Book: Claiming My Alpha Wolf.
Author: Ruby Brinks.
My Rating: 1/5
I'm going to be completely honest and say that this is the first time in a long time that I've reviewed a book and rated it less than 3 stars. Since starting this book, I have felt off balance, like I'm walking around in odd shoes at different heights. I've put off reading this book over the last few days because it just wasn't holding my attention. I've struggled with this book, but have done my best to read it through all the way, despite the very strong urges I've had to DNF it. Without revealing any spoilers, I have found several flaws in the book, several inconsistencies. The lack of character development and the large plotholes have left me less than satisfied with this book. It is probably something someone out there would read, however this book is not for me. There are many misused words and spelling errors that should have been picked up during the editing/proof reading stage, and these were not. Overall, I am rather disappointed in this book as it has potential to be a great read, however it's just not there yet. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/6145228405 #amreading#bookreview#bookstodon @bookstodon@romancelandia
Yes, that’s correct. We have not had the technology to accurately track this kind of data until 1982. Essentially the ~30 years of data from 1982-2011 is being used as a baseline. The past ~12 years or so have seen increasing levels of warmth compared to this baseline, and 6 standard deviations in statistics is usually “where did I fuck up my calculations” levels of absurdity. I think it is something like 1 in 500 million odds? I may be wrong, but it happening twice is not a miscalculation.
We could chalk it up to this being a natural phenomenon, but it’s more likely that we have reached tipping points in the climate that are now being seen in the data.
I came across a post in a Michigan community that mentioned this, and i asked if it really happened because it seems so crazy that Republican collaborators would directly mail in fake documents saying Trump won states he lost and I hadn’t even really heard about it....
I don’t think I’d say that, I think the fact that all of the false certificates were immediately flagged and rejected is a good sign.
I think it’s a lot more odd that the matter isn’t being treated more seriously by the authorities, but I wouldn’t say that some recent development indicating a collapse, the aw, shucks recognition of “oh they were just trying” seems oddly within the American tradition.
I’ve hit the odd site where a menu doesn’t work the way it should, the payment form doesn’t work, overall form validation is wonky, or the captcha doesn’t work. I attribute most of these to slight nuances in javascript between browsers.
I’m a (old, grey) dev, and I’ve had to shame colleagues into testing in mobile browsers other than Chrome and Safari.
Firefox has Firefox Accounts which will do just the same. All those extensions are also available. You may find the odd extension is missing but there is usually a decent replacement about.
Oftentimes, when I use Firefox (Main browser on my phone) things just don’t render/show up. One thing I noticed was when I input my area code to find a package distribution center, and it straight up didn’t show. Iirc it relied on Google maps for showing these places.
It worked in Chrome. Not pointing any fingers, it’s just odd, is what I’m saying.
I decidedly do not like to drink coffee from stainless. Something about it seems to boost acidity. Borsillicate glass is my preference for mugs, but to keep my chemex brew warm in between the Chemex and my mug is there any reason to get a glass lined carafe (bit more fragile) vs a pure stainless carafe?...
It’s so expensive that the NYC subway used to be multiple private railroad companies but the business just wasn’t feasible (at a reasonable price) when the market had a downturn - which is why the city eventually took it over.
This is why the track geographies are so odd in NYC

That’s so odd, CFA prides itself in their streamlined process in my area, Home of the CFA territory honestly, which is probably the reason they’re so methodical here. Their drive throughs are pretty decent, and designed to perfection. Conveyor belts going through their ceiling delivering to a second drive through lane. It’s wild.
Me neither. There’s clearly more pictures that aren’t included here, so maybe on one of those?
The odd thing about the hair in that picture to me is that on the left side of the photo, there’s one piece that seems to go on a nearly 90 degree bend for seemingly no reason, mid air. I don’t generally see hair get… Kinked like that. I suppose it’s not outside the realm of possibility, but it’s odd at least.
The rest of the hair seems fine to me, but I’m no expert.
