I’m reading this thread comments and it seems that Gen Z has decided that it can’t be their social skills - it must be the other older generation that is flawed.

Interesting.

Also a lot of comments how older generations have character flaws that do not exist in their own generation.

Even more interesting.

I guess gen Z is just the best generation so far, according to themselves. :)

We were here before when Internet Explorer 6 was the dominant browser.

It didn’t reduce the usage of IE. People just pick what they know in those screens.

I don’t know about you guys, but I’m giving up on public transport and going for a driving license.

Reasons include constantly late buses and trains, constant errors in signal systems and track systems, people talking loudly on phones or playing games on full volume, completely packed trains so people have to stand within centimeters of eachother.

Just got sick of all of it and realized I had enough.

It’s like with everything - trying to make maximum profits means quality goes to the bottom. I rather pay for fuel and cars and have my own car then deal with that shit anymore. I want to be happy, not sad.

Yep people who try to copy paste code without understanding it are not programmers.

Even though, I admit I do that myself with new languages. I tried to build a Rust async application and it worked but didn’t properly work… I just put code in there and got something running.

But now I went back and read the docs and realized I’m doing things wrongly.

You won’t have diversity of perspectives here… Entire instances are defederating rather than dealing with all the different opinions and the massive burden of moderating it.

But sure, you can still choose to be on some instance that allows all discussions, that’s a plus of the technology. But I don’t think people want that. They dont want to see what they don’t agree with. This is why they downvote things.

You kind of are. All large corporations have similar annoyances, but slightly different people and technologies. After a while (maybe 20 years of working for 10 different corps) it feels like you have seen it all, and it’s just mediocre crap everywhere.

It’s crystal clear that commuting is not part of the work day, but perhaps it should be.

Just like we should only work 6 hours so we can actually have some time after to do things we want, like hobbies or just enjoying time with friends.

Work is consuming people’s lives and entire identities.

Mods aren’t paid to moderate here and even though they should, I think almost everyone has a well paying job and a partner or family on the side that gets priority.

Also i think other platforms protected you from seeing what kind of opinions are out there in people. Just because mods clean it up on other platforms, it just means you don’t see it - but those opinions are still there.

So I don’t know, maybe I’m old fashioned, but I prefer seeing it than living in some illusion that it doesn’t exist.
