Despite me not eating meat, I can see this being tasty – as long as the bottom of the cake is not chocolate and the quark is not very sweet

And posts like this one alienate them even further and simply confirm what they’re told, that the educated elites hate them

If we all respected that rule from all sides, we’d have a lot less unnecessary hatred and death.

You’re addressing wrong people with that

Side of bed debate - Which side is left?

Which side of the bed is the left side? Is the answer based on the perspective of laying in the bed (person’s head at the head end)? Is the answer based on viewing it from the foot of the bed, looking at the head of the bed? Is there an “anatomical position” or special terminology like in boating for this?...

nudnyekscentryk ,
@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

Obviously the perspective of lying on the bed face-up. Though I may be biased because our bed is next to the window (feet side) so you can’t look at it form the foot of the bed – either from the side or behind our heads

The “empty” half of the plug (with the two hollow squares) is either at the top or on the right in 99% of cases. Once you realize that you barely ever have to flip it even one time.

nudnyekscentryk ,
@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

Plug is on the male part on the cable. Receptacle is the female part on the device

@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

Exactly

nudnyekscentryk ,
@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

I’m European but I’m an English second language speaker, so that may be the reason I use this words that way. However wikipedia for example calls the male part the plug and the female the receptacle as well

I think the point is they copyrighted these symbols as part of their branding, just like their logo, so in the context of games and game controllers

I never understood the point of lawyers. Their job is to literally throw off the court in the process of determining the truth and choosing punishment for crime. For everyone else this would be another crime called “obstruction of justice”, and yet for lawyers it’s their actual job that courts allow.

I have a 3.5mm jack in my phone and I haven’t used it once for the past two or three years I have used this device. I switched to a pair of tws Bluetooth earbuds in 2019 (around, but definitely pre-covid) and have used the same pair since. Everyone who claims Bluetooth earphones are unrecyclable electric garbage probably have never gotten a proper pair (which doesn’t have to be expensive whatsoever) or any at all

nudnyekscentryk ,
@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

Hmm, why need dark mode in VLC? You launch a video file and watch it full screen anyway. Also, VLC has themes and last I checked there were couple of them which were sufficiently dark

If I were to only use legal sources of media, then I would stick with either Apple TV or HBO Max (yeah it’s still called that where I live). Otherwise I recommend Cloudstream for Android TV

I thought everyone disappeared and the guy from the first picture was the only person left. The speech bubble also seemed to come from him just behind the horizon

When you consider the time as a number line, years are not points at integers (which would in some way warrant a year 0), but rather periods between them. Year 1 is the period between 0 and 1, and before that was -1 to 0, or year -1. There is no year 0, because there isn’t anything between 0 and 0

nudnyekscentryk , (edited )
@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

the idea that the year 2000 is the start of the 21st century is hurting my head.

That may be because it is not. The first century was years 1 to 100. The second was 101 to 200. The 21st is therefore 2001 to 2100.

What you’re probably referring to is the “cultural century” which was considered to have started when the lead digit changed from 1 to 2. The same thing happened quite recently when some people argued 2020 was the start of a new decade (again, it wasn’t)

nudnyekscentryk ,
@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

For the same reason why 1.5 is on the right from 1 but -1.5 is on the left from -1

nudnyekscentryk ,
@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

So in your idea there would be year +0 and year -0 before it, right?

nudnyekscentryk ,
@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

There are decades and there are decades. Just like there are weeks (period between Monday and Sunday inclusive) and weeks (any seven consecutive days).

When you say “I’ll do this next week”, then you mean the next period between Monday and Sunday. When you say you’ll do it in a week, it means you’ll do it after exactly 7 days from now, regardless of what day is it today. Same for decades.

Isn’t it moreso to support the dev easily?

nudnyekscentryk ,
@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

noone ever does – Microsoft, Google and Facebook must be faking their reports on how effective their advertisement platforms are in order to boost their sales. the sales of ads, not the advertised products

nudnyekscentryk ,
@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

There are certain lightweight products which don’t require weighting or putting them in the bagging area at all, like spices or bath sponges. These would be perfect for any% speedrun of Groceries since they don’t ever require an employee to verify discrepancies

nudnyekscentryk ,
@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

I don’t know what kind of shit you guys buy, but I have used one single pair of Bluetooth tws earbuds since pre-covid and never looked back to wired which, at least in my experience, are the ones more prone to breaking

Edit: and it’s not like I got Apple airpods or anything, they are haylou gt1 that I paid like 25$ for in 2019 or 18

Edit2: and yes I do have a micro jack in my phone which I have not used once for the three years I have had this phone

nudnyekscentryk ,
@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

It’s not about how much you spend, but rather what you spend it on

nudnyekscentryk ,
@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

And I suppose you can’t see how replacing cables is producing e-waste regardless, unlike buying one proper pair of Bluetooth earphones and using it for many, many years without replacing any part of it whatsoever?

nudnyekscentryk ,
@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

The more they claim they know about you the more they can charge for ads. I have recently realized that Google, Facebook and such are not only powerful because they aggregate data, but rather because they can sell their product (=your attention) to other companies very, very well. People often claim companies would not pay for advertisements had they didn’t work — I claim otherwise; they pay for advertisements because Google falsely claims how effective they are and that’s why they need to collect your data and be able to show that to their customers to boost their (Google’s) sales. In other words they don’t do that to sell the customers product well (the one that has been advertised) but rather sell their own product, which is ad space.

Google Podcasts is gone — and so is my faith in Google (www.theverge.com)

The Podcasts app is just the latest product to go through a process I’ve come to call The Google Cycle. It always goes the same way: the company launches a new service with grandiose language about how this fits its mission of organizing and making accessible the world’s information, quickly updates it with a couple of neat...

Edit: my other issue with antennapod is being unable to listen to an episode of a podcast without subscribing. You have to subscribe. Even to open the podcast page you have to subscribe.

You can and it’s called Previewing, just under the episode info when looking through the podcast catalogue or search results

It is the best one available, but unfortunately lacks some basic features like autodownloading enqueued episode (you can either auto download everything or nothing at all)

It is, but Apple being Apple, they are going all malicious compliance and will break evening else for non-Safari browsers lol

Also this only applies in EU. To use 3rd party apps stores you won’t be able to leave the EU for more than 30 days at a time as well
