That’s alarming on the face of it, but not so far from clinical practice in the “West”, if we’re talking severe autism where the person is constantly agitated to the point of self-injurious behaviour. Interesting, in the UK they’d do something similar such as olanzapine with lorazepam. Quetiapine really is the one I’ve got a bee in my bonnet about. I don’t know about the USA but in the UK it gets over-prescribed just for the histaminergic component which I feel should be considered as more of a side effect. Bear in mine my knowledge is around twenty years out of date!

That is definitely not true! The killing that did happen was in the streets surrounding Tiananmen Square. This is now the official USA position, and recently declassified diplomatic cables confirm that the initial reports were incorrect.

Honesty, I misread their comment - I thought it was referring to that one guy, or the more extreme version of events with piles of human “pie” getting hosed down the drain. I’ve seen the actual footage - like I said, it’s bad enough without making things up.

Because it travels further, due to the curve, surely. So the air particles are more stretched across the top of the wing, and the pressure therefore lower than along the relatively straight underside of the wing. I thought that was the explanation. I’m interested to hear why that’s not a complete enough answer though, because planes are clearly flying.

Yes, those are all good points. I’ve decided the answer is related to the directionality of gravity somehow, but I’m not sure why. So you’re already working with one acceleration vector when stationary. As in, the air underneath is being pushed on in a way the air above the wing isn’t, almost like cavitation versus compression. Then you add the thrust vector and the little differentials add up to the point it generates lift. I’ll keep thinking about it!

Not quite - they believe gender is a social construct, to the point that it literally doesn’t exist, and the material reality of your biological sex is all there is. Historically, sociology followed biology, and sexual dimorphism is therefore the root of inequality between the sexes (particularly the fact that only females bear children).
