Always weird to be reminded that the World’s eminent superpower is obsessed with cutting bits off babies’ dicks. But then, maybe that’s the secret behind their economic strength?
After all, the Romans did some pretty wild stuff, like making their horses generals.
Like why bother at that point? No one is going to eat that egg and be glad the hotel gave it to them. It’s just going to be a bad experience just before they leave, and potentially put them off choosing the hotel again.
Then a teenager being paid minimum wage for ten hours a week microwaved the hell out of them because they just don’t give a damn.
-1/10 stars … I wouldn’t return to this hotel, not because of the eggs but because the eggs are an indication of the overall quality of the hotel and it’s staff.
I’m not internet god, but I have a possible first step forward with a protocol and working implementation ;
Decentralized websites, encrypted and takedown safe. Free, FOSS and based on reciprocal sharing. Nothing very complicated, you need to forward a port and run a program.
I’m just a geek though, not a manager or marketing person so I’d love some people checking it out.
So true. I’d like to add that also because of ads, social media and other websites are full of nonsense clickbait content, and every part of the user experience is designed to keep you scrolling through said content. Even with an adblocker, it’s like wading through a swamp to find anything actually worth looking for. (Of course, there are still websites with no ads, and even the ones with ads aren’t always horrible. But generally, shit sucks.)
I believe you’re referring to “the algorithm”. Which is usually just code for “a bunch of people that view and engage with the content you have viewed/engaged with also viewed/engaged with this”
I understand what they’re doing and I understand why, but sometimes, I just want a reverse chronological feed of my friends activities, so I can keep up to date with their most recent life events.
A bunch of friends who actively use the app were praising it for its “freedom of speech” and “unmoderated nature”. Showed me some pretty foul things while they were at it :)) safe to say, I’ve started to move away from them

And that’s why any social media algorithm would think you’d be interested in such things. Report and block.
Sharon saw the writing on the wall. The game industry flood the market with a lot of crap games and consoles in that time period, leaving to the infamous 1983 video game crash.
That crash was caused by arcades popping up everywhere. Laser titles like dragons lair and space ace were full on animated video while the 2600 had 20 yellow pixels for Indiana Jones. You had two button running on track and field, flight sticks on tron and zaxxon, sit down cabs with steering wheels or the yoke in the star wars cab competing with the iconic but boring 2600 stick.
Wasn’t the market being flooded, it was nobody having any cash for a 2600 cartridge because we put it all in the arcade cabs ;)
I’ve told my family more than once to arrange my funeral the cheapest way possible. If they had the option to dump me in the ocean, they have my blessing. Don’t spend money on me, I’m DEAD.
It was really educational when I got to do it. Studying Netter’s and Gray’s (or in my case Finn Boysen Møller) can only get you so far. If you want to really understand anatomy, and the insane amount of variation that occurs, then dissection is a pretty good way forward.
You joke, but it really is an incredibly cool experience. I am not a doctor, but I was privileged to have a hands on anatomy class in school where we had human cadavers. Things are so different in person than they are in textbooks. And getting to actual see, touch, and feel how the human body works and how it goes wrong is just amazing. I was so wowed by it that it’s what led me to my career today (working in a hospital lab with human organs).
Don’t tell your family what to do at your funeral, because you’ll be dead. It’s not for you, it’s for the people left behind. So let them do what they feel is right.
Besides, how could ever know or care? You’re DEAD.
I have a song I’d like to be played for the 5 people who’ll attend, but that’s more about the message it convey - if I don’t get to use my death to influence people, then I guess I don’t really have a choice. I have a preference with regard to burial vs cremation, but that’s it. For the rest, you figure it out. Don’t want to maintain a burial plot? Fine, don’t want a tomb stone? Fine. You have to deal with it, so you get to decide.
It seemed apparent, to me at least, that the person you replied to had the intention of telling their loved ones not to spend on OP’s account. Not that they’re forbidding the family from any course of action.
I guess if you take it super literally, okay, whatever. But the smallest amount of thought seems to make this obvious.
I mean, what this ad should really read is “save your family thousands”. If you can afford it and have the resources, preplan your whole burial plan so your family can just grieve instead of dealing with all the admin of it.
We once accidentally did this in China far off the usual tourist locations for foreigners. People were chilling outside sitting around the table and we mastook them for a café. The host told us about the errors of our ways but was hospitable enough to talk with us and offered some food, which we paid for. That was an interesting experience
You wanna know something else? The majority of the world economy is already centrally planned. Not on the national level, on the corporate level. Business is dominated by a relatively few giant corporations with internal economies the size of some nations. None of them run free markets internally. Sears experimented with it, to their demise. Central planning is already the primary way that our economic lives are driven. It’s just we let unaccountable billionaires do the planning instead of an elected body.
