When you normally delete a file, it doesn’t actually delete it, to save time it just marks the space as free, so any new files can be written into that part of your drive.
But the actual data just remains there until a new file is written to the storage.
SecureErase does the second part without making an actual file.
The annoying thing is the ancient Egyptians actually did use meteorite iron, which we know because Tutankhamun was found with a knife made from it! If you’re so interested in Egyptians using meteors to build things then the real deal is RIGHT THERE! You don’t have to make shit up!
His doctor was like “Hey man, you gotta take your turban off and put on a motorcycle helmet.”
And he was like “Nah, bro, what if I just wore a bigger turban?”
And his doctor was like “Dude, you’d need a turban that’s like 100lbs to offer you the same protection as a good helmet.”
Avtar: “Bet.”
Notable for being a class of substances that freaks out Erowid, a website that otherwise thinks that just about every drug can be used safely if you know what you’re doing. If it freaks them out it freaks me out.
You think that’s wild? A related addiction class is huffing aerosols. Now go look up “I’m walking on sunshine lady” and wow did she burn out her brain.
youtu.be/Avcz9Z1ekcM?si=cOkufj583AgbQt9Uwell, that was a disturbing experience… (link doesn’t explain the full stroy though but I kinda don’t want to look more into it)
This thread has some disinformation. In particular, whippits are nitrous oxide, which is commonly used by dentists as a mild anesthesia. It’s mostly safe and biggest risk is hypoxia if done in a place with poor ventilation or via a method that doesn’t stop if you pass out.
It’s very different from the aerosol inhalant abuse like the walking on sunshine lady video linked here.
It’s literally used by dentists and is more commonly known as laughing gas.
It’s considered a low risk anesthesia. The only talk on erowid is that it can cause temporary hypoxia by displacing oxygen in the lungs which might lead to some minor death of brain cells just the same as inhaling helium to make your voice sound funny.
There is some reports of very long exposure having some effects on neurons, but that was inconclusive and more around anesthesiologists working in poorly ventilated rooms being exposed daily.
As long as you aren’t putting yourself in a place where if you inhale too much and pass out that you are still breathing n2o you should be fine. And so long as you aren’t inhaling directly out of a freshly cracked can where it comes out at literally freezing temperatures.
Most people will use a cracker that fills a balloon and is mostly safe. Just do so in a well ventilated location.
Almost literally the same “feeling” as breathing in a helium balloon except it makes your voice deep, like mega deep. And makes you happy laugh for a short time.
I’m gonna recognize that what I said came across way way more harsh than was intended, this was meant to be playful, as are my responses below - I seem to be learning that my tone and how I speak do not always translate well to being written - for this, I apologize. I do need to work on monitoring my snark levels.
I’d like to state - that you are more than welcome to drink or do what you want. I was attempting to razz op - not berate op… even though milk is straight up disgusting and I gag when people drink it by itself and I cannot understand why anyone would make that choice - it is their choice.
This is a me problem - not a them problem.
Have fun enjoying your gross animal juice everyone. I’ll just sit over here with my water.
Restaurants menus lacking milk as a drinking option is definitely a positive for me - I do not wish to dine alongside whatever freak chooses to drink milk with their meal.
Cow boob juice is for baby cows. Human boob juice is for baby humans. Adults of any species should have developed past ingesting boob juice in childhood.
I mean I’ve known that I’m lactose intolerant since I was 13 or something and I had to be be bribed to drink it before that so, yeah, it wasn’t hard to stay away from drinking straight milk into adulthood.
I’ve never drank milk as an adult, and I honestly don’t know if I can think of anyone I’ve ever known that has ordered milk alone (not in coffee or something) as an adult and drank it. I’m not white though, so idk. But a lot of my friends and coworkers are, and I’ve never seen it.
I like this interpretation of history. I guess that means the Wright brothers were drinking Red Bull?
More seriously, they drank milk because they were pastoralists with a lot of it, and because it’s something you can consume. Hell, they were even lactose intolerant; if you happen to be European or West African all the better. Not sure where this “it’s for kids” idea comes from, maybe it’s some kind of American cultural thing. (If you want to be really bio-deterministic, it’s for babies, older children are in the same group as adults)
Side note Italy being blue explains why they have strange rules such as “no cappuccino after noon”, it’s not that it’s bad or anything it’s that many Italians can only stomach one, maybe two a day.
Might also depend on where you are. I understand that in Finland, it’s extremely common to drink milk all the time, whereas in East Asia, where adult lactose intolerance is the norm, adult milk consumption isn’t really a thing at all.
Because I’ve literally only known a single adult to opt into drinking milk and it was my 90 year old grandfather. Always thought it was super strange to like milk so much.
I once had to live with a guy that would go through 2-4 gallons in a week on his own and just let the empty jugs build up in (around) the recycle bin for weeks on end. Grew up on a dairy farm. Honestly I shouldn’t have to say more to tell you he was a freak.
Haha wow, yeah that’s pretty weird. I can’t stand the taste of milk, but I feel like even if I could, like anything else, it would get sort of sickening in such large quantities
My homie, if you have never had the glory that is milk with a cheeseburger, you’re missing out.
Spaghetti? Bomb.
Burritos? Bomb
I can keep going, and even explain how and why various foods can be paired with milk and not only be as good as any other beverage, but can sometimes be better. It isn’t every food, but it works often enough to be worth trying.
In a similar train of thought, have you tried having (good) orange juice with Mexican food? I used to love having it once in a while when we brought home Rosa’s. Never did at a restaurant. Not a complete heathen. 😁
Meaningful if you’re looking for predictors on birth rates, I suppose. Usually I see studies like this used to explain why populations start to decline.
It’s interesting, but that stat doesn’t really tell us everything. It only looks at guys who haven’t been with any women since they turned eighteen. A lot has changed since 2008, especially with more same-sex couples being open and accepted. That detail alone could throw off those numbers. Plus, with all the tech and social changes, who’s to say people’s sex lives haven’t shifted in other ways too?
Not every study has to be about everything, there’s plenty of interesting things this tells us.
Lots of follow up studies too, are gen z women the same or do they all go for older guys or the same guy? Is this trend tied with sexual identity, how do men feel about it, do porn habits correlate, how does it split demographically and economically…
Doing a study on all these factors would be huge and expensive, getting a good data point to inform future study design is a vital step.
But yeah look up the paper I bet they asked more than one question and have a methodology based on sound principles trying to increase understanding of a complex subject.
Yeah is bet this is it. Born in 1785 is the right time to easily still live off the inherited wealth of a founded city, and even more than now, law is a particularly favourable career for members of that class to retain their wealth and enter politics.
I love that they always manage to demonstrate poor reading comprehension so clearly, like the note about private property is clearly in the context of Marxist beliefs not an assumption the world will be Marxist.
