.
You can get permanent metal filters for the Aeropress. Connoisseurs will tell you it makes a difference, I just want minimum hassle and running out of filters is a hassle.
Hey @JimmyChanga ! I come back here to tell you that I made a small budget and leard a bit more about coffee from your comment 4 months ago, and got myself an Aeropress! It’s coming tomorow! I’ll be waiting a tiny bit before getting myself an aeropress, my parents have some unopened pre-grinded coffee they didn’t use anymore that i’ll finish before then! Thank you for you coment 4 months ago and happy new year!
If having affairs outside of marriage counts as a ‘straight to hell’ offence, then sure. Also if pride still counts as a deadly sin, then off downstairs he goes. But he was an atheist in life.
Heaven looks boring anyway - I’d rather be where my friends are.
It’s weird as shit that people keep bringing it up, like they think Hawking was out there raping kids while he can only talk with his cheek muscles.
Part of the point of Epstein Island was that he’d invite academics and celebrities on the premise of an all expense paid island meet and greet. The child rape wasn’t included in the free tour, they were there as a smokescreen for the paying clients.
If you want to blame him for helping provide cover, go for it, but I personally don’t expect random extremely disabled professors to be able to spot an oligarchal pedophile ring that wasnt yet exposed.
Like, seriously, why does Lemmy always bring up Hawking and not any of the people who might have actually abused a child?
Either the CIA is very good at it and no other countries can match them at toppling a regime, or they’re really sloppy and we only know about it because of it, plus other large nations are doing it better than them without raising suspicion.
This… this is the ninja thing again. Was Japan famous for its ninjas because they were the best in the world, or did every other country have ninja and Japan was just so shit at it that we associate them with Japan?
Because our perception of ninja is based around kabuki theater and not historical accuracy. Kabuki theater stage hands were always dressed in black to blend into the background. When an ninja assassination would happen in a show, the “stage hand” would do the assassination because the audience knows to kinda ignore the stage hands during the production.
IRL ninja would just look like normal people, waiting for the right opportunity to strike at someone.
I see it as they’re like master painters, just because you can see their brush strokes on the canvas, doesn’t mean it wasn’t masterfully done.
The CIA wants people to know what they’ve done but without giving away what they’re doing now and that’s what the CIA is really good at. It’s why things like Trump taking the classified documents with him to Mar a Lago was such a huge deal, because they contained secrets that are still in use today and has led to a number of our own agents getting captured or killed.
It’s just high, high volume. You swing at every pitch and you’re statistically bound to eventually hit some home runs. The CIA is always up to some shit.
This is something that the CIA actively engages in. It’s not quite at the covfefe level of “we meant to get caught,” but they do occasionally put out the word that they like it when they’re perceived as ham-fisted bunglers as it makes it easier to get away with stuff.
The reality is that the CIA can only go so far in actually manufacturing dissent. More often they merely amplify and enable opposition which already exists. That’s why the whole “CIA coup” meme is really a bit of a joke in the modern context. The CIA didn’t ship millions of protestors willing to eat bullets into Kyiv. The whining really does reduce to “how dare you convince people that your system is better and provide material support to people with real grievances?”. As if the CIA has a monopoly on agitprop
I’m sorry, but that’s fair game as far as I’m concerned. If you don’t like it then be less shitty.
Uhh the CIA has been working on promoting Banderaism since the 60s AT LEAST. Also, hardcore neonazis/banderists have died already during the battle for Bahkmut.
Everyone else is being sent to die for either MiC profits or it’s some type of depopulation plan.
They have by far the largest budget. The US, Japan, and SK are our vassels. Their intelligence agencies don’t do shit without us okaying it. There’s a reason that Europe didn’t say shit after we blew up nordstream 2.
Why? I’ve heard this for years at this point, but as someone who rarely uses snaps because they’re the only convenient option for software I’m using, I’m generally ambivalent about them.
