I also hate players where the overlay doesn’t go away. My girlfriend still watches videos on Facebook sometimes, and when she sends them to me, it always drives me crazy. You can’t see like 30% of the video, often the part of the screen where the captions are
And you can hold down on the left-hand side of the screen to go to 2x temporarily, like YouTube does (but doesn’t do for shorts). I find that very convenient.
And a great way of making other good and innocent people self-conscious about their appearance. Making fun of someone’s looks doesn’t affect just that person.
Ah yes the vast demographic of people that look like Amy Schumer. We must defend them at all costs, because they might maybe be offended when someone makes fun of Amy Schumer.
Hi there! Looks like you linked to a Lemmy community using a URL instead of its name, which doesn’t work well for people on different instances. Try fixing it like this: !tvtoohigh

My guess is that at some point some poor web dev or web admin screwed up big time and with a heart rate nearing the colibri fluttered in panic above their laptop in attempts to restore the site, finding great relief that there was a snapshot in the archives and did not have enough presence to fix all the links to get it back online asap.
…and he didn’t think to download the files and host them properly instead? Surely this must be some kind of fallback or the user is actually browsing the internet archive, no?
Probably the production version of JS broke something on that page, getting the infrastructure team involved in “we now need to host multiple JS versions” was scary, especially if they fucked something up, so easier to modify the code on that page to point to the archive.org snapshot of the JS
They’re suggesting that they copied the HTML file, but that the archived one had modified references pointing to archive.org, which they did not notice and therefore didn’t change. So now the file fetches resources from the wrong place.
See, you may laugh but the landlord now knows that the water is still flowing, so the cause isn't an area-wide outage or a burst pipe, but instead there's a fault in the system that heats the water.
Nah most of the bible belt are baptists, evangelicals, and people who don’t even believe in Christianity but use it as a cover for their fascist bullshit. There is no universe where they would get along with Catholics. Having them be that close to the Catholics would probably result in another protestant vs catholic war.
US Catholics have adapted a lot of the beliefs from the protestant-oriented groups in the US. Try asking Paul Ryan or Rick Santorum if they accept the Vatican’s official stance on evolution and watch them squirm. Having the Vatican be right there would be . . . difficult.
Yeah where the fuck is the antisemitism? Fuckin dogshit takes that think one side is clean where the other isnt? Yeah, plenty of that. But antisemitism itself? I havent seen it
I am seeing some of it tbh. Antisemite shitbirds who think just because a lot of folks are (rightfully) mad at Israel, that they can sneak in their heinous philosophy. Go muddy some other waters with that bullshit, is what I say.
Although it sucked so much if you were downloading something like a large (for the time) game and had call waiting or someone picked up a phone in another part of the house. 3 hours down the drain.
Definitely, but there was a time before them. A dark and evil time when your world could be destroyed by a guy calling to sell gutter cleaning services.
I had one, I forget its name, but it was a firewall AND download manager. Bizarre combo if you ask me but it was pretty cool. Its logo was a lightning bolt I think.
That is kinda fucked up. Understandable though, peer pressure sure is a bitch sometimes. Making you do things you should have never done, all for the sake of getting that feeling of “fitting in”. Especially when you are not yet mature enough to even realise that what you are doing is bad.
