3D printing, cleaning some forever chemicals while making a fuckton of microplastics.

(I know this is ceramic, I’m talking about 3D printing in general)

LazaroFilm ,

Believe me I am well aware of that. I just thought the irony too god to stay quiet.

You never take your trash out? Also those microplastic go everywhere. Stick to your clothes your shoes…

My wife, newly hired, was asked to un-blur her camera during a routine meeting to confirm her I9 information. This seems like a violation to me?

She had interviewed and met both remotely and in person, this guy was merely an HR drone confirming her documentation. I was a little bent when she told me he had asked her to remove her blur filter “to have a look at her working environment, make sure it’s not cluttered” (something along those lines). No one else at this...

This could be raised as discrimination. Not only regarding income, but could also be against disabilities. People with ADHD (hello it’s me!) are really bad at organizing, especially desks and work areas (I work in layers of papers like sedimentation). I would definitely take notes on this incident and if it continues or if he job gets changed following.

LazaroFilm ,
@LazaroFilm@lemmy.world avatar

That’s why I said keep notes. Recount the event with timestamp. If things continue or get worse you now have a file with all occurrences. And if you get fired for calling out HR, that’s an easy lawsuit.

Java uses double ram.

Let’s be honest: I only use Java for Minecraft. So I only debugged with it. But all version, server or client, all launchers. All of them use double (or more) RAM. In the game the correctly allocated amount is used, but on my system double or more is allocated. Thus my other apps don’t get enough memory, causing crashes,...

LED lights are either all on or all off, the only way to dim a LED, is to make it blink really fast and change the time it’s on vs the time it’s off. Cheap LED lights don’t blink fast enough, so you see them flicker.

LazaroFilm , (edited )
@LazaroFilm@lemmy.world avatar

Changing the current can change the hue (color) of the led. In some cases it’s okay in some cases it isn’t. Cinema lights for instance don’t dim with voltage because of that. Instead they have 3 separate drivers synchronized to dim in a canon. One after the other so that there is always the same number of LEDs on at all time regardless of the dimmer level.

LazaroFilm ,
@LazaroFilm@lemmy.world avatar

That’s awesome! I love how deep we are going with this! I have to admit I don’t k or as much about cinema lighting as I know about cameras and Steadicam.

You got to try the #3 Legacy of time then! The characters are real actors filmed, the cut scenes are like small movies! I’ve never seen anything like this before (or after)

I loved point and click games! I definitely was that weird kid too lol

I’m from France and this gave was only in English (a family friend from San Francisco gave it to me) and I decided to finish it with a friend of mine that spoke English. We had a dictionary and looked up every word we didn’t understand. This game helped me learn English and now I live in New York!

My list of favorite point and clicks were:

  • Atlantis (all 3 games) by Cryo (a French game studio)
  • Versailles also by Cryo,
  • basically all Cryo interactive games
  • Amerzona
  • Myst/Raven (but I didn’t play it as much, I liked the story driven ones and Myst was too much of a puzzle with no story for me)
LazaroFilm OP ,
@LazaroFilm@lemmy.world avatar

And Arthur! Man Arthur was such a fun companion. Witty, funny and was also helpful in guiding you into harder puzzles without just giving you the answer!

LazaroFilm OP ,
@LazaroFilm@lemmy.world avatar

Believe me I kinda had that feeling when I found it just sitting there in the swap shop (swap shop is a small shack at the dump where people put things they don’t want but still works. There are a lot of dishes, silverware, tools, moldy books, old toys, some old electronics, and sometimes retro games. I found a Wii classic controller and a GameGear there before and now this!)

Also I highly recommend playing the #3 Legacy of time (you can find it on Internet archive). It’s still awesome!

Now I want to make a AI Smart home assistant modeled on Arthur. With that little robot on a mirror hologram or something…

I switched to DuckDuckGo on all my devices and I get shocked that people can’t find anything when they search.

LazaroFilm ,
@LazaroFilm@lemmy.world avatar

Because that search monopoly allows them to boost their other products above all others. It’s not an impartial search result anymore. There is a financial incentive to favor their own products.

Here are the photos (from X):

It’s a GameCube with a Dolphin name printed on it. Dolphin was the development name of the console which also gave the name of the emulator.

Most manga were releasing on a weekly basis. That’s a lot of work with short deadlines. He probably calculated the maximum amount of time per page and times himself in order to be able to finish on time.

TIL that in 2020, Burger King ran an advertising campaign featuring a picture of a moldy Whopper, to prove that their burgers are made without preservatives. This unconventional advertising method worked, increasing sales by 14% (according to multiple sources.)

LazaroFilm ,
@LazaroFilm@lemmy.world avatar

The biggest issue is, if it can’t mold, then there’s no way to know if you’re eating a fresh burger or one that was left out for a week. The reason it doesn’t mold is because they dehydrate the food so mold can’t grow without moisture. That also degrades a lot of proteins that would be good to consume. Dehydrated not molding food is good for ration food, not for comfort food.

Hyundai and Kia car thefts fall sharply after software upgrade, study finds (www.cbsnews.com)

A social media trend, dubbed the “Kia Challenge,” has appeared to compound the automakers’ problems in recent years, with people posting videos showing how to steal Hyundai and Kia cars. Has biometric been considered for cars? I mean it’s used for phones and computers, why no cars. Maybe in addition to a key/fob. If it senses the fox and your biometrics (either finger or face or both even) it will start the car. If the car doesn’t recognize your biometrics, then you need to enter the key in the vehicle to start it. If it recognizes you can start it.