People seem to hold really strong opinions about snap but I’ve never been able to get a straight answer, just a bunch of hand waving.
So that’s admittedly not a good look for canonical, but my read of that is that if you’re getting widely-known software from a developer who’s publishing it to snap themselves, and you’re cautious about your usage, snap is fine.
For example, essentially my only use of snap is to install certbot. If I follow the directions from certbot.eff.org precisely, then I’ll get certbot installed and no issues.
I certainly agree that (a) the system is ripe for abuse and (b) should be self-hostable to support Free software. Both of these could be fixed by canonical opening it up.
My biggest hit was when they pushed browsers to snaps, and I couldn’t do some of my school projects because my school stuff was on a separate disk that the snap was not allowed to access. (Had to use o365, and wasn’t installing windows to write my papers)
Nix, guix, flatpak, and OSI images are all better “universal” packages managers on sheer technical merits while also not be a vendor locked proprietary solution.
I scheduled another meeting at 10. It's about the meeting we had at 8:30. Productivity is down and we need to figure out why. We may need some additional meetings in the afternoon.
It’s not an attack, but I will never understand how mushrooms can be appealing to people. I will never be able to grasp it. To me, mushrooms are grotesque and the desire I see in people to eat them is the equivalent of craving spoiled food. The flavor is not enough to counter the texture triggering my gag reflex.
Yeah, yeah. We all have different tastes and stuff. It’s just a hard thing to wrap my head around.
I mean they are definitely inside our understandig. They‘re just not animals or plants, but fungi. With all the diversity we have on earth it probably make sense that we have organisms that aren‘t classified as neither animals or plants.
And it’s not like we don’t love other fungus. Any yeasty bread contains fungus (yeasty breads include most nonquick beads or flat breads and like cinnamon rolls or pizza crust).
How do you feel about sauerkraut, kimchi, sour cream, cheese, yogurt, Worcestershire sauce, fish sauce, soy sauce, tofu, tempeh, beer, wine, or dry aged meats?
As far as kinda gross foods go I’d put mushrooms pretty far down the list. People eat crazy shit all the time. Once you clean em off there’s really nothing wrong with them.
Also most of the food you eat grows in actual shit.
I felt the same until some point in high school when I realized all food ultimately grows from recycled rot, so I decided to try liking mushrooms. It was a lot easier to overcome the texture of those than of raw tomato or onion and opened up a whole new world of umami flavor. Just wash them and cook them; there’s no understanding the people eating them raw…
Some mushrooms can be poisonous after 24h, just in case. angel wing mushroom shows no digestive symptoms but encephalopathy after 2 day to 1 month of latent period. The mushroom was known to be edible for a long time. Were it not for full screening for encephalopathy cases (enforced due to SARS spread back in 2004), it could’ve remain “edible” still now.
That was me on a mail-chain about an issue that would result in us losing our licence to operate in a certain market if we didn’t have a fix before the end of Easter with the first mail arriving the week before Easter.
That was until I figured out I had to fix the issue though…
Eugh. That feeling is the worst job related one. When you realize that you could’ve handled it within working hours but because you tried to dodge it you end up having to work overtime and mess up the family plans for the holiday…
Now-a-days I make damn sure someone I know is competent has the task assigned to them with ample time to fail and notify me without it leading to an all-nighter.
Well, the first mail arrived Friday afternoon leading up to the Easter week and I looked at it Monday thinking “sucks to be the guy responsible for that” before seeing the ticket pop into my team’s desk. It is a task that takes 3 weeks to implement with a full team so the issue is known by level 2 staff and probably even our CEO. At least we’re told that we have the entire IT department at our disposal, but holy hell, who the fuck comes up with an all-or-nothing deadline of 3 working days?
Someone who fucked up in one way or another. Anything that’s not a security related incident with a CVE entry is bound to be a major oversight by someone. Remember over promising is a fuck up, not business as usual in a healthy organisation.
