So I think you’re late to the party for puts. Smart money IMO is on a call for a rebound at this point. Perhaps smarter money is looking through companies that may have been overlooked that would be CrowdStrike customers and putting puts on them. The obvious players are airlines, but there could be a ton of smaller cap stocks that outsource their IT to them, like regional trains and whatnot.
Regardless, I don’t gamble w/ options, so I’m staying out. I could probably find a deal, but I have a day job to get to with nearly 100% odds of getting paid.
Also there’s good odds they don’t get to choose their detail. The best of the best of the best probably get assigned to the standing POTUS and everybody else probably gets the runner-ups. So you could go into that career (probably years ago) wanting to protect and serve your country and all that martyr bullshit, and then because you got a 98% on your practicum while the other candidate got a 99% now you’re stuck getting sexually harassed by Trump for the rest of your career.
I mean she’s not dem leader anymore. I know she still represents CA as dean . I just find it strange I’ve seen so many articles mentioning her as though she’s still in charge.
———
Edit - and now the recent articles claiming Obama wants Biden to step down too, which is supposedly conjecture and hearsay. It all reads like a hit campaign of known democratic leadership names, and it seems really odd how little coverage there is of the various democratic representatives in full support of Biden.
Which is exactly what I’m getting at. She won the popular vote. By a lot. Dropped the ball in swing states. Lost the election because you win through the EC.
A ticket popular on the coasts and only popular there is gambling with losing the EC again. AOC isn’t nearly as popular as people here are suggesting. Harris will have tough odds to beat Trump.
A Harris/AOC ticket isn’t going to do well in swing states. It only plays well to states that are already solid blue.
Welcome to version v1.109.0 of Immich. This release introduces an additional way for you to support Immich financially as well as bug fixes for various issues. Some of the highlights in this release include:...
For me, the license stuff is odd. They offer a license model with two tiers (user / server), yet the license seems to do nothing (except showing a little badge). Also, it is a one time payment which will likely not be substantial in the future.
Why not create a “supporter” tier for maybe $2 per month or so, this would bring some recurring income without the fears of paywalling the product.
They have always planned to have continual revenue by offering their own hosting services similar to paid google photos after Immich goes stable. This is just another odd way of doing donations that Futo uses for stuff like Greyjay.
Joe Biden has reportedly become more open in recent days to hearing arguments that he should step aside as the Democratic presidential candidate after the party’s two main congressional leaders told him they doubted his ability to beat Donald Trump....
It’s odd to see you put so much of Palestine on Bidens lap. It’s been an issue for at least 40-50 years.
I remember what Obama said in his memoir about Isreal, how that is such a tricky issue for Dems. Isreal is the only consistent military ally in the region. A President has an obligation, as commander and chief of the military. You have into major consideration in the area of the region that’s is most likely to commit act of foreign terrorism against the US.
No, Fedora Workstation 40 does not have minimize and maximize buttons by default/ootb.
Or course my view is somewhat biased, but so is yours. I just know people who are absolutely clueless when it comes to computers and yet they have to for example use Zoom for the odd meeting or Teams.
Most apps using a tray icon don’t necessarily require interacting with it for the app to function (and I never stated that was the case), but beginners coming from Windows (which will be where most users are coming from, if at all - at least that’s my “biased view”) will absolutely be used to tray icons being there and might have used them to access app functionality or at least just to see that the app is still running if it has no windows open.
For more detail check my comments in reply to GravitySpoiled, not gonna repeat everything.
So, I have my desktop configured with two drives, one has a regular windows install on it that I need to play games with my brother. That works fine....
One more mention for Dark, absolutely the best thing on Netflix IMO.
Others:
Neuvas Rienas (9 queens) - an excellent Argentinian heist/scam film with quite a cool look. Like a mix of Ocean’s Eleven (plotwise) and the Bourne films (visually).
Intacto - interesting Spanish movie about people who are able to steal others’ luck. I could imagine Christopher Nolan doing an English language remake.
Le Havre - fun French film about an old man helping shelter a child who is in the country illegally. Very funny.
Akira - obviously
Ringu - original Japanese version. Terrifying.
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon - quite an obvious choice, but it absolutely blew me away when it came out.
The Killing - Danish TV show. Not seen the American remake, but the original is amazing
Oldboy - Korean movie, as above, remade, but I’ve only seen this. I suspect this one is better!
Godzilla Minus One - monsters! And the suffering of post WW2 Japan! Odd mix, but it works!
8 Femmes - very funny French murder mystery. Recently remade (pretty well) in Italian as 7 Women and a Murder.
Duet for Cannibals - very strange Swedish film I saw recently about two couples and some strange living/working arrangements.
Rashomon - classic Japanese movie, where we see the same event from 3 different perspectives
Taxi - brilliant French heist/crime/driving movie, with some superb car chases
I guess I’m the odd one out here, but squatter stories infuriate me. Signing a contract and then intentionally violating it is super unethical. The renting/income/ownership problem needs to be solved in other ways than letting people steal the property they’re living in. Letting people stay in properties without paying significantly increases landlord risk and causes shittier contracts and higher prices.
