I guess the next questions would be

  1. How fast? Really fast? Does this question even make sense?
  2. What does this say about the inside of the event horizon? Does it say anything? Is this black hole leaking real information?
  3. Is black hole spin quantized like quantum spin? Is it spin-up or spin-down?

I started with qbittorrent, and the built-in search engine. I just activated all of them using the automatic settings and it was great. But the search engine named Jackett never worked, so I wound up going here:

github.com/…/How-to-configure-Jackett-plugin

and after a bit I had it sorted out and working. Just make sure you follow the instructions step-by-step, and pay attention to the API key part. You don’t have to go anywhere to get a key or pay anything, it’s generated automatically.

Then I started looking into Sonarr. Since I had Jackett working, and Jackett will export Torznab links, transferring them over to Sonarr was pretty easy. Just copy the Torznab link and the API key into the Sonarr indexer settings, for each Jackett indexer you want to use in Sonarr. One thing I had an issue with was setting the content for each indexer, it defaults to some strange “5200”, “5400” tags for some reason. If it can’t detect the correct content, it won’t pass the test, and you can’t save the settings. I just opened up the content menu and clicked the box for everything, and then the test passed and the indexer was set up. It should be pretty straightforward after that. I had a few problems figuring out which settings and tags to use for each show (I like 4k UHD, but some shows are only 1080p, etc.) but I had things working nice after about a week.

I canceled Netflix, but I stayed on their mailing list so I know about new shows I might like to watch. My frigate is now a submarine that goes beep, beep. (it has sonarr, I guess would be the main point I’m trying to make here)

The new Amazon AI is going to be remarkably foul-mouthed. Every time it screws up (and it screws up a lot) I have to curse at it to make it shut up so it can hear the command again.

I’ve been following Scott Adams (The Dilbert guy. No, not Jim Davis. The Dilbert guy!) and this is obviously misinformation and a hoax. The only accurate news comes from X. If you still get your news from the leftist media, you’re being brainwashed.

(obviously sarcasm. Downvote me for following Adams, not for misunderstanding my sarcasm.)

I was so Happy (capital intended) when he was featured on Behind the Bastards. I didn’t think he was interesting enough to merit even one episode, but now the host is reading Scott’s books, and they are complete dogshit.

Scott’s rationalwiki entry is a joy to read.

I follow him on Twitter, and I like the things he says, because he’s such a crackpot. His crazy ass doesn’t really do much except tweet and draw some pretty unfunny cartoons. Sometimes the garbage he says almost gets me to respond, then I remember I’m not supposed to tap on the glass.

Alexa has a feature where you tell it you’re leaving the house and it will listen for smoke detectors or breaking glass, alerting you through your phone if it detects something. Amazon is putting that behind a paywall next year.

Can’t put a corporation in prison when they kill someone.

DemBoSain ,
@DemBoSain@midwest.social avatar

But you can’t. Corporations are formed specifically to protect the people behind them from legal accountability. The CEO/ board can really only be punished for crimes against the corporation (embezzling, not trying to make money for shareholders, etc.) Even when the corp. very obviously causes deaths, it will just declare bankruptcy and reform under another name. Johnson & Johnson was sued for killing people because there’s asbestos in talcum powder, so they spun off the talc division into a different company, and then had that company declare bankruptcy.

I loved my 3D monitor when playing games like Fallout NV and Skyrim, because I could just sit down, put on some glasses, and play the game as normal. But I can’t get used to wearing a heavy, hot, giant pair of goggles to play a game. Plus the learning curve was entirely unnecessary, and the lack of any straight 3D support for existing games is unforgivable.

Can I override Sonarr season numbers

I’m trying to finish grabbing a show, but Sonarr says the final season is #3, while the rest of the internet (i.e. torrent sites) says that season is #5. It looks like the first 2 seasons were split up into 1/2 seasons when originally shown. So while Sonarr is looking for Season 3, it’s finding the first half of what it...

Anti Piracy VP Says "Any Device" That Can Be Used To Infringe IP Should Be Made Illegal (reclaimthenet.org)

I once worked with a Puerto Rican. I’m not being racist, he literally couldn’t go more than an hour without reminding someone he was from Puerto Rico. He tried playing it like some kind of race card at least once a day. One time I heard one of my coworkers say loudly from across the room “No, being Puerto Rican has nothing to do with it. I don’t like you because you’re stupid.”

Why does lemmy have it, so any link takes you off the page instead of opening in a new tab or window?

It is a simple line of code and the entire site does this or add target=“_blank” to every hyperlink, and it will do the same thing. It sucks that you have to right-click every link to open in a new tab or window and it is such a simple fix.

