It is not, there are actual colour categories at the top of the page which allow you to filter by thumbnails. This is what the Red page looks like for me:

This is a necessary reminder that Ecosia is a scam:

  • they don’t “plant trees” but rather contribute very little amounts to existing programmes
  • "Every search plants a tree" is a lie. It’s not every search, but rather every couple clicks on an ad
  • They use Bing results making them useless

If you’re using Ecosia with an adblocker or knowingly skip over sponsored results then you are NOT in any way contributing to the tree-planting

they are not “clear about that”. I can see they removed it now but for the longest time the main page had a banner saying “every search plants a tree” and also an actual counter which went up by one every time you made a search – which was misleading, because it wasn’t every “search”, because you would have to click on an ad, and it wasn’t “every”, because it took several clicks on an ad to actually contribute an equivalent of a tree

Wait he was handed live gun, which was supposed to fire blanks and yet it’s him getting charged and not the propmaster. what the fuck? what am I missing?

nudnyekscentryk , (edited )
@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

According to a Wikipedia article on the incident it was the armorer that had previous experience with accidental discharges of firearms and I guess it’s the mere point of their presence during filming to make sure all guns are handled safely. Their job was to hand a safe gun to the actor, they didn’t do it and a person died. I don’t fucking see one reason to charge the actor, regardless of whether they happen to be a producer or not, and not charge the person actually responsible for the accident.

nudnyekscentryk ,
@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

It has to be someone’s job to make sure guns on set are safe

nudnyekscentryk ,
@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

Ok but you have an expert saying “this gun will fire blanks when you pull the trigger, I loaded them, nobody else can touch the gun except me and you under my supervision. When the camera starts rolling in a bit you’re going to point it at that person and fire the blanks in accordance with the script. After the scene ends you hand the gun back to me because nobody else is allowed to touch it”

And not only that, but also producer (David Halls), whose job was to double check the armorer’s preparation of the gun, confirms it is safe. I think people claiming this was in any way Baldwin’s fault are taking a piss

nudnyekscentryk ,
@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

Exactly. Safety comes in layers and therefore assistant producer David Halls was supposed to double check the gun after the armorer prepared it. He failed at it, the armorer failed at their job and it’s theirs and only theirs fault.

nudnyekscentryk ,
@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

Perhaps because Baldwin, as far as we know, did everything correctly? He had the armorer prepare the gun and assistant producer check it. The armorer failed to do it correctly and the assistant producer failed at their part of the job. They are guilty of the accident, because they did not follow the procedure required, not the person who gave them the task

nudnyekscentryk ,
@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

I’m basing what I say on the Wikipedia article and the two years old Legal Eagle video, but it seems it wasn’t his negligence, but rather the armorer’s and the assistant producer’s:

According to a search warrant, the guns were briefly checked by armorer Gutierrez-Reed, before assistant director Halls took the Pietta revolver from the prop cart and handed it to Baldwin.[39][40] In a subsequent affidavit, Halls said the safety protocol regarding this firearm was such that Halls would open the loading gate of the revolver and rotate the cylinder to expose the chambers so he could inspect them himself. According to the affidavit, Halls said he did not check all cylinder chambers, but he recalled seeing three rounds in the cylinder at the time. (After the shooting, Halls said in the affidavit, Gutierrez-Reed retrieved the weapon and opened it, and Halls said that he saw four rounds which were plainly blanks, and one which could have been the remaining shell of a discharged live round.)[41] In the warrant, it is further stated that Halls announced the term “cold gun”, meaning that it was empty.[39] Halls’s lawyer, Lisa Torraco, later sought to assert that he did not take the gun off the cart and hand it to Baldwin as reported, but when pressed by a reporter to be clear, she refused to repeat that assertion

Btw, holy fucking shit I hate lawyers

nudnyekscentryk ,
@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

How does this even apply to the situation?

nudnyekscentryk ,
@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

who did not enforce any safety standards (allowed crews to bring live ammo to the set, allowed armourer to be subpar), and ended up with one of his staff dead.

And you’re basing these two claims on?

nudnyekscentryk ,
@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

If you hired a professional armorer to handle guns safely and then have had assistant producer check it and confirm the gun is safe then I imagine you would have assumed it actually is.

nudnyekscentryk ,
@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

Your comment, if anything, proves it’s the AD who’s responsible

nudnyekscentryk ,
@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

Baldwin could very well be the armorer’s direct supervisor and father and it still would be her and the ADs fuck-up the gun shot a live round.

