American wanting to move abroad, what's the best bet for an registered nurse?

Hi there, I’m a registered nurse in Phoenix, Arizona and I’m seriously considering moving abroad because this country is driving me insane for a lot of reasons. I was considering moving to Israel since I’m Jewish and I’ve heard they have a better healthcare system there and pay nurses well but this war has made me not...

ImFresh3x ,

Socially it is moving pretty fast to the right in many places. They still have trains and healthcare. For now. Most US cities are as left leaning as Europe is.

ImFresh3x ,

Make them in Mexico. Less reliance on one country is better for everyone.

ImFresh3x ,

Italy’s problems aren’t new. Am Italian.

ImFresh3x ,

My city banned Airbnb and VRBO, and actually successfully made it not a thing here. Not sure why Barcelona cannot also. The water usage issue seems easy to fix, or not really the issue at all.

It’s like one edgy dude. All the font is exactly the same for 90% of those. ‘Go Home Tourist’ is basically his graffiti name. News agencies, tourists, and social media posters love it though.

ImFresh3x ,

I live in a very, very touristy area. I just accept that I live somewhere other people want to see, and there’s real consequences to that. The consequences are significant. Traffic, crowding, high prices, shitty restaurants, etc. There are benefits though. And not all tourist jobs are bad. Yeah they’re not engineering jobs, but to the people who live off those jobs they are happy they exist. It’s easy for someone who is privileged to say no one wants those jobs.

ImFresh3x ,

Maybe they didn’t make it an issue until after because it was under their radar? Once it became the center of attention they might have thought safety of the winner was important? The vast majority of the comments in this thread don’t even seem to know why it was disqualified.

This whole thread strikes me as odd.

ImFresh3x ,

Really limited information on the actual products. Zero ingredients information too.

ImFresh3x ,

Which airline is making huge profit? I can’t find even one that isn’t breaking even ± 1 or 2 percent.

AA is the biggest, but makes no profit. Delta makes a small profit compared to their revenue.

ImFresh3x ,

This device has a notch?

Also when did Samsung attack apple for using M1/M2/M3?

ImFresh3x ,

What, how is Qualcomm competing with Samsung?

Apple uses Samsung hardware, btw.

Netanyahu vows to defy Biden’s ‘red line’ on Rafah (www.politico.eu)

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says he intends to press ahead with an invasion of the city of Rafah on the southern border of the Gaza Strip in defiance of United States President Joe Biden, who has warned such an offensive would be a “red line.”...

ImFresh3x ,

Also PCAM should be required by law in all new cars.

ImFresh3x ,

They haven’t sent them either of those things since last year. Only aide for Gazans recently.

If you were sincere in caring for gazans you’d be aware that when you say good luck with trump, you’re saying good luck with him to Palestinians, who will definitely suffer much worse under him. He will encourage bibi to finish them off. He’s very vocal about this.

Ohhh nooooos you’re not

ImFresh3x ,

Most profitable car manufacturer too.

ImFresh3x ,

Can’t beat the reliability of a Toyota or Lexus hybrid. Nothing comes close.

ImFresh3x ,

Hitachi still top dog. And is 150.

But the vim is nice for people who want to be able to start at a lower speed.

Def worth the cost.

ImFresh3x ,

I got a notification for it from Washington Post. Reuters and nbc has it on the front page.

ImFresh3x ,

Transportation is a tiny fraction of carbon emissions. And EVs are a small improvement within that. Regulations and investment into things that matter are the only way out of this problem.

Court blocks $1 billion copyright ruling that punished ISP for its users’ piracy (arstechnica.com)

One thing that leaps out at me about this ruling is that courts understand the internet a lot better nowadays. A decade or so ago Sony would have probably gotten away with the argument that Cox profited from the users’ piracy; nowadays judges themselves use the internet and are going to go “lolno, they probably would have...

ImFresh3x ,

Just use a debrid service. 10x better.

ImFresh3x ,

As long as you don’t call your pit a “velvet hippo,” like that one weird Reddit sub. Almost as bad as calling a dog a fur baby.

ImFresh3x ,

NY post is awful. Deliberately misconstrued this Reddit thread for clickbait.

Web based vr pron works.

Sideloading apps is also easy.

If you want services and products to compete with private offerings you need talented and competent people who could otherwise work in a for profit business and get a typical salary for that position.

Unfortunately 340k is basically upper middle class household in coastal cities. Mozilla HQ is in Mountain View, the heart of Silicon Valley.

Try buying even a fixer upper is the South Bay and raising two kids on less 300k in Silicon Valley. I’m making close to 200k in the Bay Area and feel like I have no money for extras like home improvements, no kids, 20 year old car, travel on a tight budget once a year for a week or so, and still behind on my retirement goals.

Rent is like 5k for a studio. Mortgage is like 8-9k for after taxes and interest for a fixer upper. Feels like having a semi nice house and a couple kids in decent school is for people making 600k+ per household.

So a Toyota rav4 hybrid (3,800 pounds) would be treated like a big truck. RAV4 has better front viewing than a sedan. This is just feel good bullshit.

If it’s about safety just make Pedestrian crash avoidance mitigation (PCAM) standard by law going forward.

ImFresh3x ,

It’s time for Pedestrian crash avoidance mitigation (PCAM) to be enforced as standard feature. Much better solution. Large vehicles will still need to exist, even though I agree fewer of them should.

