Well done. I hope more of the fediverse follows suit. Facebook has a long way to go to restore trust – if that’s possible at all. They’re nowhere near that threshold yet.
Personally I don’t think there is anything they could do gain trust short of undoing their data harvesting. Which would destroy them as a business entity/platform.
Agreed. And I just saw lemmy.world’s post explaining why they aren’t going to defederate until Threads messes up. Personally, I think that’s granting Facebook far too much benefit of doubt. I’d much rather belong to an instance that takes a wait-and-see approach before allowing Facebook to connect to its communities.
There’s no way to build, let alone restore, trust with that kind of business model. All behavior manipulation companies need to die. Their mere existence is unethical.
Worse, actually. My net at $58,000CAD got me $3,600/mo. If I wanted a simple 2bd today it would be now two thirds of my take-home. The friend who rents my guest bedroom has become my roommate over the last few months as they’ve been unable to find a place that’s even vaguely reasonable.
Maybe for some fucking dignity? Maybe because people deserve some life alongside their survival?
A working person who’s in their career should be able to afford more than a one bedroom apartment. That second room could be for hobbies, a work-from-home office, a guest bedroom, a library, whatever. And that’s just in an ideal situation but what if they’re a single parent(could be for any reason including something completely unavoidable like their spouse passing away for some reason) who needs a room for their child? And while I’m on about it, those people are a couple who would share a bedroom so then what? Pretty much every single person needs personal space away from their partner from time to time and the shared bedroom ain’t it.
Rich people don’t need boats or luxury vehicles yet they always seem to find excuses for that but having a 2bd apartment is considered irresponsible spending and that’s horseshit. It’s not the employee’s job to debase themselves in every aspect of their lives so someone who clearly can’t manage a business effectively can pretend they have any skill in doing so.
I lived with my parents, then I lived in a shared apartment, then I lived in a studio apartment, I had dignity and life. You don’t need 3 rooms per person, you don’t need a yacht, you don’t need servants. If you can afford them good for you, but holy privilege demanding that as if it was a bare necessity.
Congrats for you. Here’s the thing, the reason we can’t all have enough to be comfortable isn’t because life is hard, it’s because the resources are kept from us by thieves we hilariously call “elites”.
I’m sorry that I want a better life than scraping by. I’m sorry I don’t love the taste of boot the same way you do. I’m not asking for a mansion you fucking donut. I didn’t ask for servants or yachts or any of that shit. I’m asking for literally one more room and for good reasons which I have already outlined. If you can’t win the argument without completely making shit up then accept the loss and back down.
We are earning it. This generation is the most productive one ever and yet all the value we create is being increasingly funnelled to executives who do next to nothing.
Wages are stagnant as hell and rent and shit is going up by astronomical amounts even for units that haven’t really changed operating costs in years just because.
Quit sucking boot and stand up for yourself, damn. The rich aren’t going to reward you for this.
That’s great, dude. Why you gotta be such a spiteful little bitch towards everyone else? The information on why not everyone has those opportunities is out there so really you’re either trying to defend a corporation’s right to fuck ocer employees or you’re genuinely so stupid and emotionless as to not understand how any of this works or care to learn at all.
And oh wow, a whole house, eh? Sounds kinda greedy. What’s next, a mansion? Four cars? Seriously, some self-awareness would god a long fuckin’ way here, dude.
Yeah, a whole house. And you didn’t find me complaining why two bedroom apartments were so expensive when I was single. Just the one car, since public transport is quite good around here. Thanks for asking.
here in sweden most cities have some amount of municipal housing, where you can get a family-sized apartment for like $1200 equivalent, or a studio apartment for $300-400
it’s almost like socialism works, and it works so fucking well that they have to legally restrict the municipal housing from being more than like 17% of the housing supply lest it nuke all private landlords from orbit
Very interesting sentiments, very agreeable, but if this were one of my patients I would be quick to redirect the conversation away from “society is wrong” into “You’re realizing that you believe this is your path”. Generalizations like that do us no good. If it’s about YOU, then make it about YOU. If someone is dismissing YOU based on this stuff, talk about how that person’s words affect YOU.
I bet $100 that this person recently had a conversation with someone where this kind of language was used. Or, maybe more likely, they saw some random irrelevant bullshit on the internet from a stranger and extrapolated messages about an entire culture from it. The culture is YOU TOO, buddy!
A fair point. However, reading the OP back, it seems to me that they aren’t dismissing “forever” as success. They are only stating that its not the only acceptable definition of it.
The way i see it, some things that require never-ending commitment to be deemed a success and others don’t, but that’s not how society sees it in general.
I think messages like the one in the post are a good thing to read and think about how they apply to your own life.