DemBoSain ,
@DemBoSain@midwest.social avatar

How do I get all links on a specific website to open a new tab?

DemBoSain ,
@DemBoSain@midwest.social avatar

I have a greasemonkey script that does this on instances that support the “old” theme. I’m having trouble getting it to work on the default theme because target=“_blank” seems to work intermittently. Or I could be doing something wrong, I haven’t looked into it too deeply.

Remote or hybrid workers, would you rather work a 4 day week on site, or WFH completely for 5 days a week, for the same pay?

I know this will vary a lot, so hypothetically let’s say you currently WFH/work remotely at least 3 days a week. Your commute to work takes an hour max (door to door) each way. If you were given the choice of a 4 day week working onsite, or a 5 day week WFH (or as many days as you’d like) for the same pay, which would you...

I need to go into the office to be productive. I don’t begrudge anyone that wants to work from home, I wish it worked for me, but it doesn’t. During the pandemic I was 100% work-from-home and got very little done. I actually asked my boss how long it would be until we could go back to the office. Donkey-brains chose that time to upgrade the office furniture and shampoo the carpets. It was another month until the office was open. I went back, and it was heaven. There were very few people there. I could sit at my desk, listen to my music, and do whatever I needed. Don’t ask me what the difference was. Maybe I just have an affinity for flickering fluorescent tubes.

The Embraer Legacy 600 business jet with registration number RA-02795, which belonged to Yevgeny Prigozhin, was shot down by air defense fire in the Bologovsky district of the Tver region.

Initially, there were seven people on board. Before the plane crash, local residents listened to two bursts of characteristic air defense, and this is confirmed by contrails in the sky in one of the videos, as well as the words of direct eyewitnesses.

The information is being specified.

I used to design steering columns, and it’s really not as important as you think. In the event of an issue, the car will eventually come to a stop regardless of steering performance.

DemBoSain ,
@DemBoSain@midwest.social avatar

You’re getting downvoted but absolutely right. The pressure on engineers to reduce cost, weight, cost, cost, and weight is immeasurable. This should have been caught in PT testing, and also after the first recall, but mid-level managers are very willing to sign off on engineering changes if there’s any chance of reducing cost. And weight. But mostly cost.

DemBoSain ,
@DemBoSain@midwest.social avatar

crash testing is done between 35 and 40 mph. At those speeds the car is usually undrivable after the test. Over that speed you risk damage to very expensive test equipment.

Marijuana is legal in my state. All the empty businesses in town are now filled with pot stores.

My job does random drug testing. If they detect marijuana, that’s instant firing, no recourse (at will employment).

The idea that a job can dictate anything I do outside of work is deranged.

Charter just increased my bill, and now for $5 more I can get a fiber connection from the city. So that’s what I’m doing. They will provide a new modem for free (technically free, I suppose). I’m lucky enough to live in a place where they’re municipal competition, even though Charter has fought it repeatedly.

The one I have is Docsis 3 (maybe 3.1?), but I have no idea how fiber modems are categorized. Maybe I should look into that 😬 .

Can I make Lemmy open links in new tabs by default?

I don’t like the default of Lemmy opening links in the current window, because sometimes I open a few links at a time. And I dropped my mouse, it landed on the wheel, and the middle button is broken (I know, I know). But this seems like something that should have a setting somewhere anyway.

Only if you can put the license itself on the blockchain, and guarantee the blockchain is robust enough to last beyond Gamestop’s bankruptcy. Or survive past the day Gamestop decides they can make more money by destroying the current blockchain and “upgrading” the system.

DemBoSain ,
@DemBoSain@midwest.social avatar

I don’t think anyone can say that Gamestop will definitely be around longer than people want to use these licenses they sell. And I hope the license isn’t just a pointer to some Gamestop website that stores the licenses (re: standard NFT). But I don’t trust any corporation to do something like this without building in some sort of backdoor to revoke licenses. Especially Gamestop.

DemBoSain ,
@DemBoSain@midwest.social avatar

It doesn’t matter if the blockchain is eternal, if this is a traditional NFT, it isn’t stored in the blockchain. All you’re buying is a link to a website where the NFT is stored. It doesn’t matter if it’s a license key, or a shitty computer generated picture of an anthropomorphic ape. When Gamestop decides to shut down the server (it will happen eventually), you lose access to your license key. If Gamestop allows you to copy your license key, you still lose access to your software when Gamestop shuts down the licensing server. I’m not sure the technology works the way you think it works.
