No because it requires certain character traits they don’t have.

Not my fault. Nothing that happens is my fault if I don’t have the power to influence it.

My point being, people tend to say it’s “our” fault when they mean humanity, but it’s not. 99.9999% of humanity have no power.

There is a telegram Firefox addon? So weird.

Finally had enough of Windows. I'm packing up. I'm nervous!

Edit2: Writing this from Pop_Os! I had experience with Mint for my Self hosting rig and wanted to see other pastures. Decided to rearrange my three drives, two of them are still Windows, another I emptied and dedicated to Pop OS. That way I still have easy fallback to Windows if I need to do something fast and then I’ll know...

@1984@lemmy.today avatar

Absolutely pick Pop OS for your first distro and you won’t be disappointed. :) It’s easy to use and made by System 76 guys. Good looking and stable.

Just stop it with the racist card… Jesus. Shut up. So tired of this.

Switching between Sync and Boost right now. Both are excellent.

It’s 2023, I really hope people are not using the same password in multiple places. Password managers solved this problem a decade ago. Use one, with multi factor auth on important sites like email.

1984 ,
@1984@lemmy.today avatar

If you dont care, just give me your password then. :)

1984 ,
@1984@lemmy.today avatar

I tried putting the stars in there and it didn’t work!

:)

1984 ,
@1984@lemmy.today avatar

Yeah some sites also dont have passwords, they just send a login link to your email every time.

I prefer passwords so I don’t have to go to my email to log in, but I understand it’s easier for some people to do it that way. Your email address becomes your identity then.

1984 ,
@1984@lemmy.today avatar

There are yubikeys you can use to login, but it requires installing stuff on each computer you want to access. Nothing is simpler then passwords. :)

I used a yubikey for a while, they are alright, but I could only use it for logging on to a computer, not for logging into specific sites. Even though I guess that could be solved with a password manager integration.

Its relative. Horse shit is gold if you have a garden, people look for it and pay for it since it creates very fertile ground.

May Payne was a really fun game but I don’t have high hopes for it today. It’s too much politically correct bullshit everywhere that kills the fun. That being said, Baldurs Gate 3 showed the way to fun again.

There is nothing new and exciting coming out. I remember buying the first smart phone, that was really cool and exiting. Now they are like televisions, nothing exciting about them anymore.

My only contact with the lgbqt movement is here on Lemmy and they tend to be openly hostile here, so I just don’t post my questions. :)

Feels a bit like anger tantrums as soon as someone may have another opinion about things than they do.

Even a post like this may be seen as “hater”… Ok. :)

I’m sure we can trust what this young man says… :P

Why do all these articles sound like propaganda? They are all going for the emotional reaction to make people see Russia as the new enemy of the world. Are we being prepped for a new World War so bankers and elites can make more money?

Yesterday it was how Russia is raping 80 year olds.

Every new generation is this stupid I guess. I guess it’s no point explaining how propaganda works to you.

I click unsubscribe if they don’t make the sign in… If it’s too much work, I just put a mail filter. In thunderbird all this stuff is easy to do.

I also use fastmails multiple identities so I can just delete some identify that is getting spam. Problem gone.

One morning shower but we don’t have hot climate here.

1984 ,
@1984@lemmy.today avatar

Are you sure it’s the shower that is bad for your skin? People use so much soaps and shampoos and they never think that those could be the problem.

I would reduce the use of those products if you are a heavy user. The ads have made people think they need chemicals to become clean when hot water is enough.

I don’t think so. An ethical ceo is probably a disadvantage these days. We are quickly approaching a world that used to be sci fi. I’m glad I don’t have kids.

Amazon and Google are NSA fronts. You are just used to what you know. Our computers have chips in them made by Intel, with closed firmware. Our operating systems are made by Microsoft, Google and Apple.

I agree that it’s better to be under American spies than Chinese spies but it’s mostly the same idea of monitoring everyone and making sure they stay in line.

It’s possible your friend is just not trusting gene manipulated crops.

At the end of the day, each person can decide what to eat.

If he is normally very intelligent, I would listen to what he says. Intelligent people do have their own opinions.

How do I get informed on Joe Rogan without watching his videos.

I’m a bit concerned about how much my husband has been watching his videos, but he’s a hard man to argue with. I want to understand what it is Joe Rogan is saying, but I don’t want to give the man my viewership. How/where do I get the info I can use to debate my husband?

1984 ,
@1984@lemmy.today avatar

I’m sorry, but you are going to let someone else interpret what Rogan is saying for you, so you don’t have to watch his videos?

All you are doing is copying that person’s opinion about Rogan if you do that.

Watch the videos. Be an adult. Think for yourself.

Unbiased? Because a journalist is doing it, or how do you figure it’s unbiased?
