Putin thought he could defeat Ukraine in three days, and the result is two years and plus of war, tens of thousands of casualties that he will admit to, and US-made weapons now being fired into Russia. I don’t see him being the kind of 4D Chessmaster you seem to think he is.

At this point Putin’s goal is pure personal survival. He needs to not lose the war because that would make him look weak, which is very dangerous for a dictator. To keep himself alive and in power he is willing to throw any amount of Russian soldiers into the meat grinder.

I played it years ago when it came out and it’s still really good. It’s an indie grand strategy game with low production values but a game play loop I find very satisfying. The fact that it’s played on a realistic map of ancient Greece adds a lot of flavor and I love how the geography actually has important implications for strategy.

I am pretty skeptical of that number. As of a month ago, even the Russians were ‘only’ claiming to have inflicted 383 thousand casualties (tass.com/defense/1723781), which we can take as an upper bound on the reasonable estimates.

Find a way to work a small amount of exercise into your daily routine. Walk places instead of driving, do some jumping jacks in the morning or before bed, something simple that you can get yourself to do without much stress or planning. If you do it consistently, even 10-20 minutes of exercise a day can make a big difference in the long run.

The promise Theranos made was that their tests could be run with a much smaller sample of blood than other labs. Therefore, the results were inherently unreliable even if they used real machines, because they didn’t have the sample amount the machines were designed for.