Also, if someone jas an eviction on their record, getting another rental is way harder. It’s good to discourage it so people don’t end up trapped unable to get another rental when they’re back on their feet.
I’m the odd man out here. But I don’t see the issue here. If the shoe was on the other foot and Biden got hit in the ear, and the Democrats did this to show support to Biden people here wouldn’t deride them as they do the Republicans here.
There’s many things these politicians deserve criticism for, solidarity for someone having been hurt isn’t among them.
If Harris got cancer we wouldn’t mock senators wearing little pink ribbons.
Some time ago, I noticed that youtube comments are copied without emojis, thought nothing of that - bugs happen - but today I finally decided to find out why and what the hell is even this....
Odds are they did it so everyone would have uniform emojis. Would also enforce the gun to squirt toy change. Also it may be a remedy for the fact that android updates suck ass. A new phone may never be updated and be stuck with old emojis. Google should have learned by now to abstract away the hardware drivers, but that would make too much sense.
That was more signal chain theory that I’ve ever read in one sitting.
Sorry 😂. Digital signal processing is one of my special interests so I typically go overboard with it.
Source of distortion doesn’t really matter, it’s filters
TS808 cleans shit up, no tubes. Tubes not necessary and probably dont do much in a pedal anyway
Yep that’s it.
What are you running now for amps and such got get away from the 5150/TS808 combo?
In the “before times”, I used a TBX150 solid state amp alone, and a Peavey 6505, mostly for recording. The TBX150 is a great amp for modern death metal, but it has a parametric EQ. For me, that’s great, but a lot of guitarists don’t like the metal zone because it has a parametric EQ. For both, I plugged them into a cheap birch Seismic cabinet with a Vintage 30 speaker harvested from a Recto cab. Honestly, the biggest factor in the quality of my guitar recordings was switching to that speaker.
At this very moment, since my grandmother moved in, I’ve had to forgo amps altogether for simulators. I actually use either a 6505 simulator (Nick Crowe 8505) or a Fender Frontman (yes, that amp, specifically the AXP Softamp plugin) with the mids cranked up and the cabinet impulse thrown out and replaced with a set of impulses I recorded myself from the previously mentioned cabinet.
The best results I’ve gotten have been with using an EQ before a Boss HM-2 (Buzz Helvetes) set to… however much “HM-2-ness” you want in the EQ depending on what you’re playing, and the smallest possible offset from zero distortion. The pre-EQ is typically a bandpass so I can get more “grinding” and as a cheat for not changing my strings. But, it doesn’t really change the “overall” frequency response of the output of the HM-2, just how the HM-2 “sees” your guitar, so you still get its nastyness. Then the majority of the gain comes from the amp.
If an HM-2 or Metal Zone is too much, I’ve gotten really “smooth” results with using the ProCo Rat as an overdrive. Note that on a ProCo Rat, the Filter (tone) knob “is backwards”; all the way to the left = minimal filtering.
My inspiration for this is really the fact that old school death metal was recorded on shitty gear compared to what is available today, and that some of the magic lies in the fact that it sucks in just the right way. Besides At the Gates who used two shitty pedals, Chuck Schuldinger from Death used a shitty Valvestate and got great results. Most of the old school death metal bands were using Valvestates.
In the past few months, I’ve been experimenting with using the RS-MET tool chain plugin to generate nasty sounding distortion with odd-order Chebyshev polynomials. It initially sounds like a more unhinged Boss HM-2 with no pre or post eq, but since the plugin lets you input the math you want to do, it’s much more controllable. If you use this plugin, you gotta make sure to set the built-in filters to cut off high frequencies that will be aliased, or turn on oversampling, or both. This is included within the plugin, but you have to actually set it. Otherwise, everything just sounds like aliasing, although that’s pretty gnarly too.
So the short answer is: switch out a tube screamer for some garbage piece of gear, preferably something with a frequency response (loosely “tone”) you like and a “bold” distortion. Then, set the pedal so it is giving the least amount of gain while still exhibiting its nonlinearity (minimum possible distortion), then set the amplifier to give you the rest of your gain and cut through the mix. I cannot stress enough that for metal guitars, particularly recording guitars, you gotta set your knobs so that it sounds good in the mix. If it sounds perfect in the room without the rest of the band, I guarantee you it will sound muddy in the mix.
This is just false. There’s no interpretation of ‘communist economies’ that applies to any fascist state ever. Two of the core characteristics of fascism are anti-liberalism and anti-Marxism, which covers basically all socialism. Fascist leaders (even the national-syndicalism types like Mussolini) have an odd relationship with capitalism, but ultimately I don’t believe they moved towards socialism either.
Historically, more fascist governments have developed from socialist nations than capitalist.