I will note however that the object(s) in the background on the left side of the photo look like a gigantic (novelty sized) point and shoot camera from the 90’s. The box on top is the viewfinder and there’s the impression of a circle below that which would be the lens.
Just makes me giggle at the thought of such a large disposable camera.
I just installed kubuntu on my daily driver. That didn’t go super well so I tried endeavor, also didn’t go well. It could be kde plasma, but it did not feel like Linux is ready to compete for something that is ready out the box.
That said, I run endeavor on my little netbook tablet and it works a wonder, so no idea. I couldn’t even get steam to load on my desktop for some reason. I tried Linux on my desktop for half a day, then decided to run back to Win11 with my tail between my legs. It just wasn’t with the hassle. Steam didn’t work, permissions for my second hard drive for Plex were messed up. I just didn’t want to have to figure it out. I’m back comfy with windows, and just experimenting with my netbook for the time being.
I really wanted Linux to stick this time… Oddly, I was using Ubuntu on my daily driver back in 2012 without a problem.
We’ve raised lots of issues. The amounts of the stimulus checks, the way he fucked us over with the BBB, the way he negotiated down for student loan forgiveness, for fucking over the rail workers. The list goes on. Every time we mention something we get shut down. For someone who wants our votes so badly you have a really odd way of showing it.
I was going to post this as a response to someone else’s post, but realised it wasn’t really relevant to their point.
Years ago, when doing my teacher training, we had a guest speaker come & talk to us about our role as teacher when dealing with sexual diversity etc. He was a very conventional looking young white man.
It was a seminar type presentation, with discussion along the way. As time went on, he slowly removed his “straight” mask, to show how many students can & do present as heteronormative until if & when they’re ready to come out.
I wonder how this would work for autistic advocates who can mask effectively, in small group presentations? Masking as in making eye contact, smiling, a self effacing introduction etc. And then, “This is how I can present when I feel the need. This is how I present when I feel safe or give up caring.” Followed by an explanation of the impact that masking has, the fact that many autistic people can’t mask, the fact that we shouldn’t need to mask etc as well as general autism education.
Of course this shouldn’t be necessary & it wouldn’t be in an ideal world.
We could make comparisons with women who have to play by the men’s rules in business & politics, the people of colour &/or members of other different ethnic/religious groups who try to “assimilate” to get ahead, & how many struggle to do so, feel like traitors to themselves & their peers, get sick of &/or struggle with pretending to be someone other than they really are. Masking autism is not the same, & this would need to be explained, but I think many people would relate to some of the similarities & the feelings involved.
There will always be some people who refuse to learn, who insist on a negative approach as part of their strategy to prop up their own ego. And it’s not them whom I would bother trying to convince. It’s the more reasonable but ignorant people who are open to learning that I think would be worth targeting.
'“This is how I can present when I feel the need. '
With that paragraph my eyes opened.
/I just realized my mother knew all along./ She taught me to mask from when I was a young child in the 60s, to fit in with any set of adults, to seem an adult or a kid, to act this way or that with my little friends depending on the family or the context.
I was the little odd kid who rolled instead of crawling, who didn't learn to speak until placed into a special kindergarten, where I picked up French instead of English. To fit in, to mask. I got soooo good at the acting!
All I wanted was to fit in well enough that I got ignored, so I could be invisible, relieved of my burden. My shyness is really my exhaustion at having to try once again to fit in, to think on the fly with people I don't know, who might see the truth if I fail. Am I fraud, an act, not real? Shyness speaking there, getting in the way.
I have to think about that. I love the masks, my tools. I'm thinking up new strategies.
And to think my mother knew all along I was #actuallyautistic. I'm flabbergasted. Were she still alive, I'd call her up right now...
That all seems a bit much compared to doordash just raising their service fee in order to pay their contractors enough to be willing to deliver orders in this new tipless world, but ok. I appreciate your attempt at answering the question nonetheless. Although it is pretty odd you consider a stable wage, hours and healthcare benefits to be a bad thing. And I still don’t understand why employees are willing to piss in bottles to meet quotas and stuff. I wouldn’t agree to a job like that. You probably wouldn’t either. Especially for the lower pay you described. Unless of course the stability and healthcare benefits made up for it all…in which case it would be a better deal than before.
