Death penalty to those who deal drugs would have the potential to be the biggest shitshow of all time. Just think. Trump permanently undos all marijuana legalization progress and then goes after everyone who’s ever worked in the industry to sentence them all to death. Marijuana reform isn’t a very important political issue to most people. The average person probably doesn’t even know if weed is legal where they live or not. Public outcry won’t be enough to stop this from happening if that’s the route the Republicans choose to go.

Windows ME didn’t have the ability to automatically install USB drivers and it was fucking bullshit even back then.

You can’t install a flash drive driver if you need the flash drive in order to transfer the driver to the computer, everything is always 0.1mb too large for a floppy drive so CD has to be burned which is clunky and stupid and time consuming.

I sold my switch that I stupidly bought when they first came out. People are still buying them and I got more than I expected. Switches with lower firmware numbers are probably worth more money due to jailbreaks and stuff but I didn’t research switch mods or anything.

I don’t think that replacing order taking positions is stealing anyone’s job, in fast food at least. I worked at a fast food joint one time. We were always shorthanded and we always had to do order taking while doing a bunch of other things. It was such bullshit. From an overworked employee perspective, if there was any way to get out of doing drive through orders while doing all my other tasks, I would be happy to use it.

Starfield could have been a way better game if all they did was fuck it up like 45% less. They could have alternatively just delivered on their promises of making the game easy to mod and let the community handle the rest but they fucked that up too. Only the most dedicated of Starfield fan would have the patience to sit down and do all the shit it takes to add a new quest for example. Iirc even Skyrim came with a mod editor with ui that was easy to understand. Right now all we have is a community xedit project that’s somehow even harder to run on Linux than Starfield is.

There was this editor that let you make esm files. I can’t remember if it was already in the game folder or you had to download from steam but it must not have been hard to set up. I remember using it to make one of the buyable houses really big on the inside.

If you haven’t found one you like yet, consider trying Debian. It’s basically the same as Ubuntu, everything works the same on Debian as in Ubuntu but it’s better because of less bloat.

Due to a slower update schedule, it may be worse at steam proton gaming than arch or something with a rolling release because that stuff heavily depends on how up to date your mesa or Nvidia drivers are. I can play everything except Starfield on my Ubuntu 22.04 laptop pretty much.

There is a command line program called tesseract that does image to text generation. It produces plaintext from a picture of text. I didn’t look into exactly how it works but iirc, image to text that’s actually good and accurate needs ai shenanigans.

Remember how smartwatches were a big deal and now no one cares? That’ll probably happen with ai. Hopefully in 10 or so years whatever losses corporations suffer when all the money they’ve invested goes to waste will help the common person somehow. My pc can run modern games more or less but only if I remove the side panel which prevents the voltage regulators on my graphics card from getting so hot it overheats the vram.

Not sure if they could get the Arizona TSMC plant to cooperate or even keep it operational once said war happens, but that’s an option too. Every time I’m hearing about that plant it’s just more problems and delays but who knows.

On a lighter note, I can’t wait for some Russian made 2025 486s with clock multipliers higher than 4x to start popping up on ebay. It’ll go with my retro gaming setup nicely.

I like Atril too. It has easier and more fluid zoom in/out capabilities than Okular but Okular has a dark mode. I keep both installed because they’re both really good.

Can anyone help me with a problem with Photoshop on Linux (Lutris) (feddit.nl)

I managed to get Photoshop CS6 installed on Lutris, using the script on their site. The problem is however, that whenever I open a file (doesn’t matter if it is jpg, png, psd, etc.) the screen remains black. I can see the picture in the Layer thumbnail, but not in the main work-area. Does anyone know what the problem might be?...

I’ve never used Lutris but I know cs4 can work in wine, I’ve done it before. (I use Gimp now before anyone points out that I should be using Gimp instead). The method I’ve found for manually getting random wine stuff to work is as follows:

Step 1. Get winetricks and figure out how wineprefixes work.

Step 2. Scroll through the winetricks dll menu, make an educated guess on what library to try installing and install it. Direct x and netframework are often the first things I try but c++ runtimes are important too.

Step 3. Try the program after installing the thing you guessed it needed. If it works better than before, go back to step 2 and repeated until the program works correctly. If its borked so badly it doesn’t even start, delete the wineprefix, go back to step 2 and pick different dlls.

Pro-tip: test your program by running it in a terminal instead of double clicking an icon. Sometimes when it crashes, it leaves behind useful information such as “error: missing mscorefonfs” or whatever in which case you should see if the thing it’s complaining about is in your winetricks dll menu.
