Counterpoint: Considering the scale of Lemmy compared to reddit, it’s hard to strike a chord. Suspend your doubt and keep making music jokes on a regular cadence. Someday you’ll hit the right tempo and and reach harmony with other users who recognize it as your signature style.

metallic_substance ,

Yeah, totally. As someone who used reddit for 10 years and had comment karma in the several hundreds of thousands, it still pisses me off that it was ruined in the way it was

metallic_substance ,

I’ve awarded you Lemmy gold 🪙. It’s buried 8 feet down in your backyard located at this exact coordinate: 37.78499221801758,-122.3960189819336

metallic_substance ,

I’m convinced he’s just not literate enough to make it through a whole article with so many big boy words

metallic_substance ,

What do you mean by rh- blood types? I don’t understand

metallic_substance ,

Thanks for that, but I’m still struggling to understand the link between this blood type and “actors/actresses”

metallic_substance ,

What the fuck is going on with Seinfeld recently? Holy shit.

metallic_substance ,

This should absolutely be the top comment. Holy shit, Rodgers is such a fucking moron

metallic_substance ,

If you stopped following sports 8 (fucking 8!) years ago, why the fuck are you here making hopeful comments about Rodgers?

metallic_substance ,

This is some world class gymnastics to make this article relevant to a (completely unrelated) topic that matters to you

Yes, and milk was the singular reason they were able to. Turns out those Got Milk commercials had it right all along

[Serious] Why do so many people seem to hate veganism?

Seen a lot of posts on Lemmy with vegan-adjacent sentiments but the comments are typically very critical of vegan ideas, even when they don’t come from vegans themselves. Why is this topic in particular so polarising on the internet? Especially since unlike politics for example, it seems like people don’t really get upset by...

metallic_substance ,

Just like with everything else that people make into a lifestyle or part of their identity. Most are cool, but there’s always a vocal minority of dillweeds that take it way too seriously or use it to judge others that aren’t part of their pack.

The future is HERE. If it laughs when you take your cock out then it’s a 1:1 simulation

I get the apathy, but it’s not the way forward. It just makes matters worse

To be clear, I’m under no delusions that anyone from the company will see this comment, but this is enough for me to never buy their products ever again. So they have verifiably lost at least one customer for life over this.

On the infinitesimal chance someone from the company does see it who has decision-making power from within:

Fuck (capital F) your garish plastic crap with LEDs plastered all over it. Your products were a hard pass before this, and now I’m encouraging others to avoid you

metallic_substance ,

I am though. The thing is, I have bought their products in the past. At one point I was a customer. This shit makes me a detractor, which is potentially negative sales beyond my own

metallic_substance ,

I’ve been following the jackbox stuff since it’s inception and I can’t agree more. Hopefully it’s good though. I guess we’ll see. Let them cook, I suppose

Salinger is a classic example of this. One of the most celebrated authors of all time. He really only wrote one full novel and then essentially disappeared from public view. Despite this I don’t think anyone would consider him a failed writer by any definition

Tech brands are forcing AI into your gadgets—whether you asked for it or not (arstechnica.com)

Earlier this year, Microsoft added a new key to Windows keyboards for the first time since 1994. Before the news dropped, your mind might’ve raced with the possibilities and potential usefulness of a new addition. However, the button ended up being a Copilot launcher button that doesn’t even work in an innovative way....

metallic_substance ,

At the time the cloud stuff was first being talked about, I worked a a large tech company (one of the top 10 largest). I remember being told by managers and above how important it was and how we should start thinking about how to integrate it into every facet of our products and workplace. The CEO railed on this as well, tying KPIs to it at all levels of the business. This company makes all kinds products in the realm of hardware and software. Everyone went absolutely apeshit integrating everywhere, including A LOT of places it didn’t belong

Tesla’s in its flop era (www.theverge.com)

When Tesla releases its first quarter earnings this afternoon, the company’s CEO Elon Musk will field the usual questions about new products, new factories, and progress toward its futuristic vision of self-driving cars and robot workers. But Musk will also face increasingly urgent questions about its current state of affairs...

I’m honestly shocked. Who could have predicted? 😲

I’m curious, the guy seems like a total scumsack, what is his motivation in all of this outing Trump?

YSK : Dark patterns among large companies are becoming more mainstream (youtu.be)

While it is no secret that exploitative practices are interlaced with capitalistic tendencies, the practices are becoming intolerable. Signing up to pay usually takes only two clicks that are prominently visible whereas cancelation options are hidden away in deep settings requiring multiple clicks. Pricing often feel arbitrary...

Are you complaining because the video was posted here or because it was made in the first place? Maybe this community doesn’t need it, but there are a lot of people out there with not much awareness of what’s happening in this realm.

Someone should tell that tardigrade that’s not where you position the bow when playing violin

Sure, but you are a sample size of 1. Consider the rest of the world. Reflect on reality dummy.