If FB marketplace is the only game left in your town, create a fake Facebook account solely for using marketplace and you’ll probably have the easiest time selling stuff. It’s less convenient to chat with people if you don’t install their awful apps on your phone, but it’s less invasive.
Craigslist isn’t the king anymore but it’s still very active. There’s also Craigslist clones of various types in various cities that might be active for you - just try a local search for selling stuff and odds are the sponsored results will be big enough players in your area that they bother to advertise.
Or just throw up a sign with your phone number or email and stick it up on a community notice board, apartment building mail room, etc. For types of items that are pretty universal you shouldn’t have much trouble finding a buyer.
In all cases, set a high bar for scammers and idiots. Clearly post in your ad that it’s for pickup only and price is firm. If you get a message from someone saying anything but “is it still available? I can come over tomorrow”, just delete it. I’ve gotten tons of stupid messages like “call me 555-5555” or “I’ll give you 30% of asking price in cash”. Don’t waste your time with those fuckers. They’re either lazy or dishonest and you don’t have time for them.
I wouldn’t go to the trouble of setting up a table at a flea market unless you have a lot of valuable stuff to sell and have a strong stomach for dealing with hagglers.

If I were a betting man, it would be a very safe bet that if we just selected a “savage” out of the jungle at random, they would be more intelligent than you. I would even give you 3-2 odds.
Bold of such a casual watcher to opine on her motivations.
If you had actually been paying attention, each clue represents one of the 12 arcana given context by the way it is revealed, each episode being a tarot reading that gives depth and context to her character.
A true fan would watch in order, and would discover each season clearly describes the fools journey with a reading for each step - at that point it just. It then repeats, revealing more of her backstory each season
I’ll give the broad strokes, since I’m sure that’s all a casual viewer like you is interested in.
Blue was born as the deity of a small tribe on the coast of modern day France. She loved her people and worked for them tirelessly, and they loved her as she lavished them with bountiful harvests and artistic inspiration. Her people were kind and righteous, creating beautiful sculptures and cloth that they traded generously. Then the sea people attacked.
It’s unclear who they were, but her people were slaughtered and enslaved, her power slipping away, for she had given back all her people gave her, not considering her own needs. Slowly they died out, and knowledge of her name slowly died out.
Fading and in desperation she bound herself to a place, a cave in modern day Paris. Her heart broken by loss, she changed in those dark centuries. Her presence still brought fortune and so her former people’s land was taken by others, but she no longer had love in her heart. She compelled them to bury their dead in the caverns under the city, where she feasted upon souls of the dead for generation after generation. But none knew her name, and so she barely was able to sustain her existence.
At the advent of WWII, knowledge of the occult reached a peak. The Nazi leadership heard of the abnormal luck of the city, and so made a deal with the French - they only wanted access to the city without revealing their goal.
The Nazis took the city, and drove the resistance down into the catacombs, giving them an excuse to seek her out.
They succeeded, and they found her. She was almost feral at this point, but after heavy losses they managed to imprison her in a relic, an urn containing scraps of bones of her people. On this urn, they engraved an inscription, a binding to a single person. That person would gain eternal youth and funnel power to her, but they misunderstood what she was - in effect, those bound to her died quickly.
The relic was captured at the end of the war, and ended up in Hollywood along with many other odds and ends. After several high profile deaths, they discovered that attention from children could sustain the needs of this unnamed being. By destroying their potential, a little at a time, the host would not age or be drained by the relic.
What no one expected was how well this would scale. The fallen deity known as “Blue” has swiftly recovered, and there’s many fan theories about what this means.
And just to spell it out for the slower among you, this is a clear metaphor for capitalism, the effects of the industrial revolution, and the how in an effort to make children subservient , we reduce the future prospects of everyone, including those at the top
