Elon Musk just got “paid” $46 billion worth of stock in Tesla.

He should have to pay income tax on the value of the stock on the day he “took possession” of it.

In 3 years, he says something on Twitter to pump the stock, and dumps a lot of it. He should have to pay tax (capital gains?) on the additional value of the stock that he sells.

If the value goes down and he sells it, it’s a deduction.

You’re already familiar with Kodi, so install that on your Android TV. I have an Nvidia Shield with Kodi, and it just plays movies straight from my server. You should be able to use the TV’s remote to control Kodi without worrying about the VPN.

210 Palestinians reportedly killed during Israeli hostage recovery operation (thehill.com)

The bodies of 109 Palestinians including 23 children and 11 women were taken to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, and spokesperson Khalil Degran told the Associated Press that more than 100 wounded also arrived to the hospital. In addition, he said the rest of the 210 Palestinians killed were taken to Al-Awda Hospital after the...

Kansas Constitution does not include a right to vote, state Supreme Court majority says (apnews.com)

The Kansas Supreme Court offered a mixed bag in a ruling Friday that combined several challenges to a 2021 election law, siding with state officials on one provision, reviving challenges to others and offering the possibility that at least one will be halted before this year’s general election....

FTC Non-compete rule published in Federal Register (www.govinfo.gov)

The company I work for lost a MAJOR customer last fall. Management panicked, and rushed everyone to sign a non-compete agreement. Only after getting all the agreements signed did they let everyone know what had happened, and that there would be massive layoffs.

Fucking psychos had just gone through a huge hiring phase. Some new employees had only been there a matter of months before finding out they would lose their job, and wouldn’t be able to get a new one in the same industry unless they waited two years.

DemBoSain OP ,
@DemBoSain@midwest.social avatar

I’ve already had this argument with people I work with. It doesn’t matter if a non-compete is enforceable or not. They’re meant to demoralize and demotivate employees so they stay with the company at low pay. Someone that has just lost their job isn’t going to risk a potentially life-destroying lawsuit.

I know they would sue, because the process is the goal, and they have deeper pockets than I do.

The ONLY reason this is a law is because Michigan Democrats have the trifecta of House, Senate, and Governorship. Republicans are very salty about having to store their guns safely.

I’ve started buying sub rolls from a local bakery to make sandwiches. Recently I didn’t have any, so I used store-bought sliced bread.

They’re right. The bread is so soft and sweet it was like eating a ham sandwich made with two slices of cake.

NHTSA references several SAE standards in their regulations, but they don’t update the references very often, if ever. Many of the referenced standards date back to versions from the '70s and '80s. Back around 2012 I contacted SAE to find out if they provided a package of standards incorporated by reference in NHTSA regulations. I was told they don’t provide such a package, and they couldn’t even sell me the individual standards I needed because they were “out of date”. My only option through SAE was to buy the latest version.

Shortly afterwards Public.Resource.Org posted the standards, and I copied them. But I thought they had lost their court case.

Nice to find out I was wrong.

It hasn’t been published yet. The Federal Register lags behind real life by a few days. Probably on Friday, or possibly early next week.

Evidence abounds of regulators’ past failures to hold the industry to account for cleanup: hundreds of thousands — potentially millions — of so-called orphan wells that companies have walked away from and left to the government to plug.

This is fucking mind-boggling. START HOLDING CORPORATIONS RESPONSIBLE! Jesus Fucking Christ on a short-stack, this isn’t fucking rocket science.

I’ve heard if you drop a board member down each well before plugging it, that creates a good water-tight seal. Drop a CEO and they get air-tight real fast.

One of the arcades in the town I grew up in had one of these, for a short time. I never played it (I was young enough to not be interested) but saw some of the older kids playing it. Pretty soon afterwards my dad forbid (forbade?) me from that arcade, because he heard that’s where they sold “drugs”. I never made the connection until just now. Pissed me off, because that arcade had Robotron.

I just bought an MSI motherboard. The memory slots are labeled, A1, A2, B1, B2. So of course it makes sense that the first populated slot must be A2. Followed by B2. Then A1, and finally B1.

Make sure the memory is in the right slots.

Nobody ever mentions Firewalker as their favorite Lou Gossett Jr. movie. Is it because of Chuck Norris?
