I’m just curious what value calling either of them those things brings to the conversation. Tell me. Which side are you on? Who are you voting for? You going rogue and voting third party? Or are you gonna vote for the cop or the felon? Or, maybe you aren’t gonna vote at all, you rebel. So, tell me. What’s your poison?
The value is pointing out how utterly hypocritical republicans are. Here they have a chance to vote for a cop over a felon, but they won’t. They’ll vote for the felon because they’re in a cult. They never were the “party of law and order” or the “party of personal responsibility”. It was all lies.
I’m not a fan of cops, but I’m even less a fan of felons. Especially rapist felons.
Well, at least your heart is in the right place. Maybe, though, you shouldn’t minimize the only chance this fucking country has at surviving the next 4 years by taking the reductionist view and calling Harris “a cop.” Just something to think about. Maybe she can be more if we give her the chance.
And I see you have a problem with people telling the truth about Donald Trump and calling them what they are.
How was the gay sex at the RNC? I hear Grindr had a hell of a time keeping up. Did you guys like, rent a penthouse suite and have an orgy or were you all just darting between hotels across Milwaukee? You should organize better next time, Democrats at least know how to schedule their sex parties so these sorts of things don’t happen.
You think these people supported defunding the police? You gotta take some time and learn what groups support what, cause you’re far off the mark. Ds are the choice because they’re harm reduction, not necessarily allies
Let’s not throw a vulnerable group of people under the bus just to be lazy in expressing the absurdity of the situation. I got no beef with felons just because the State labels them as baddies.
Caring that a former politician was almost assassinated isn’t feeding the trolls. Being bored by the very reasonable deluge of coverage of a former president nearly being assassinated is absolutely grim as hell man. Assuming the poster is American take some fucking interest in your life.
Being bored by political violence isn’t caring, sorry. Being bored by the rampant gun violence epidemic, being bored by the American death cult, these things are not caring.
I just woke up a few seconds ago, but my rationale was that we should not entertain a click driven media circus around this event, because for one thing it’s largely a case of self inflicted stochastic terrorism that is being incorporated into a horse race election by a media that wants nothing more than for this race to be as close as possible (if not outright favoring Trump). We gain nothing by letting this moment really shine for Trump, and we have everything to gain by moving on, hopefully back to talking about P45, the felonies, the countless lies, the several good things Biden has actually accomplished, etc. It would also please me deeply to have known that Trump had to deal with what he narcissistically experienced as the most heroic moment of his life, only to watch everyone collectively shrug.
I did not spell this all out in prior comments, for which I apologize. I can be self absorbed at times, and what is obvious to me is regrettably often not so to others. Please do not hold onto your previous surmise of me, I am just a grumpy jokey boy who is too fond of brevity.
All the forgoing is subject to hasty edits once I am upright and caffeinated.
Fair enough no hard feelings. The simple fact is we don’t know the motive. We assume but it could just as well be an obsessed fan (a la Selena) as a republican who thinks Trump isn’t extreme enough as a leftist who wants to take out a fascist. Those motives ascribe different responses. It’s also a little naive to think that you could just ignore an assassination attempt. I understand ignoring trumps day to day antics, but this is bigger than those.
It’s worth noting that Teddy Roosevelt was able to more or less ignore a much better attempt, and even call for the assassin to not be harmed. Though I suppose more resilience is expected of progressives. 🙃
Donald Trump is no Teddy Roosevelt. Not a tenth of the leader. Teddy Roosevelt was a flawed man, but an incredible leader, and he ignored every inconvenience or barrier in his life. Being shot was like a cloudy day or a hill: just push through, it’s irrelevant.
Reports that the president was later heard remarking to staffers that, in addition, it was also, “mega bodacious,” and “tubular to the max.” Unsubstantiated rumors follow that the president punctuated this statement with a “cowabunga.” More as this develops.
Sick has had this meaning since like… The 70s or 80s. Its not just edgy teens. In fact I suspect that this has probably fallen out of favor with gen alpha.
So if anything, I think you probably have that exactly backwards
It’s been around for a long time but you stop using it like that once you have a sliver of adulthood. The point being that no Biden did not use it as a double entendre.
I remember being in a hotel once, and scrolling through channels and saw a concert channel playing a Bruce Springsteen show. And he’s sitting at the piano doing a little monologue about the song, and he doesn’t say douche, but refers to a cover (the Manfred Mann version) and it using “feminine products” instead of deuce, which is what he wrote.
I don’t know what Manfred said, but even the Boss thinks he said douche.
So Bruce Springsteen wrote the original version of “Blinded By the Light”. But Manfred Mann’s version was the one that was a huge hit. And Mann’s version does say “wrapped up like a douche” (versus Springsteen saying “revved up like a duce”).
I saw an interview with Springsteen where he speculated that was the biggest writing mistake he’d made. If only he’d said “wrapped up like a douche”, maybe his version would have sold better.
It’s not about associating the brand with black people. Aunt Jemima was a mammy, straight out of a ministrel show. She was a racist stereotype of the loving and attentive house slave
No, she was an accurate depiction of actual Black Southern grandmas, both pre and post slavery. The whole “this represents slavery” thing was bullshit cooked up by white people. My 3rd grade teacher looked EXACTLY like Aunt Jemima and she made some bomb-ass cookies.
