Yeah, the thing is, it seems like it’s not “oh no, they’re using human shields, we can’t blow them up”, but more like “human shields? Oh well, load the bombs.”
The atrocities commited by hamas in no way justify the atrocities commited under the leadership of the Israeli government, doubly so since an organised military force with a clear chain of command is quite different from a group of extremist militants.
Yeah, the thing is, it seems like it’s not “oh no, they’re using human shields, we can’t blow them up”, but more like “human shields? Oh well, load the bombs.”
Finally, someone gets it.
The atrocities commited by hamas in no way justify…
This is where the disagreement truly lies and I’m sorry but you’re wrong. Israel absolutely has the right to go after Hamas and the civilian casualties are Hamas’ fault, not Israels. As you so eloquently put it, Israel is prioritizing the lives of its soldiers over those of the unfortunate, but almost certainly sympathetic or supportive, ‘civilians’. The second Hamas surrenders and releases the hostages you have a point. Until then, you’re supporting terrorist warcrimes by using genocide hyperbole instead of calling it the tragic intentional consequences of Hamas’ strategy.
There’s a huge difference. Hamas invaded Israel and intentionally slaughtered civilians and followed up by taking hostages whom they to this day refuse to release despite the ‘horrors’ being visited on their people. Israel is specifically going after Hamas and while being indifferent to the collateral damage. I’m absolutely certain the Israelis would prefer a clean fight for obvious unfair reasons but I have no illusions they will ever get that so here we are fundamentally agreeing to disagree.
The (edit: the past) mistreatment of the Palestinians is a crime that I fully support ICC justice for. It should have been what all these people downvoting made the wedge issue LONG ago and their outrage poorly conceals their guilt to this end. Regardless, it does not justify terrorism and anyone that thinks it does is lost. I also think the UN should force the issue to both sides dissatisfaction so we can end this century+ of BS but I’m not holding my breathe.
So what say you about the video where IDF had Palestinians in hand cuffs and had them walk in front of them as shields while the IDF soldiers cleared a building?
You will vote for bed ridden Joe biden in a oxygen mask, and you will clap. If the clapping is not enthusiastic enough you will be ostracized from society.
Consumers getting ripped off by credit card companies is an issue, and if Democrats are smart, they’ll be making a big deal out of this. I doubt they’re that smart unfortunately.
I mean, there are historical roots for why the dems don’t run primaries against an incumbent. The last time they did, we ended up with Reagan winning in a landslide. Not defending Biden as a candidate, but there’s definitely a reason why the dems don’t run against a sitting president.
You’re talking as if they were ever able to graduate elementary school. The last time I saw police near an elementary school they were too scared to go in
OK, I’ll argue for the cops on this one. Just this once!
Community engagement is a real thing, gets people talking to cops who otherwise wouldn’t. And that can be a positive experience all around.
For example; The Tulsa cops had a bitchin’ (my 80s coming out) Corvette Stingray they showed off at the fair and every other chance they had. They had quite an audience gathered around, talking about the car at first and then asking questions about LE.
Idea being, it’s not supposed to be a regular cruiser.
For all it’s flaws, you can’t deny it looks different from all the other cars around, and most people aren’t online enough to have an opinion about Musk and his bullshit, so to them it’s just an interesting looking car.
I mean, sure, if a Cybertruck parked next to me somewhere, I’d probably take a close look and talk to the owner if they were around. I’m curious as much as anyone.
I don’t have high expectations, and I’m not interested in owning one, but I’d still check it out.
But that’s just because these cars are rare and novel. If anything, the questions I’d ask would be tilted towards figuring out just how shitty a car it is.
If the police are roaming around in them, they become less novel, and generally speaking people aren’t usually interested in approaching random cops for conversations. People who socialize around cars usually aren’t a big fan of the cops.
most people aren’t online enough to have an opinion about Musk and his bullshit
I don’t understand this point. Not only does Elon Musk’s bullshit appear regularly on boomer tv stations, but you don’t have to be very online to get exhausted with Musk content. It’s not exactly niche content, he owns Twitter and is constantly attracting media attention with dumb stunts. You have to go out of your way to avoid hearing about him.
to them it’s just an interesting looking car.
Anyone interested enough in cars to be influenced by what kind of car the cops drive, is someone likely informed enough to know that the Cybertruck is a misengineered lemon of a car.
To car people. To other people it can be a “generic fancy car”, while the Cybertruck can be something unusual that no other car looks alike. Can’t get everyone.
Ok. They could put police lights on a weiner mobile too. That would get a ton of community engagement. But for some reason I can’t put my finger on, they have chosen a very expensive tiny dick toy instead.
Yeah, brutalist and brutal are different. The cyber truck is a fucking stupid design that will hurt people far more than most vehicles (big dumb truck hoods not withstanding).
They aren’t even going to be able to sell them anywhere that has reasonable pedestrian safety laws. CA needs to pass some and kill the fucking thing, not give them to cops who already want to kill anyone who makes them nervous.
Gotta love that the greatest strength of fascism is also it’s biggest weakness. Fascists value a strongman mentality and flock to powerful and influential people. As soon as there is any sign of weakness or drop in influence, it crumbles under it’s own weight.
I’ll be honest, living through interesting times sucks but watching the second collapse of American fascism is pretty interesting.
Potentially irreversible damage, we have extremely little time to take meaningful action on climate change and if trump gets to appoint judges for the next 4 years the situation very easily could be unrecoverable
