The stupidest thing about it is that the name is based on some imagery from the film for The Wall by Pink Floyd which very much made the point of “Fascism bad”
Absolutely, but that’s the myth they’re pushing. Really what is going on here is, if remote work became the norm, suddenly all these companies would have huge empty offices that nobody wants to buy because everyone would be trying to offload their unnecessary office space. In the short term, a small productivity hit is nothing compared to multi-million dollar real estate instantly having its value slashed in half.
It’s incredibly short sighted decision making only if you assume the leadership actually cares about the company. When you have a golden parachute guaranteeing you escape the companies implosion unharmed, there’s no reason to think about the long term, you can just keep stacking short term profit shit up and glide away safely when it finally collapses.
It’s my fault guys, just the other day I was thinking of how they had never raised the subscription price (in my country), unlike Netflix, which felt like they were raising it every year.
I don’t think it was even that it was rich people.
We recently had the mystery disappearance of Nicola Bulley in the UK that got huge media attention because everyone was playing detective; we’ve had similar media frenzy over the Chilean miners, the Thai footballers in the cave, the RAF lad who disappeared on a night out (it’s thought he climbed into an industrial bin)…
The common thread is that everyone can speculate on whether the subjects will survive or not. ‘Migrant boats sinks’ stories are focused on too many nameless people and the outcome is too easily predicted for a media frenzy and workplace discussions. People love a bit of speculation.
As a nurse this bandage trump showed up with looks totally like it is for show only. I would bet real money, that no healthcare professional was near this bandage and it was probably a PR person who sticked stuck this on him.
Can’t wait to see some daring journalist ask Trump in a filmed interview to see the scar. I assume Trump will classify that under the “that’s too personal” category of lies he doesn’t want to defend.
Normally I’d say that if you empower the state to execute a certain class of person you can look forward to the state changing that definition so that inconvenient people who did nothing wrong meet it, but I’m unlikely to be mistaken for someone who has committed 10s of billions of dollars in fraud and I can’t help but feel like maybe if just one robber baron is held responsible for the enormous suffering they cause in pursuit of an amount of wealth so vast that it can never be spent and essentially only functions as a high score then the rest will realize that there is the sharp, distinct possibility that they can be held responsible as well.
“The shortest-reigning monarch was Lady Jane Grey who ruled for 9 days from 6 July until 15 July 1553 (although she was only proclaimed queen by the Lords of the council on 10 July). Her husband Lord Guildford Dudley was her consort for the entire reign, making this the shortest tenure of the male consort of a female monarch. Note: Jane’s reign is disputed.
The king with the shortest definitively known reign was Edgar the Ætheling who ruled for 2 months, 12 days in 1066 before submitting to William the Conqueror. Some records indicate that Sweyn Forkbeard reigned for only 40 days in 1013–4.[7]”
Queen Elizabeth II died 9/8/2022, so Charles has already been in 514 days. He’s good…
My friends had a CI wear a wire for a fucking weed sale, but they were watching Archer at the time he was there to pick up. Led to some hilarious questions from idiot cops.