ImFresh3x ,

This is true.

But this screenshot is old if even real. I googled it and the snippet was much more realistic and detailed.

More to your point::

One snippet I recently saw that was wrong was the result for ‘population of Gaza.’ It showed the population of Gaza city, which is tiny fraction of Gaza.

When she’s on tour, the jet when she’s touring on serves the entertainment of lots of people, not just her. In the same way a venue does. When divided among lots of people it’s meaningless fraction of the transportation of the audience.

I also think worrying about a few people is a way to discredit climate change concerns.

Regulations and investing in better energy sources are what matters. I don’t give a fuck about a few rich fucks with yachts and airplanes. I care about policy and how society distributes resources and energy.

All aviation accounts for less than 2% of emissions. Private jets are a tiny fraction of that. But now we’re talking about that instead of the actual issue. This serves climate change deniers. This serves the Republican agenda, and the pertrol agenda. You’re doing that right now.

ImFresh3x ,

Well and most people retirement plans too.

ImFresh3x ,

Just made salsa last night.

4 tomato 1 onion 1 bunch of cilantro 1 lime 6 Serrano 6 jalapeño 6 habanero Salt

That’s about 1 habanero per small bowl. Most people wouldn’t eat a full habanero, or even taste that salsa.

Never had an issue internally with spicy food.

ImFresh3x ,

Done this for fun several time with friends. Not an issue. That da bomb sauce def burns the mouth tho.

ImFresh3x ,

Can’t really expect that any more than you expect that Macaulay Culkin in Home Alone personally made sure the paint buckets he swung at Joe Pesci were actually empty. It’s just not how it works.

It’s up to the props people, in this case the armorer.

ImFresh3x ,

I fell asleep. Prop people can handle it

ImFresh3x ,

Sometimes I wonder: Could a president forcefully standup to Israel and live out a term? I seriously feel that between the insane volume of lobbying by AIPAC and the implication of having caused such a rift in the political paradigm that no politician would ever dare be as firm as I’d hope they would.

And the GOP alternative will say to Netanyahu:

Stop being a bitch and finish them already.

I’m not being an apologist. I just have become really sad about all this. Feeling pretty hopeless since this all started. Not that the feeling is new, just really turned up.

ImFresh3x ,

I find that many of those brands are impossible to avoid. But I’ve always done my casual best. But holy shit it’s crazy how hard it is to avoid certain things google and Amazon completely. They’re services are imbedded into everything. Probably this websites services are paying google or Amazon in some fashion.

ImFresh3x ,

I’ve been boycotting Israel my whole life

ImFresh3x ,

The NATO budget is a minuscule, tiny fraction of each member’s GDP(0.3%). And it gets cheaper and more effective the more members it has. Collective defensive alliances are probably the most cost effective preventive measure a country can take.

If anything NATO has allowed for a much smaller a militarization of each member state.

That said, America definitely is overdoing it with their individual military.

US says 'no way' to solve Israel security, Gaza war without Palestinian state (www.reuters.com)

There is “no way” to solve Israel’s long-term security challenges in the region and the short-term challenges of rebuilding Gaza without the establishment of a Palestinian state, U.S. State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said on Thursday....

ImFresh3x ,

Wouldn’t Jews be the majority still? Maybe my math is off, and I’m completely and embarrassingly omitting something in the count, but it seems even if you include Gaza, the West Bank, and the Israeli occupied territories Arabs would make up 20% and Jews would make up 75%.

ImFresh3x ,

Serious question, without trying to stir shit up:

Other than international outrage or intervention what would prevent Israel from occupying all of Gaza? Doesn’t Israel outnumber 20:1 in terms of population, and outgun 2024 to 1970 in terms of technology?

ImFresh3x , (edited )

Yeah would hate to have big laundry know about my lights and darks being mixed.

ImFresh3x ,

Main thing is I get a notification on my phone when it’s done. I’m not always near my washer. Sometimes I forget. The times vary a lot by load size so a timer it’s as good. Saves me time and keeps my clothes from getting moldy

ImFresh3x ,

SSRIs definitely work for some people. It’s just that everyone’s brain chemistry is extremely different and complex. Doesn’t make it less scientific. Making the best guess is math and science.

ImFresh3x ,

Oysters actually need clean/unpolluted water. What they eat and clean is sediment, phytonutrients, and phytoplankton. Well at least that’s what I was tood by an oyster farmer. They clear the water which is good for the sea grass, and the small fish, which is good for the big fish and so on.

ImFresh3x ,

Pollution easily kills shellfish. If anything, that’s an indication that they are clean and from clean places. Oysters feed of phytoplankton, not waste/garbage and pollution.

ImFresh3x ,

Also:

If you have access to an Apple dev account this is avoidable.

ImFresh3x ,

Tell that to my two infrequent user friends who decided to share some cocaine at home, after going out the bar, catching up after not seeing each other for a while who both died from fentanyl overdose.

Inert cutting agents that simply dilute the product are not type of impurities in the sense that I was talking about. And I think there’s clear.

Also. when inert cutting agents are used without the user knowing the potency they are more liable to overdose. Legal and regulated cocaine would not have fentanyl or levamisole etc, and the potency would be printed on the bottle.