Apart from Francoist Spain, I can’t think of a single example of a fascist government which succeeded a socialist government.
We have this bologna in our fridge at all times. It’s the best. Fry it with some eggs. Kids love it. Never even thought about how odd the packaging looks lol
However I find myself being disagreed with quite often, mostly for not advocating or cheering violence, “by any means possible” change, or revolutionary tactics. It would seem that I’m not viewed as authentically holding my view unless I advocate extreme, violent, or radical action to accomplish it....
One idea I really like is slowly circumventing the need for big corporations by having services provided locally. People in a given community developing skills and aiding each other to make themselves as self-sufficient as possible. Then groups of these communities can interact and potentially provide things the other one lacks.
On board with this being consistent so far, building up parallel structures and dual-power is a core aspect of Revolutionary Leftist Theory. I do expect Capitalists to crack down on this though, to protect their interests. This happened to Fred Hampton of the Black Panther Party.
Or something like medieval guilds where people from each profession act together to practice their craft where needed, modified unions or something like that.
Not really in line with this, seems like an odd direction, unless you’re describing Worker Councils. I still expect Capitalists to stomp this out unless Leftists fight back.
Essentially people willingly cooperating to be able to stand up to the capitalists. They have power because we depend on them, both their services and on money which they hoard. Through cooperation and mutual aid, their power can be significantly reduced, without a high risk of violence erupting.
So this is just Revolutionary theory, but with the added “no violence though” bit. The problem is that this situation would result in violence, and historically has, for all comparable events.
Is this too optimistic and naive? Maybe, but I’m of the opinion that we’d in any case benefit if we started moving in that direction.
We would benefit, you’re describing some form of Revolutionary Theory with the hope that Capitalists lay down and accept their crumbling influence.
I regret something and could use some advice on how to move past it. Recently, I was browsing YouTube and saw a comment from someone asking for help removing a stuck ring because their finger had swelled in the morning. I responded with a possible solution. A few minutes later, I deleted that comment and reposted the same...
Nothing. It’s just an odd question because most people don’t see or understand how someone could be interested in this. They assume it’s something sexual or otherwise kinky. I think it’s just an obscure preference and people are once again forgetting that this is No Stupid Questions…
I think the majority of users here find this post odd because of the level of regret over this specific missed opportunity. Most people would not make a post asking for advice on how to move beyond regret unless the intensity and duration of regret were seemingly insurmountable. Those that do would likely do so if they were being tormented for quite some time over a major life-changing event: missed opportunity for love, career, riches, or fame. This post is seeking advice on how to move beyond regret over the missed opportunity of a video on removing a ring that is stuck because the fingers increased in size (not because of knuckles). It gives the impression that either your life is spectacular because missing an opportunity for a ring removal video is the most regretful experience of your life, or your fascination with ring removal is uniquely extreme. The latter would cause people to wonder what about ring removal could be so rewarding. Since it doesn’t have any evident answer, they consider your taste odd.
Do you have the memory of a goldfish? Status quo under the previous KMT administration was very healthy. No talks of invasion, lots of talk about economic ties and cultural exchange. It was great, actually. Xi and Ma met, which was the first meeting between leaders since the start of the civil war. Ma is a true statesman and a symbol of what proper Taiwanese governance should be. Peace across the strait was possible for once.
Then, the DPP got elected, started sucking America’s cock, started inviting top US officials for state visits, received awards from American state-funded institutions (like the National Endowment for Democracy), increasingly remilitarized, invited the US to sail through the Taiwan Strait… And the rest is history. Odd how it’s always the US-backed government that’s the “victim” in Western media, isn’t it? Surely China violated the status quo with respect to crossing the median line on their own accord, not because just a few weeks ago a US warship was invited to sail through the strait? Do you even remember what the status quo was?
Taiwan claims territory that conflicts not only with China, but with: Mongolia, Myanmar, Bhutan, India, Japan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Russia, Pakistan, and also Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia, Brunei, and Indonesia. Recognizing Taiwanese sovereignty violates the sovereignty of not only China, but also all of those countries… Which is absurd. Cut the crap and look at a map. ROC sovereignty would basically wipe Mongolia off the map. The funny thing is that Taiwan recognizing the sovereignty of the territory that conflicts with all of these other nations would have no bearing or impact on their sovereignty claim with China itself… Taiwan simply refuses to do so. The only claim that Taiwan cannot make freely is one that shrinks the borders of modern China (e.g. in the Arunachal Pradesh area and the South China Sea), but for everything else they have complete legislative authority to recognize foreign claims (after all, China has already done so, so doing so would not violate One China policy). They won’t, of course, because they refuse to recognize China’s negotiations in those territories as valid.

Tbf, the odds of getting shot in America are still pretty low too, it’s about 12k/350mil/yr, whatever the math is on that. It is possible though however unlikely, so maybe that answers your “targets on their back while touring aus blah blah gun control” question. Evidentially, it is indeed possible to be shotbin Australia.