People’s Republic of Walmart, a very good book which goes into detail about how successful corporations use communist-styled organization and how we could have that for ourselves if we all decided to stop funneling all our hard worked dollars up billionaire noses.
Someone took a list of insults written about soldiers in the military, and rephrased them. Do you actually think teachers would say this stuff about their students in writing?
I swear this website (collection of websites, social media network, whatever) makes me regret leaving reddit more and more every day. The people here are fully incapable of understanding sarcasm or humor. It’s hilarious
I think it’s partly because you’d get mocked ruthlessly on Reddit for missing the joke, whereas here either nobody points it out, or they’re very kind about it.
It’s like everyone’s opinion is “my tribe is always right and deserves all the sympathy, the other tribe is always wrong and deserves all the suffering”. No one cares about solutions or examining why a conflict has persisted for 80 years. Humans are so predictable.
Wish there was common nomenclature for referring to posters or parts of a comment to make the context clearer. Friends say I am on the spectrum but the Psychologist said that doesn’t seem to be the case.
Like, OP1 is lame, OP2 supports genocide, etc. to clarify within a thread without having to quote or @ which I find a bit clumsy and generally gets in the way of flow.
I’ll clarify, I’m just putting out a reminder that being fascist is not an inherent trait, like green eyes or dark skin. Literally anyone can fall into the trap of fascist thinking. The only way to be truly anti-fascist is to recognize the warning signs in your own thoughts and worldview.
So centrism can sometimes be a trap, but don’t demonize the practice of seeing both sides. Taking a hard line with one sides is a step on the path to becoming a fascist.
Yeah I think what I dislike about that is it breaks up the flow of whatever I am writing. There’s a coherence that is lost.
I’m accustomed to reading books or essays where there might be an excerpt, but more likely a paraphrase of what the author considers their opponent’s argument to be. This makes it helpful at times to pinpoint a misunderstanding in the author.
But yeah, having consistent rules on the internet for posting is a losing battle I think. More or less thinking out loud, appreciate the comment.
Yeah I think what I dislike about that is it breaks up the flow of whatever I am writing.
No, It doesn’t have to.
You can just write it out straight, without formatting, and then after you’re done that go back and add the asterisks to emphasize the parts that you want to emphasize, already having your thoughts jotted down.
Why would a Jew choose to live in the West Bank when there’s a much more pleasant country next door offering them citizenship? Your analogy is so flawed I have a hard time thinking you’re making it in good faith.
Well, according to your own words, Israel is a fascist state, hunting down Arab minorities. I have shown an example how a representative of an Arab minority has held an extremely high rank in Israel society, and I believe this fact undermines your claim, hence Israel is not a fascist state.
I wish two groups of people determined to kill each other could take it away from the civilian population, to say nothing of using human shields and attacking irrespective of potential collateral damage and non combatant deaths
Hardly anyone posting here is Israeli or Palestinian. It’s just distracting nonsense to divide us. Pick a side plebs. Look, those people have picked the other side. Hate them!
To be fair it isn’t the Israeli or Palestinian population is their governments. The populations are just sorta a second thought given both seem to be majority against it.
Individually, humans are erratic, not irrational. Seeing action without reason is very rare, the thing is that the reason that lead them is often flawed. Group dynamics are a whole different beast tho, they could be described as irrational.
I think it’s older than 80 years. I recall reading about old men spitting at each other over rights to fuck the prettiest goat in Mesopotamia way before Churchill took a shit.
Demanding an evacuation of a hospital full of patients, under the threat of bombardment, only for those patients to die of complications for not being treated, this is just a more silent mass murder.
LMAO, wait, your argument is that Hamas doesn’t use human shields, and it’s all Israeli propaganda?
Hamas has been openly, proudly discussing their use of the Palestinian civilians a human shields for… Basically forever.
This isn’t unique to Hamas, it’s a common trait of all jihadist groups. Innocent victims are rewarded for their faith in heaven, and evil victims are punished in hell. So I’m their warped mind there’s no moral consequence for murdering or endangering civilians. Please let that sink in before you continue to support them.
I don’t care if they’re for the youtuber’s own stuff. I don’t care what their cut is from youtube premium, they can take that up with youtube. I don’t want to see any ads of any kind if I’m paying for the content. Especially considering how much premium costs.
Disclaimer; I don’t use youtube premium, I use youtube in browsers that allow adblockers, and on android I use firefox with ublock.
