Telegram Removes Z-Library Posts 'Due to Copyright Infringement' * TorrentFreak (torrentfreak.com)

Telegram, an essential communication tool for millions, finds itself under scrutiny once again. Copyright holders have long expressed concerns about the lack of enforcement on the platform, and recent actions suggest Telegram is responding. Subscribers to Z-Library’s popular channel recently noticed that several of the shadow...

Entirely depends on how you like your racers. Ones super arcad-y and ones more of a simulator.

Plex allows this as long as you set whatever devices local IP on the allow without authorization list. I also know that plex just gets shit on the fediverse. Jellyfin doesn’t have local allowance baked in? I’ve never used it.

@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

I’ll prolly give it a shot at some point. I bought lifetime plex long before jellyfin was a thing. Is there an experience similar to plexamp? It’s too good.

What? I’m confused by the question the OP asked if it’s just automatically that way.

Bots are running rampant. How do we stop them from ruining Lemmy?

Social media platforms like Twitter and Reddit are increasingly infested with bots and fake accounts, leading to significant manipulation of public discourse. These bots don’t just annoy users—they skew visibility through vote manipulation. Fake accounts and automated scripts systematically downvote posts opposing certain...

It’s a real issue. It’s amazing they allow it like it is now.

Welcome to Kagi, the paid search engine full of surprises, which today opened an account in the Fediverse!

@fediverse

@kagihq is the very interesting project for a paid search engine, without tracers and with an accuracy in identifying results such as to exclude all Google spam.

Those who believe that 's costs are too high, should reflect on a small detail: if Google lets all those searches be done "for free", who pays those costs? The answer might seem simple: "advertisers".

Yet this would be an incomplete answer: like saying that rain is caused by clouds!

In reality, those costs are paid by users, by being milked and letting Google extract their "value", a bit like in the human farm in Matrix...

We first heard about Kagi on the @lealternative website (unfortunately, since then the prices have increased a lot, raising many doubts about the sustainability of the project) and recently Cory Doctorow also talked about it on @pluralistic

In any case, we are really happy that a service like Kagi's, effective and respectful of users' privacy, has landed here in the .

Every complaint I’ve heard about the owner has been ridiculous. I don’t know about the bigotry though. It’s better and has been since it wasn’t hip if it’s actually hip now. I’m swapping between it and my own searxng instance.

What's up with all those spam bots lately in the youtube comment section?

For a few months now, these bot comments seem to be appearing more and more frequently. Always with a profile picture of a model making innuendos, accompanied by a generic comment praising the video and practically always adding some kind of emoji. Is this some new scam or is it just the current generation of spambots as per...

Pretty common practice with leaked login info. Also generally they’ll email bomb you after ordering to try to hide the order email. They’ll even try hitting every site imaginable with the same combo. This is why I love “hide my email” with Apple. Different generated emails and passwords for everything with a tap.

Change your macys account to a different email.

[Solved] (The bug remains, alternative solution found, will soon update the post) Deemix can no longer download spotify playlists

Yesterday, after this conversation with Wild Bill, we concluded that Deemix can’t download songs from spotify playlists. It does recognize the songs in the playlists, but somehow it fails to download them and reports cannot read properties of undefined (reading ‘flac’) (on Bill’s pc it only reports cannot read properties...

I use the web UI version and the only way it works is by going into the playlist and hitting the select all checkmark box, then hit download all selected or whatever the button says.

willya ,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

Yes it runs on windows and there’s a portable version. No install needed. Just a double click.

willya ,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

Add the playlist to your profile on Spotify and it should add to your playlists tab where you can do the checkmark all option.

How is Lemmy better than Reddit?

I am a reddit refugee. Keep seeing that this is supposed to be somehow better than Reddit. As far as I can tell, it follows a similar format, less restrictive on posts being removed I suppose. But It looks like people still get down vote brigaded on some communities. So I’m curious, how it’s better?

willya ,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

You’ll find more people who you can relate to on Reddit if you’re a fairly normal person. Lemmy is still small and mostly an echo chamber as everyone shares the same opinions. Most of us simply came here because of the API issues.
