Alright 1995 fans! Today in 1995, the beloved version of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle, debuts on BBC One. You have an OFFICIAL anniversary to celebrate!
I thought this was an essay on the topic of books in Austen's world, which it is to some point, but it's more a review of Susan Allen Ford's book, "What Jane Austen’s Characters Read (And Why)."
If you've been around here long enough, you know 2005 is my favorite version. I always watch it during the holiday season as well when I'm not feeling great. I have a copy of the movie on my laptop and iPad and I never get sick of it.
Fantastic news! The film, "#JaneAusten Wrecked My Life," currently at Toronto International Film Festival, has been picked up by Sony Pictures Classics for US distribution! Per the Telly Visions article, no ETA on release but could be as early as December 2024.