She was hired for the sole purpose of making sure all guns on set are handled safely and she simply failed: the shooting is her fault and I’m sure despite all of us getting riled up in the comments this in fact will be the final verdict

nudnyekscentryk , (edited )
@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

No it doesn’t. If I cut the brakes in your car and it causes you to run into someone, then it’s my fault, not yours.

Edit: you know who else could be found viable? The service person who checked the vehicle before you took it on the road and allowed it through despite nonfunctional breaks.

nudnyekscentryk ,
@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

No it’s not, stop playing dumb. A gun seller’s job is to sell guns. Even if a potential school shooter buys one, the gun seller has done their job. Who failed perhaps is the person who issued a gun license to a potential school shooter, but then you can make a case of whether potential school shooters can be detected before the act.

An armorer’s job is to make sure guns on set are handled safely. A revolver which was under her supervision has not been handled safely, and as far as we know it was her and precisely her mistake that left the live bullet inside the barrel, therefore she failed at her job and is culpable for the death. This in no way compares to a gun seller.

nudnyekscentryk ,
@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

I couldn’t give less shits about him in particular, because being non-american I have never heard of him before I saw this particular meme on Lemmy.

I just wish to believe at least in the justice system in the US. I’m still skeptical about the Rittenhouse verdict but if the fucking armourer isn’t found guilty and Baldwin is instead, then this just confirms your system is broken.

nudnyekscentryk ,
@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

And someone’s job is to control that this person does their job properly. Which is the someone’s boss who delegated the task.

Yep, AD David Halls’.

@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

Kinda. They could suspend warranty if you don’t use the vehicle as intended.

And the same should apply to mobile devices: lock me out of your ecosystem, deny updates, suspend warranty, I don’t care but simply let me root, unlock bootloader, sideload, jailbreak and all that nice stuff.

Persistent notification for some ongoing processes, such as downloads, torrenting clients, VPN services, all sorts of synchronisation, weather, DND, bedtime mode, battery monitors etc.

I in particular liked to use it with Tasks.org client for non-dismissable reminders, so that they stayed in the notifications bar until I mark them done. This way I would never accidentally dismiss a reminder for a chore until I specifically completed it.

nudnyekscentryk OP ,
@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

There used to be an extra switch for linked or unlinked notification+ringer volume. You could use whatever work for you. Now they force you to use separate, which I believe is worse in every way.

Yeah, you can change the launcher, but unfortunately no Android 14 launcher supports smooth gesture navigation or Quickswitch module.

nudnyekscentryk OP ,
@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

If you have Android 13 rooted then you can use Quickswitch module for smooth gesture navigation.

nudnyekscentryk OP ,
@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

I use AOSP and it’s there.

Sure, fair point, but some notifications are better persistent

It was always combined for me. In fact there used to be a switch to link or unlink them.

nudnyekscentryk OP ,
@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

They had a very specific and useful purpose: notify of ongoing processes. Some apps using them wrong sucked, I agree, but since we have already got a lot of customisation for notifications on a per-app basis then perhaps this should be a customizable thing as well

nudnyekscentryk OP ,
@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

Especially since Android 12 or 13 all app notifications require a permission in the first place

nudnyekscentryk OP ,
@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

mate, I am fully aware I can do that, but then I am say at work, where it gets loud at times, and therefore wish to have the ringer and notifications call a bit louder than at home. Not only do I have to do that with two different settings, I can’t even achieve that using volume buttons and sound panel, but rather have to specifically go to Settings>Sound each time. it’s fucking regressive.

And I know some people prefer to have the ringer call loudly and notifications notify silently, but the point is this used to be customisable! It was a switch between linked volume or separate and it worked fine for years. Why enshittify a perfectly well working thing?!

nudnyekscentryk OP ,
@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

Well yeah, “Rules” does this as well, but this only works in repeatable scenario

nudnyekscentryk OP ,
@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

Well, that’s some solution, thanks . Guess I will do that as well

nudnyekscentryk OP ,
@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

I only have Media (shows by default), Ring and Alarm (after expanding) in there. But then again, I’m running a custom rom, based on LineageOS, based on AOSP

nudnyekscentryk OP ,
@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

I know about it but this doesn’t really fix the issue because, yet again, that’s merely a solution for a repeatable scenario

nudnyekscentryk OP , (edited )
@nudnyekscentryk@szmer.info avatar

Lol, no, not a joke. These are regressive changes