But... Uh... Do you really need all this credit card data and my banking password to show me more accurate search results? Sounds like a pretty convoluted tech to me... Well, who am I to question Google, right? There you go.
The awnser is a firm no. Cheaters have moved to hardware based cheats with DMA boards. On valorant some cheaters have started exploiting remote play services to use machine vision based aim bots. Neither of those two methods can be detected by a kernel level anti cheat.
And now they have more fun working with hardware than software. No needing to reverse engineer the game either since you’re just processing display output and executing inputs on separate hardware like an Arduino or Raspberry Pi
With DMA based cheats I disagree as if you were developing a DMA based cheat you would still need to understand how the game works so you can figure out what memory adresses are for what part of the game.
I hear you but it’s far more likely for a woman to track her own period than for a nearby man to track it. You’re the reason this professor felt the need to give this example. Because men assume all progress and intellectual pursuits were obviously sought by men. You guys think it’s the automatic default, and even the suggestion that a woman might have accomplished something is met with, “hey! It could have been a man!”
There’s some faulty reasoning here.
Parent comment challenges the assumption that the marks were made by a female, and you say “you’re the reason the professor felt the need to give this example”, although the example was given in order to challenge assumptions of gender.
OP is actually learning from the example if anything, since they are challenging gender assumptions.
On top of that, your use of “you guys”, and your generalisations about men are evidence of the exact type of biased thinking this example is trying to challenge.
That’s not right at all! Ask customer service what they think and post their response.
The most frustrating thing about S&S for me is that the prices fluctuate wildly from delivery to delivery. I have to waste so much time combing through my subscriptions every time a new one is about to ship, just to make sure I’m not paying extra that week.
Eventually, I ended up having to cancel it all after a few times when I couldn’t double-check and ended up paying more for a few items.
I found it better to simply set up a price alert, and buy non-urgent things when they are at a low price, stocking some extra if necessary.
I find it cheaper and more effective to subscribe and use the initial coupon (usually 25% off), then immediately cancel the subscription after they ship it. Most likely there will be another coupon next time I need the product
The only thing I had as a really reocurring subscription was my cat’s kibble but then I noticed that on some deliveries the price was considerably higher so I switched to buying it at the store market
Chewy is amazing. Price is very consistent and customer service is scary good. I once ordered food for my cat while sitting eating dinner. The next morning at 6am I opened my door to go to work and literally tripped over my cats food. I still have no fucking clue how the hell it got to me so quick, it was 12ish hours. When I moved and switched my auto subscription their system flagged my change of address as fraud and emailed me to call customer service. I called at literally 3am (because I’m a freakish night owl) expecting to work my way through an automated system and the phone rang twice and a very cheerful person answered. I almost hung up in shock and then almost was the jerk calling at 3am asking “why are you answering the phone at 3am?”

Does that actually work without raising any red flags on their end?
yup, no issues at all. that’s how i get cheap syrup for my soda stream, every time. the last time it was more than half off, so i bought 5x my normal amount and cancelled the subscription, and then my prime account.
EDIT: That was a bust :( Most of the flavours don’t give the option for S&S, and the ones that do only give a discount on future deliveries (only 5%), not the current one. This is Amazon Canada, so… 😭
I tried doing subscribe and save when they first introduced it, but it doesn’t lock in a price, and if it’s out of stock one month when it’s time to ship, it just cancels the whole thing even if it’s back in stock a week later. And the discount isn’t even that great. Frankly the whole program is shit imo and I’m amazed it’s still so shitty however many years later.
I followed up with customer support. They said go ahead with the order and they will refund me the amount after. They gave me a $5 credit for my trouble. They said they would escalate this issue to the development team.
That’s one way to test if he had somehow gained the power to become bulletproof, I suppose. It might have worked better if they could at least aim straight though:-P.
A pig mag dumped into his police cruiser when an acorn fell on its hood cause they thought it was a gunshot. There was someone under arrest in the back of said cruiser.
Then his partner mag dumped into the same cruiser as well when nutbag kept insisting he was hit.
The partner at least asked “where where!?” a few times, but she still just empted a magazine into the same car a handcuffed, unarmed suspect was locked up in.
Luckily both shitbergs couldn’t aim for shit and missed the guy with like 30 rounds.
In his partners defense, her perspective was he was calling shots fired, shooting at his own car, and on the ground saying he was hit, in her shoes I would of probably shot at the car too.
I agree to a point, but you should still not fire wildly ever, especially in a populated area.
If she could not find a target, she should not have shot the gun. Even suppressing fire requires knowing in general what youre shooting at. In this case, she should have dragged her partner to cover, called in the “attack” and maintained sight lines, looking for the danger. No bullet should have left her gun.
Acorn boy needs to be prosecuted for gross neglect and maybe even attempted manslaughter. I think she needs to be fired for poor judgement.
